Gabi nd Nathalie are superheroes, but they do not know eachothers secret identities. Emilie also does not know. However, they both know that Emilie is a superhero, because they give her a miraculous.

Gabi loves Emilie, but he also develops strange feelings for his superhero partner over time, deciding that if Emilie doesn’t work out, he can always date his hero partner. However, this proves to be a disaster when he senses Emilie and his hero partner having mutual feelings for one another.

Nathalie has always loved Emilie, and she’s been planning to eventually tell her, but the knowledge that neither of their parents would approve of their relationship looms over her head and prevents her from saying anything. That is, until Gabi arrives. Another person who has feelings for Emilie. They’re both aware of eachothers feelings, and they (jokingly) become love rivals, both being completely fine with whatever outcome because at least Emilie & the other person are happy. However, Nathalie slowly starts to develop feelings for Gabi as they spend more time together without Emilie present (seeing as she has a strict schedule, so Gabi and Nathalie are often left to each others company). But she will never admit it, seeing as she doesn’t want to take Gabi from Emilie, and she believes that the feelings will never be returned. (Although she then starts feeling guilty/uncertain when her superhero self and Emilie’s superhero self start developing a relationship, because Gabi can never know, yet he holds out hope for Emilie and him, and Nathalie is now uncertain of who she loves [the answer is obviously both but she hasn’t figured that part out yet])

Emilie has only ever seen love in movies, and has therefore had a lot of celebrity crushes in the past, and fantasised about freedom and romance. She LOVES superheroes, and the two new heroes (secretly Gabi and Nathalie) become her new two crushes, except this time, it actually seems kinda realistic, considering they let her help them through kamikotization and eventually a miraculous.

Nathalie is chosen by Master Fu to wield the ladybug miraculous, after he hires her to find an artefact for him, and is impressed by her problem solving skills and efficiency. Her father loans her out as a hunting tool despite her young age, which has led her to having to grow up faster than an average child. Emilie is her only friend until she is introduced to Gabi. Nobody knows anything about Nathalie, but most people are intimidated by her, and her elegant yet casual outfits suggest that she has some extent of wealth. (In reality, none of the money is hers, and she tries to hide some of her earnings from her father because she plans to flee someday)

Gabi is a poor kid who works in his parents’ restaurant. They want nothing more than for their son to take over the family business, even though he has no interest in doing so. Gabi wants to be a fashion designer, so he worked hard to get into a good school where his talents may be recognised. However, to fit in with the “higher society” kids at his school, Gabi lies about his background, and creates a false identity for himself. This is because at his previous school, he was badly bullied for being a bit weird in his quiet demeanour, attitude, unsocial nature, his long-term friendship with Harry the clown and his punk style. Gabi accidentally gets the butterfly miraculous when it falls out of Emilie’s bag and she is unable to use it (she didn’t know it was there), so he transforms to save her, and Master Fu approves of him, so allows him to be a permanent hero. He frequently kamikotizes Emilie, because she wants to help.

Emilie is obsessed with superhero movies, so she will NOT miss the opportunity to follow supervillains to see the live action fighting. It only gets worse when she befriends Andre and they try to film it. Emilie goes crazy about both of the superheroes, and she has her own media outlet dedicated to praising them/investigating supervillains. Emilie has been sheltered her whole life, and this is the first time she has ever been allowed to wander free in the outside world, hence she is determined to make the most of it (despite Amilie begging her to be careful). She helps the heroes a lot, so when they’re struggling, they eventually make the collective decision to give Emilie the black cat miraculous.
