so if kwamis cant grant the powers of another holder, how come nooroo was able to grant sabrina the power of fetching things
How your powers works, Nooroo? Like, the Butterfly holder is the one who gives champions their appearance, powers and weapons? Or the champions decide these things for themselves? The Butterfly holder can read minds or they can just communicate telepathically with their victims? They can see through the eyes of their champions or they can just feel what the champions are feeling? They mind control them to obey or they can do whatever they want with their powers, but choose to do what the Butterfly holder said in fear of having their powers revoked?
Nooroo: It is a combination of the holder and champion that influences the appearance, power, and weapons. For example while the holder is the one that decides what specific powers they will grant the champion, but a champion cannot just take hold of any kind of power– it has to be an ability that both will answer their call for help and that they personally have to accept.
For example a holder like Reflekta, who wants to be seen by the world, could have never been granted the powers of Vanisher, even if that's what the holder wanted more than anything to give them.
The Butterfly has the ability to sense calls for help and know what is distressing a person, but they cannot truly read all the thoughts and memories of a person. "Telepathy" is the best word to describe the connection, but that is shaky at best, true Telepathy happens with the Peacock. With holder and champion they see through the eyes of each other and try to help one another. Words have to be spoken aloud to be heard by the other. So there is a connection but it is not through the mind.
The dynamic of holder and champion is that both sides continually give and help the other, it is meant to be a selfless dynamic that results in a mutual benefit. However akumatization is a corruption of this power, and changes things in away I never imagined even possible for my powers. The holder is able to twist the call of help into an obsession for the champion, and put them into a state where they are a lot more vulnerable to be easily influenced by the holder; so while they are not flat out under control of the holder they are in a vulnerable state where the holder has an unreasonable amount of influence; but as long as the two are still technically helping each other my powers can remain in play because it is still a form of Generosity, even with the selfish intentions both holder and champion can have.
The moment the holder decides to stop helping the champion, or vice versa, that is when the connection shatters and powers are removed.
