Are you gonna be patient with them when they're using AAC? Will you comfort them through meltdowns? Or do you just want a gf who talks to you about dinosaurs and has a cute "neurodivergent aesthetic"?

belonging to the species Homo sapiens

defining humanity by the things we do or feel rather than what we are is always going to exclude someone. maybe someone you care about. not all humans love, not all humans have or want partners or friends, not all humans are nice, not all humans feel empathy or remorse, not all humans make art, not all humans will make sense to you. they're still human. they're still human. they're still human.

Someone may have a special interest in a show, but instead of that meaning that they will talk about that show often, it may mean they watch that show extremely frequently.

You're gonna have your experiences minimized or not taken seriously. You're gonna be disagreed with. You're gonna be downvoted. You're gonna be told you're wrong. You're gonna be talked over. You're gonna face backlash.

Higher support needs autism just isn't an internet majority. It isn't the loudest voices.

Many autistics online are just regurgitating what they see from other autistics online. They're not informing themselves. They're not researching. They're not surrounding themselves with different experiences.

They're often surrounded by the same experiences. The same opinions. The same information/misinformation. Heck, even some online resources are just reguritating what they see these loudest voices say, even if that's not actually correct information.

And if you are going to fight back on that, there is a high chance you will be disliked in some capacity.

It does often feel like being a higher support needs autistic online means to keep your head down and be quiet. I see it happen far too often.

Unless you're in a community of majority higher support needs autistics (which feels like only a small amount of pockets around the internet), you either have to learn to accept that negativity in persuit of trying to advocate for yourself and others, or just be quiet.
