What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.

moodboards can be about anything: your blorbos, your ships, your favorite canon, your fanfic or original story... hell, i've done boards for favorite pokemon. pricing starts at $25, and if you'd like me to collect all the images from scratch, that'll be an extra +$10!
graphic editing is a lot more open-ended. whether it's an RP promo, a fun canon-based card, a collage, headers, banners, desktop wallpapers, etc. etc.... if you can think of it, i'll see if i can whip something up for it! pricing starts at $50, because it's a more intensive and lengthy process than moodboarding.

not to tell people what to do but as someone who’s been in fandom since i was like twelve, i promise that the only good fandom experience involves limiting your friend circle to, like, seven people. when you’re in a city, you don’t make friends with every douchebag on the street. stringently vet the people who are allowed to influence you. in an age of people and companies constantly demanding your attention and energy, your happiness will grow best like flowers in a greenhouse in a terrible city; a contained, curated space allows happiness to flourish. keep it small and don’t be sorry to tell people to stay the fuck out of your greenhouse.

I co-wrote The Prophecies of Ragnarok trilogy plus two of the prequel shorts, as well as a bunch of short stories published in litmags and anthologies. The worst thing that ever happened to LGBT+ discussions was the attempt at creating rigid definitions for diverse experiences that often exist on a sliding scale, or are fluid. Some lesbians experience attraction to men. Some gay men, who were forced to marry women for their own safety, did really love their wives. Some people are man and woman at the same time. Your gender identity and sexual orientation can change over time. In the 70s it was common knowledge that bi women could also be lesbians. Some people defy categorization just by their existence. Some people choose to reject categorization.

In this line of thinking ‘lesbian’ isn’t an objective pseudo-taxonomic category - it’s a label that people choose to use. Both lines of thinking are valuable, but I think the latter is a lot more useful for community building.
When we view ‘lesbian’ as an opt-in label, rather than a category that one is born into, the main question that pops up is “why do people use this label?” The answer varies, but for most it’s due to an attraction to women and a lack of attraction to men.
However, ‘woman’ and ‘man’ are categories with a lot of variation within themselves, and very few people can say with 100% certainty that they will never experience attraction to one or the other. If a woman has only been attracted to women her whole life and has joined communities centered around this attraction and has advocated for the rights of WLW, is her lesbian identity negated if she (knowing full well that he’s male) finds a male crossdresser hot? What if she’s sexually attracted to a few men, but could never be in a stable relationship with one, so she only dates women?
Labels like this need wiggle-room. If they don’t allow for some fluidity of experience, only a fraction of a fraction of people would ever find them useful, and the communities built around them would be small, weak, and isolated, and full of nothing but echos.
In other words, such a statement presupposes that the “I” exceeds its determination, and even produces that very excess in and by the act which seeks to exhaust the semantic field of that “I.” In the act which would disclose the true and full content of that “I,” a certain radical concealment is thereby produced. For it is always finally unclear what is meant by invoking the lesbian-signifier, since its signification is always to some degree out of one’s control, but also because its specificity can only be demarcated by exclusions that return to disrupt its claim to coherence. What, if anything, can lesbians be said to share? And who will decide this question, and in the name of whom? If I claim to be a lesbian, I “come out” only to produce a different “closet.” The “you” to whom I come out now has access to a different region of opacity. […] For being “out” always depends to some extent on being “in”; it gains its meaning only within that polarity. Hence, being “out” must produce the closet again and again in order to maintain itself as “out.” In this sense, outness can only produce a new opacity; and the closet produces the promise of a disclosure that can, by definition, never come. Is this infinite postponement of the disclosure of “gayness,” produced by the very act of “coming out,” to be lamented? Or is this very deferral of the signified to be valued, a site for the production of values, precisely because the term now takes on a life that cannot be, can never be, permanently controlled? – Judith Butler, “Imitation and Gender Insubordination,” The Gay and Lesbian Studies Reader, 1993, pg. 309.
There is no magical biological marker for identity. You can’t take your DNA and put it in a microscope and zoom way way in to find a little tag for Genderqueer Bisexual woman or Nonbinary Pansexual or Trans Lesbian or Agender He/Him Dyke.
Labels are a linguistic shorthand to try to quickly convey something about our experiences to other people. They are messy and complicated and contradictory and weird because WE are messy and complicated and contradictory and weird.
And “that person is using the wrong label” is almost never a useful way to approach someone using a label in a way that is confusing or unfamiliar to you.

A small fanzine update!
Hey there all!I apologise for the lack of updates recently, I was busy with quite a lot. This hindered my process a bit, but we're stay strong! ✌️🔥
The zine currently has around 32 pages and that's probably going to double if not triple (depending on the pages the fanfics will take, haha). I'm still finishing and polishing the information sections, but we're slowly getting to the fun stuff - your guys' amazing contributions!!! 🥺

Looking through the SolarBalls FanZine submission forms, there are some awesome ideas suggested (e.g. personality quiz, theories section, QnA with the moons, "who wore it best", etc.), so I was thinking about making a quick additional form for these submissions without needing anyone to sign up in the contributor section. However, I don't want to overwhelm anyone with the amount of forms I'm sending out here.
Still, please vote in the poll below if you'd be fine with me opening a quick additional form to gather some answers to the additional idea questions we've got!

Tumblr pushed out this announcement a few days ago as the tidal wave of "mature" content flagging hit everyone's dashboard and posts.
This passage here is really indigestible and not sitting well with me:
"Why We’re Doing This These updates help make Tumblr safer and more consistent for everyone. They will help protect users, especially younger audiences or anyone else who prefers not to see this content."
Umm... Why are you putting the burden on the majority of users when those primarily affected already have tools and recourse to enjoy a "safe" browsing experience?
Younger audiences...shouldn't be here engaging in the first place, per Tumblr's own terms of use during account creation, right?
Anyone else "who prefers not to see this content" can learn how to deploy a few little filters for their browsing pleasure in less time than it takes to clutch their pearls.
Let’s be honest: this notion of safety is performative pandering. It’s not about protecting anyone. It’s about putting up a front to appease advertisers. It’s about pretending to solve a problem instead of engaging with it responsibly. Parents—not platforms—are responsible for managing what their kids see online. Punishing adults for occupying adult spaces does nothing to make the internet safer; it just makes it emptier and duller.
This is exactly what Vox described as the “enshittification” of social media—where platforms degrade the user experience to chase vague corporate virtue and—of course, that McGinley of everything that was once beloved and became popular—profit. AI moderation and empty “community protection” rhetoric are part of that decline. They strip away nuance, creativity, and humanity in all its chaotic, but honest, glory.
Tumblr built its reputation as a home for artists, writers, and creators who express whimsical, wonderful, weird, and beautiful creativity running the gamut of human emotions and experiences. Now, those same creators are being silenced by a malfunctioning algorithm that cannot tell the difference between art, education, and obscenity. It’s hurting creators, diminishing visibility, and possibly placing them at risk of shadow bans or account restrictions—all because of poor automated moderation while ramming this really dangerous, puritanical vision of what is "appropriate" down our throats.
We deserve a lot better.
