There is a part of the Jedi Apprentice series that has sparked two different ideas, of which this is the first.ย
Early in one of the books, before Obi Wan is taken as a padawan, Qui Gon Jinn witnesses a duel between him and another initiate. Qui Gon perceives that these two pre teens (if I remember correctly, Obi Wan is a few weeks away from turning 13 and Bruck Chun was a few months to a year younger) are too angry and tells Obi Wan that he is destined to fall, that training Obi Wan would be a waste of time.ย
As traumatizing as this speech is, when we take into account Obi Wanโs entire story it is also, objectively, the single most hilarious thing that Qui Gon Jinn could say to Obi Wan Kenobi.ย
From this Two ideas were born.ย
IDEA 1
The first is that as soon as Qui Gon tell Obi Wan that he is destined to fall, the Force drops post Death Star Qui Gon into current time Qui Gonโs head. Except there are no memories, just vibes.ย So between one moment and the next Qui Gon goes from โI will not teach you. Get away from meโ to โthis is my baby padawan, my little boy! Isnโt he precious?โ.
And the Masters watching, particularly those responsible for assigning the Master/Padawan pairs, go โwe were going to let you take the baby, until just now. Now we need do a psych evalโ
And Obi Wan (twelve years old) is a mix of emotions that he is not sure there is a word for.ย Ten minutes ago he was hopeful that Qui Gon Jinn would take him as a padawan. Three minutes ago the same master shattered that hope and left him devastated. Now the Master who devastated him is now hugging him and babbling about a padawan braid and how Obi Wan is his son.
Nothing makes sense.
Eventually, after innumerable medical and psychological tests, Qui Gon is allowed to take Obi Wan as a Padawan. At some point, during the evaluations, Qui Gon comes to two โrealizationsโ (based on nothing but vibes). The first is that he decides that Obi Wan must be the chosen one, but Qui Gon cannot tell anyone, believing that Qui Gon would not be allowed to teach him (left over vibes from the High council not letting him take Anakin as a Padawan) and to not put excess pressure on the baby. He also decides that Obi Wanโs goodness (the vibe that Obi Wan is incapable of falling) is just what is needed to bring Xanatos back to the light.ย
It should be noted that Qui Gon communicates this plan poorly to Obi Wan, who perceives that Qui Gon took him on to be bait for Qui Gonโs fallen former padawan.ย Obi Wan, though lacking in much of the trauma that we associate with him, is fairly fatalistic and just shrugs, thinking โwell, this might as well happenโ.
As soon as Qui Gon is released from medical, he takes himself and his shiny new padawan haring across the galaxy looking for Xanatos.ย It takes long enough to find him that Feemor hears about what is going on and, out of concern for the child involved, goes to find them. When he arrives Qui Gon is waving Obi Wan at Xanatos going โI got you a baby brother.โ
Feemor, somehow both too young and too old for this shit, goes โFor Kriffs sake, Qui Gonโ and briefly steals Obi Wan.ย
At some point Obi Wan and Xanatos bond enough that the next time that Xanatos tells Qui Gon that Xan is going to kill him, Obi Wan pipes up saying that Qui Gon was the only master ho would take him and Obi wan really wants to be a Jedi.
Xanatos now has a new mission, to find a new Master for his little brother, so he can go back to trying to murder Qui Gon. (For handwavy reasons, weโll call it the repudiation, Feemor is not allowed to take Obi Wan as a Padawan-Xanaots asked).ย
So now we have the weirdest chase in history. Qui Gon is vibing and chasing Xanatos. Xantos is leading Qui Gon on a chase and looking for another Jedi Master without getting skewered (because of the darksider thing). Obi Wan is being dragged along with Qui Gon, hoping that he gets to learn something about being a jedi before he is killed? He is not even sure. Feemor is following Qui Gon and Obi Wan, occasionally confiscating Obi Wan, because he is not sure anyone should be exposed to this much Qui Gon over any length of time.ย
They are also utterly ignoring both the senate and the Jedi council. Well Feemor and Qui Gon are ignoring the Jedi Council and the Senate. Xanatos, since he is not part of the Jedi Order any longer, is not bound to either.ย Obi Wan is actually filling out the required reports to the best of his abilities but the information boils down to โWe continue to ignore the assigned mission, I am thirteen (having had a birthday in the interim) and cannot change that. Feemor is quite kind when he abducts me.โ
You may or may not have guessed but this clusterfuck lands on Galidraan.ย Just before the fighting between Jango Fettโs True Mandalorians and Dookuโs Jedi is due to erupt.ย Qui Gon wanders through the tense standoff, stops and with no context whatsoever goes โOh, everyone here is being trickedโ. With him is thirteen year old Obi Wan, a tiny child.ย Xanatos, who beat them to the planet by about an hour strides dramatically as fuck from the other side of the potential battlefield shouting out โQui Gon Jinn, you assโฆโ before clocking the Jedi and going โJediโ.
Feemor also lands and exits his ship from yet another direction, already looking like he had a headache, going โQui Gon, what he Kriffโ.ย
Now the tense standoff between the Madalorians and the Jedi is derailed as everyone involved goes from violent rage to baffled rage. Also everyone recognizes that there is now a kid on the battlefield and no one wants to be the one to fight a tiny child. This does eventually defuse things enough that contacts can be exchanged and everyone gets to realize that the governor is the asshole.
Qui Gon refuses to elaborate (and frankly is unable to elaborate, he has no information only vibes) on the โEveryone is being trickedโ thing. Or what he meant when he wandered up to Jango Fett, peered at him, and told him โYouโre not the right one, but I wonโt hold it against youโ (what Qui Gon means, even if he doesnโt realize it, is that Jango is not Cody).ย At some point or another during the time that they are figuring this out, everyone in the combined party of Jedi/Darksiders/Mandalorians/Other says โFor Kriffs sake, Qui Gonโ (This includes two Deathwatch prisoners captured during the campaign).
Throughout this Xanatos keeps trying to corner other Jedi to get them to take on Obi Wan, except he is also not great at communicating his intentions, so it is perceived that he is trying to get rid of Obi Wan so that he can have Qui Gon to himself.ย No one is willing to question any further, though most are a little freaked out.ย
IDEA 2
The second idea is not quite as detailed. Itโs a Read/Watch the series.ย Again we start from Qui Gon telling Obi Wan that he is destined to fall. The Force pulls everyone (initiates, knights, Masters, and the Council members) in the area outside of time where they watch the Movies and shows (Starting with TPM and watching in chronological Order: The prequels, The Clone Wars, Kenobi, the OT) with a focus on Obi Wan Kenobi.ย ย
So everyone gets to go โOh, Obi Wan is actually awesomeโ. Except of course for Obi Wan, who nearly has a breakdown believing that this is proof that he should not be a Jedi knight (somehow convinced that the Purge/Order 66 is actually his own fault).ย
So now Obi Wan has a plethora of Masters who want to train him (including Qui Gon, who again believes that Obi Wan must be the Chosen One) , additional trauma of survivor's guilt before the events that he survived, and a shiny new appointment with the mind healers. He also has the admiration of the initiates that had previously bullied him.ย
The Jedi council is able to piece together enough information on the Sith to try and change things, with varying results.
New padawan Obi-Wan trying to figure out how the FUCK to make his master listen and not abandon him to go running off following "the will of the force" when it hits him. Qui-Gon is perfectly happy stopping and taking care of pathetic life forms, but not Obi-Wan. That's it. He's always been prepared, always been dutiful, strong, self-sufficient.
He's cracked the code. He needs to be more pathetic.
The next time he senses Qui-Gon's about to run off he coordinates a scene of utmost pathetic-ness, that is, he throws himself into the nearest fountain. He trudges up to his master sopping wet, water-logged robes swallowing him, with hair sticking to his face and containing bits of algae from the fountain. He mumbles out an apology for being clumsy before looking up at Qui-Gon with the biggest, most woeful eyes possible to ask if he happened to bring any spare robes (he didn't, Obi-Wan knows this because he is usually the one to pack spare robes for them both). His wet hair is dripping water into his eyes that's beginning to turn them an irritated red, and there's algae sliding down the side of his face, it really is masterful work.
"Oh...I'm sure I'll be able to find something by myself, it's okay Master, I know you had important work to do."
Qui-Gon visibly hesitates. Obi-Wan starts shivering. He turns to walk away. He's stopped by his Master's hand on his shoulder. His Master, who walks back with him, who gets clean clothes from their hosts, who has folded like wet flimsi and even explains his stupid, stupid plan before choosing to hotwire a hoverbike with a passenger seat! Oh, Obi-Wan really has cracked the code!
Afterwards, Obi-Wan stages an increasingly pitiful accident for himself every time his patented 'Qui-Gon Jinn Bullshit' detector goes off. Eventually, his Master stops leaving him behind at all, even giving him funny looks when he turns around and Obi-Wan isnโt next to him. It never fails to make Obi-Wan grin and run to catch up. Sure, his reputation as a perfect padawan is in tatters, alongside his dignity, but itโs a small price to pay for a place at his Masterโs side, for him to remember thereโs a place for Obi-Wan there.
When the ray shields come up on Naboo, Qui-Gon doesn't charge ahead and leave his padawan behind, he hasn't for years. He waits for Obi-Wan because it feels wrong to do otherwise, his padawan belongs at his side.
Much, much later, when Obi-Wan is drinking to the end of the war with friends, Commander Cress will ask him how he kept General Jinn from running off for entire decade. Obi-Wan laughs, informs him, and resolutely ignores the scene Quinlan is making as the man cackles and pulls up a book to shove at them both, titled Classical Conditioning 101: A guide to subtle psychological manipulation.
Even as padawan Obi-Wan knew Grandpa Dooku was stinky.
(I know canonically Dooku and Obi-Wan didnโt meet until Attack of The Clones, but screw the canon timeline. I want gremlin padawan Obi-Wan and grumpy rat-bastard Master Dooku to meet).

There are three types of AU I dislike and have a very low chance for me in LCF fandom
1. OG!Cale is KRS
They are similar, yes, but they are very much different people.
It's just weird, in my opinion, to have them as 'one.'
Having ogCale as KRS is like telling ogKRS never exist.
I don't really know how to explain it but what make lcfCale more charming is his life as KRS and having him as ogCale also take away that charm.
2. Whatever the name where it's just ogCale with lcfCale's achievements
As much as I love Raon to meet ogCale, it's only make sense IF lcfCale/ogKRS is there too.
I hate it when they just copy-paste lcfCale achievements and dump them to ogCale.
I will give it a chance if the word-building is actually make sense but most, if not all, is just a copy.
Without lcfCale, many who died still have to die.
Cale is smart, i know, but he will not in lcfCale level, with him with more experience and ogCale is just a teenager who never actually experience the hard of life that involved many deaths beside his mother's death and his trash persona.
It doesn't make sense he know about lcfCale's APs.
IF by some miracle he know the future, it will be not in detail like how lcfCale read the novel.
IF by some miracle Raon is alive and follow ogCale, he will not be Raon.
And even if he did heard about Raon, I don't think he will know that he is a baby dragon, a tortured baby at that.
3. Modern LCF AU
This is an AU I hate the most.
Having this is erased BOTH ogCale and ogKRS.
Because transmigration is so damn impossible, like, why would that happened?
You can't make modern lcfCale lcfCale because by that their entire lore will be VERY MUCH different.
Abuse will not adding up here because I don't think Deruth will stop that low.
What make lcfCale lcfCale is him as ogKRS and when you take that away, lcfCale will not be lcfCale.
Actually, modern lcfCale is probably the most healthiest mentaly among all Cale and KRS.
The only big misfortune is probably the same as ogCale and he will surely not going ogCale's path if his personality is anything to goes by.
The curse will not exist because if it is than I don't think deruth, hell, maybe Ron too, will not last that long.

As a fandom, we are missing out on a crucial element of regression. Making people other than Cale do this. Later on in the first novel we see a peak into this idea- though more alternate universe flavored.
Eruhaben wakes up 20 years ago. On the dot, he bursts into Henituse Mansion, precisely 24 hours after Cale's birth, and wrangles himself into being The Dragon Father. This is similar to being the God Father, but a dragon barges into your house and says if you don't want him to steal your baby you better let him have visiting rights. No, your child doesn't have even a speck of mage ability. He just looks kind of neat.

I feel like y'all don't see parents as people. Because they are. They're flawed people who existed before you and carry their own burdens.
Yeah, there are some really shitty people out there who force their burdens on their children. There are parents out there who never let their children know they had a burden at all. Everyone is different. They carry their burdens differently, and some people crumple beneath them.
Deruth crumpled beneath the burden of his wife's death and failed to be an emotional support figure for his son.
I don't think this makes him evil, just weak.

Er, no. I'll never promote Deruth as the father of the year, but the way people take what we don't know about the relationship between og!Cale and him to make Deruth the sole cause of Cale's problems...
you do a disservice to og!Cale's character. He had his own reasons for what he did, and he himself refers to them as his family when he spoke with krs!Cale. Why would he sign up for a war to avenge people who he felt neglected by? he wasn't just some victim, he played an active role in his life the same way krs played an active role in his og!life.
