Friendly reminder that Damen snapped into murderous rage and could barely endure a few weeks of being the target of the Regent's machinations and rumours, saying himself how it was beyond anything he had to go through - and he was a self-assured, confident adult, surrounded by his army and Nikandros.
Laurent had to endure that for years since he was 13 years old, alongside all the types of abuse his uncle inflicted on him, completely alone in a Court that also heavily sexualized and despised him since he was that young. That's why I think (and Damen does too btw) that Laurent is the strongest character - it must have taken unbelievable mental fortitude to survive all this, and retain inside his core traits (honor, fairness, empathy and kindness).
Captive Prince thought of the day (as if I only have one Captive Prince thought per day which is simply not true, but we can pretend):
Is there anyone who read the below line and could resist elevating Laurent to most iconic fictional character status for it? This guy just learned devastating news in a very gruesome way and he delivers this absolute stunner?
An icon among men.
So you're telling me. When hudson was 17, a student from his school drew something hateful on his face, and he has to make a statement and dissappear from the face of the Earth. But Connor Storrie can paint a white supremacist cross on his face, do a little photoshoot and use it as a cover for a track on his soundcloud where he's following people called Sunny Holocaust and he doesn't need to say anytying about that or even acknowledge it? Yeah, I'm out.
all this stuff coming out about connor makes hudson’s incident seem super mild 😭 like he was torn to shreds for essentially being hate crimed but here connor willingly drew a white supremacist symbol on himself, followed more than 1 nazi account, and liked several tracks with nazi speech in them
Its because, and truly believe me I do not mean this offensively, few people care about connor outside of his physical appearance. Hudson objectively gets more traction because hes a big personality with a pretty face. See, companies recognize the hell out of hudson's star power which is why they pushed him to far so fast. Not just anyone becomes the most talked about male celeb at the oscars 4-5 months after their debut. With connor, he couldnt even get enough people to actually look at his soundcloud even after the official soundcloud account basscally advertised his likes in FEBRUARY which is why this is all coming out 4 months later. Connor's very pretty, he's snatched, and a good actor, and thats all anybody expects him to be and that doesnt need to be talked about. He will never leave that uniform spot that so many other white men fill in hollywood because he just isn't that guy. Connor is ysl and tiffany while hudson is Viviano Sue, dolce and gabbana, balenciaga, bvlgari, and so much more. And I mean that literally and metaphorically. Hudson gets worse hate because he grabs more attention, connor gets less because no ones looking for anything outside of him being pretty on their screens. Thats just how it goes for white men with fame, they look cute get famous and no one cares when theyre vile because no one cares when they do anything! I'm saying he's a nobody or anything like that but he gets all the perks of fame without needing to like so anything at all or be a good person.

this is incredible (x)
Zane- I love the usage of your puns. Have you always been this punny? :)
Zane: I don’t know, I was born this way I guess.
Ty: You were born defective, you giant punning douche.
Tyler, what was the sweetest thing that Zane has done to you lately? And Ty to you, Zane?
Ty: I don’t know. It kind of depends on your definition of sweet. Zane’s not one for romantic gestures, but he does things every day that I’d call sweet. If he has to get up in the middle of the night, he takes his pillow and pushes it up against me because it’s warm and smells like him. He knows what I like for breakfast, and he starts fixing it before I’m even back from my morning run. he sends me messages during the day when he sees something that he thinks I’d find interesting or funny. I think I’d call all of those sweet, because it’s something he doesn’t have to do, or he goes out of his way to do, just because.
Zane: The sweetest thing Ty’s done for me lately is answer that question.
Ty if you found cats that look exactly like smith and Wesson would you adopt them without Zane's permission
Ty: No. We’re partners in every sense of the word, and he’s earned the right from me to be involved in decisions.
Zane: Wow, Ty, that’s really mature of you.
Ty: No matter how happy those decisions would make me.
Zane: Okay.
Ty: So happy.
Zane: Ty…
Ty: Kitties, Zane.
Zane: Next question.
While we are busy talking about heated rivalry and enemies-to-lovers, meanwhile i’m over here thinking about how criminally underrated Cut & Run by Abigail Roux is.
we were THIS close to getting Ty and Zane on screen and the universe robbed us.
my first love. my first obsession. countless rereads later, they still have me in a chokehold.
Ty and Zane are romance done right…..messy, funny, heartbreaking, healing, and above all, love.. ❤️🥲
That fandom needs to be revived….its a need!!

Rewatching Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie after two decades and realizing how much of it was “perfect wife” propaganda. These women literally had magical powers, yet so much of the story was about being pretty, agreeable, domestic, and making sure the men around them were comfortable. Watching as an adult is certainly an experience. 😭
Long live the alliance!

'What is it?' Laurent looked at Damen, who had detached himself and was sitting with the sheet pulled up to where he had clutched it to cover himself. And then, with the burgeoning delight of discovery, 'Are you shy?'
In a system that usually asks people to choose — be legible to us, or be legible to them — Hudson Williams appears to have simply declined the choice. . .
And I found myself watching a young Asian man stand under the Golden Globes lights, completely unguarded, received by white-dominated Hollywood with genuine delight — and looking like nothing the industry had ever deliberately produced. He hadn’t been media-trained into blandness. He hadn’t distanced himself from the show’s fanbase to seem more serious, more Hollywood, more palatable. He’d arrived exactly as he was, from exactly where he came from.
I started wondering: how did he get here? And what does it mean that he did? . . .
But here’s what the origin story usually glosses over: he wasn’t waiting to be discovered. He was already making things. Writing, directing, acting in short films with friends from Langara College, scrappy productions with no budget and no audience, made purely because he couldn’t not make them. The creativity wasn’t something fame unlocked. It was already fully formed, running quietly in the background of a life that had no particular reason to go anywhere extraordinary.
Heated Rivalry didn’t create Hudson Williams. It just gave the rest of the world a reason to look.
And when it did — when HBO picked up a low-budget queer Canadian hockey drama that had no business travelling as far as it did — what the world found wasn’t a star being manufactured. It was someone who had already done the work, on his own terms, long before anyone was paying attention.
That distinction matters. Because it changes what his story is actually about. . . . Asian men have occasionally been permitted entry, but on much stricter terms. The opportunities given to Simu Liu and Henry Golding were real and hard-won, but they came with an unspoken condition: don’t fail. A white leading man can have three flops and still find himself back on a major studio slate. The failure gets absorbed by the system. For an Asian leading man, a misstep tends to be read differently — not as a bad film, but as evidence that audiences simply don’t connect with someone who looks like him. The margin for error is not the same. What’s quietly remarkable about Hudson Williams is that he never had to negotiate those terms. The industry didn’t get to decide whether to bet on him. By the time Hollywood was paying attention, the audience had already decided — and the audience, it turned out, was enormous. please read this article!!!!
Hudson Williams and the accidental reinvention of the Asian male lead
Hudson’s short film RANCID has been nominated for three awards at the Kelowna Independent Film Festival:
- Best Lead Performer (Hudson Williams)
- Best Director (Hudson Williams and Alex Vance)
- Best Okanagan Film (Rancid)

(This might not win me any fans)
But the fact that a lot of us have been in the trenches since LAST year saying so hey yeah, what’s happening with Hudson is NOT okay and we were told that saying anything won’t help things and it’ll just make it worse and then everything that has happened in the last week to the only POC main.
And then now here we are and Crave never once stood up for their talent and (this could also apply to the openly queer actors too), then the OC camp comes out within weeks of their show airing and is like so here’s what you bitches aren’t gonna do and I’m laughing so I don’t lose it to be honest.
I wanna say so much about this situation but above summaries it perfectly!!
i do love and respect the idea of the world at large being stunned at finding out how long ilya and shane have been together, but i truly think that under NO circumstances would shane ever choose to offer ANY personal details about himself or their relationship willingly.
which combined with ilya loving just making things up and saying them (as seen in the "yes, the rumors are true-" scene) offers the very funny idea that ilya actively tries to offer as much privacy as possible by just throwing out stories about them at random so there IS no central story for people to hound shane about.
assorted backstories a la "ilya just started talking and found out with everyone else where he was going with this":
they got snowed in at all stars one year (b-but wasn't that year in florida?) and decided there was nothing better to do
it started as a bit and neither is willing to give up first
they paired off to combine forces like nato
they paired off to limit how many kids they could have in the future to make sure hockey stayed fair
ilya lost a bet six years ago
shane lost a bet three years ago
ilya got tired of remembering phone numbers for his hookups and shane's is easy
ilya got tired of having to look things up in english and french when talking to other people and decide to marry someone who speaks two languages to save time
shane is gifted enough (wink wink wink) that other people are cowards and only ilya was brave enough to rise to the challenge (this one gets him in trouble on the phone later but it also gets him laid that night at home and also confuses the online speculation about who tops and bottoms, so net positive tbh)
yuna hollander is the best manager in the business and a political marriage was the best way to secure her services longterm
with the end result that all shane has to do is shrug and "my husband has already told our story a thousand times by this point. no point in repeating it and boring people." in interviews to get out of people trying to dig into things he doesn't want to tell them.
