you're truly believe hudson didn't know about the picture where we can see the swastika on his face? the picture posted in one of his friend's vsco who he followed? you seriously believe that? and you don't think that if he was hate-crimed by those individuals he would tell them to take that picture down OR stop being friends with them? also, no the pictures of the white guys with swastikas are from the same year, the one with the hitler moustache too. and please, let's stop acting dumb you guys know that AIDS written as big as it was on their shirts is on purpose, doesn't matter if it's someone's nickname (mind you, nobody in this fucking world has that nickname if not for the purpose of being offensive). connor needs to be called out for all the things you've pointed out but you people are not doing that for morality reasons, it's about fanwars over two GROWN MEN who don't know any of you
I believe it is ridiculous for any fan to try and hold a celebrity accountable for anything because we don't have the means to do so; we can't access them. I believe its important to have discussions on the double standards in how this fandom treats not only the two leads but the poc fans as well, and the racism it perpetuates. Fans should be mad when its Hudson but get over it and stop exaggerating when its Connor. I believe a grown white man actively liking songs/artist with nazi aesthetics on his public soundcloud is an act of racism because of his disregard for the severity of co-opting crimes against poc and its a repeated pattern. I dont think that makes him a neo nazi, he just did something racist and it sucks and people are allowed to be hurt seeing that. As a result, I personally don't feel compelled to continue following that man's career right now. I also think its a little twisted that fans try to compare that to a single incident of a teenager being drawn on that was found through copious amounts of cyberstalking. Not only is it still impossible to hold him accountable as fans, its absurd to try to do that with a minor eight years after the fact. I do think it was a racist thing to do to him because branding a poc with a swastika is racist no matter how you spin it. I'm not him and don't know him; I don't know how much it affected him overall or what his thought process was after learning what was on his face whenever he did, but I'm not about to sensationalize the innactions of a teenager eight years ago as a racist act. I do believe him when he says he didnt know at the time it happened, maybe he did find out at some point that same night but my point is that he did not ask for it or endorsed it. He didn't draw it on himself or anyone else, he didn't know it was being drawn on him, didn't take the photo, and didn't post it but is still being held responsible for its presence online. The innactions of a 17 year old eight years ago is being held to much higher expectations of responsibility than the actions of a 26 year old man right now. That is an issue worthy of discussion. That is racist double standard and that is affecting me and a lot of other people in this fandom who actually give a shit when racism occurs. This fandom sees things so black and white they save no room for nuance. Its either "you're a nazi or not racist at all", "its a violent hate crime or its not racist at all", "he makes a statement or he gets cancelled". I'm just talking about it, updating people as info comes out, and letting people vent but I'm done now. Be less parasocial, do what you think its best and come to your own conclusions. Goodbye.
