So, the show has decided to completely rewrite the canon.
Rhaenyra and daemon's crimes are whitewashed, she's turned into a saint caring for the common folk and mysaria goes from a sex trafficker to a voice for the ppl.
Rhaenyra canonically taxes the commonfolk, throws a grand party for Joffery, orders the killing of all dragonseeds including alyn (who was always loyal) and even orders nettles (loyal and only 16) to be killed, thereby violating guest rights.
Daemon repeats his creepy grooming tactics with nettles, gets attached to her, let's her go to live out her days peacefully and goes on a suicidal battle against aemond.
Alicent doesn't care for her sons. She doesn't care for her grandson. She is a victim of patriarchy who exists to get assaulted to show how evil the men around her are.
In the books she loved her sons, was a very powerful and cunning politician, an important green council member and fought to the bitter end. She ordered larys to learn blood and cheese's real names so she could bathe in the blood of his wife and kids. She wept when she heard of Jaehaera being safe. She went mad with grief and resentment towards the end.
She was respected and was basically the evil stepmother archetype for Rhaenyra.
Aegon is turned into r@pist, a bad husband, watches children in fighting pits and a bad brother.
In cannon, he loved his brothers, shared rooms with haelena, listened to Alicent's advices and SPARED kids after the war ended.
Aemond literally DIED for the green cause. He sacrificed himself/vhagar and took out daemon + caraxes. Aegon celebrating Luke's murder by throwing a feast tells you everything you need to know about their bond. Aegon orders golden statues to be commissioned for aemond and Daeron. He loved them and they clearly loved him and fought for him loyally.
Haelena's trauma and death triggered the rebellion and caused Rhaenyra to flee. She was a BELOVED queen, Rhaenyra was NOT. the literal author states this fact. Haelena also advised aegon and he listened to her council. She was a normal girl who was well liked by the ppl of the city, not an infantalized, clueless idiot as shown in the show.
Daeron had targaryen features and hair just like his siblings. He EARNS the name 'Daeron the daring' by winning battles for the hightower army and getting Knighted by Lord ormund Hightower.
Speaking of ormund, he raised the largest land army to March for AEGON II. He was a very good military commander and his death in battle caused confusion and chaos in his army.
I'm not even going to talk about other green council members right now, and members of blacks have been lobotomized as well.
