Eating Disorder Triggered Again: About side effects of depression and bipolar meds, Long lamented is weight gain, also memory loss....but I had a third side efct called Tardive Dyskinesia. Apparently 'Too Terrible To Talk About' Still. I was a free content provider, 'blogger' for a magazine that advertises a medicine that causes Tardive...by about 20%, (at lowest estimates-NAMI's estimates are 30%-a50%). This Magazine kept going back and forth if I could do a puff, positive 'Moving along with life with a movement Disorder' but bailed again. "No, No, and No." they said. I ended up relapsing on my eating disorder. It's like cutting.

It's on the TV ads for popular drugs for 'bipolar depression.' So many people are on these meds that in 2015 Abilify was the #1 selling drug in the world. You may be on Abilify or a copycat 'atypical antipsychotic.' Here is a story about how likely you would be to get this movement disorder. I'm in a depression, have flipped the burger and the underside is not 100% raw.

I don't want to be inconsistent with who I am and my values. I don't want to be swallowed whole by depression's symptoms and violate my core values: fitness, balance, socializing even though I feel like hell. I want to learn to write for publications that feature things other than manic depression for a while. Like NYT "Modern Love." or Wash Post "Speaking of Science." But I need to study. I need the time to do that.

Additionally, to that, I need to keep advocating for myself regarding the loss of my grant for Tardive Dyskinesia (TD) Medications. Right now it looks like a 2017 without TD medications. Did you see "the good wife?" Michael J Fox's character, Louis Canning, had Tardive Dyskinesia, (TD) but they never said exactly why he took the drugs (atypical antipsychotics) that he got it from. They ended the show before they could do that.

In Bipolar Depression, Again but no hospital unless it gets markedly worse.

Not taking a shower for a week or failing to brush my teeth on a particular day doesn't make me want to submit to the rigamarole my local hospital would put me through. I had a runthrough in May, when my best friend called the cops and lied to them, telling them I had threatened to kill myself. I was cuffed and taken away and kept in a holding tank with some correctional officer warden types for 7 hours and released as soon as a shrink had time to evaluate me. It wasn't a humane experience and I only survived it because I'm not particularly a danger to myself or others, but am a pain in the ass to myself in my head. When I wake up in the am, the first thought I have is trying to find a way out....the opposite of life but I do not and have never had 'a plan.' The way psychiatry is practiced today, 5 day stays instead of 20 or 30, expecting med changes to fix everything when they haven't even gotten to know you....it only has a 1/3 chance of working, statistically. I don't like those odds. I can play that game outside the hospital, so I will. Allison
