Astrid Reyes

“You’re welcome. Like I said you deserve them because you seem like an awesome, amazing person.” He did have his nice and sweet moments like right now. “Cheers!” He told her, before he took a sip of his own beer. A small smile resting on his lips.

“Aww. Welp, thanks! I think you seem pretty awesome too!” She told him as she clinked her glass against his. 

Grace laughed lightly, shaking her head.  “Oh it’s fine,” she assured her.  “I’ve been called way worse than Stan.  Her name is Carter though.  We’ve been friends for what feels like ever.”

“Wait- Carter Pierce?” Astrid asked, her eyes widening as she heard that name. “I- I know exactly where she is. I’m actually really good friends with the family,” She admitted, biting down on her lower lip as she spoke.

“Oh a fighter sounds good too.  I’m not sure which would be better.  Maybe the gut instinct of the rogue is what I should do.”  She tilted her head curiously at the girl, beginning to realize that she was going to be doing a lot more than just playing a board game for an hour or two.  “Lore books?  Wow, so you really go all out?  Does the character need a full name or just a first name?” she asked.  

“I’d say go with Rogue then!” Astrid smiled over at her happily. “Oh yeah. Welp, I’m a DM. That means Dungeon Master. But, it’s the narrator or head of the game, so I kinda need to know all the rules,” She told the other with a little smile, leaving out the part how if they were really going to go all out they would have all come wearing costumes. “Full name!”

Astrid’s words were greeted with a solid nod considering Sophie didn’t exactly wish to talk to the last person she’d slept with considering that was what came with the title of a one night stand. Just some rando in a bar who’d ended up back at her place. She could almost feel the anger radiating through the phone as she spoke to her older brother but it was Astrid’s face that made her lean back in her chair, hands going to her face as she tried to prevent herself from laughing too loudly. Once the call was over, however, she removed her hands and only shook her head at her friend, “Oh, I’m not calling him back. If I know Teo he’s going to yell at me like I’m ten and we can’t have that,” she commented as she turned her phone to silent and slid it into the pocket of her jeans. “Go easy on you? Oh, honey, it’s like you don’t know me at all,” she teased as she took a moment to look around and think of a dare. “Oo! I dare you to flirt with the next person that walks through the door. That’s simple enough. I’ll even accept a cheesy pick up line but I have faith in you.”

“But- but I don’t know how to flirt?” Astrid admitted at Sophie’s dare, letting out a little sigh, before turning around in her chair and glancing over at the first person who walked into the coffee shop. “Oh fine,” She let out a sigh, getting up out of her chair and walking straight up to Noah Armstrong as he walked into the coffee shop to get a late night cookie before heading home. “Hi,” She told him, cutting him off before he made it to the counter. “Um... hi?” He responded, with a raised eyebrow, glancing back and forth before he noticed Sophie in the back of the store and gave her a confused look, before turning back towards Astrid. “You have an aesthetically pleasing face. Can I have your number?” Astrid asked, blatantly, not even bothering to bead around the bush. “What? Oh um... sure?” He told her letting out a little laugh as he handed her his phone. “Thank you!” She told him, as she took his phone and sent herself a text, waving good bye before she went back to Sophie’s table and slide into the seat across from her. “Mission accomplished. Sort of? Anyways, your turn!”

When Astrid began to take what she had just said a tad bit too literally, Gianna felt her eyes widen since she couldn’t fathom having to explain it but once it clicked, she let out a laugh since it had been much funnier to see the girls reaction instead. “Don’t worry, I understand what you mean perfectly. But mummy needs to have a social life somehow so this was just as good of an opportunity as any in my book considering I’m glad as well. —Shall we have another go?”

“Yeah. I get that. It’s kinda why I like doing this whole thing. I know Game Night is dorky and everything, but it’s a chance to make friends and meet new people, you know? Branch out and all that,” Astrid told her with a little smile. “And sure! Do you want to pick your ideal man this time or should we find a girl for Noah?”

Eliza narrowed her eyes and smiled nervously. She thought for a moment and pointed to Noah. She shrugged, never playing this game before she hoped she was doing it correctly.

Astrid gave Eliza a little nod, smiling over at the brunette as she mouthed towards the woman ‘he’s not the killer’, before turning back towards the group and putting on her most dramatic narrator voice. “Villagers awaken, or well, open your eyes. You all wander into the coffee shop on a beautiful morning. The grass is covered a light layer of dew and the sounds of birds chirping can be heard outside. But, something has gone horribly wrong. As you walk into the shop, you see Noah Armstrong asphyxiated by coffee beans. That’s right. Before the shop opened it seems someone pulled Noah inside and suffocated him using the left over coffee grinds. Who would do such a thing? With the expensive brand of expresso no less?” She narrated. Noah let out a deep laugh pretending to fall out of his chair and play dead that brought a smile to Astrid’s face. “It seems Noah is out of the running. But, now villagers, you have the chance to discuss between you all who you think the murder might be. You can nominate up to two different people and then vote. The person with the most votes will be booted off the island,” Astrid explained. “So discuss?”

“You’d be perfectly fine, and just as beautiful as ever but I’m glad you can still do all that and have me in your life,” he told her honestly. He got more and more honest with Astrid every day it seemed. He didn’t hesitate to let her know that he thought she was a beautiful person inside and out. He grinned as she intertwined their fingers, walking over to the mat. “Now that’s the modern day fairytale. Your knight in a t-shirt and jeans. Still as capable of saving the day as those that wear shinin’ armor.” Damien knew which one of them would lose and it was undoubtedly going to be him. He tended to get very distracted by her on occasion. “You never know he might stretch his legs out and forget that arthritis and beat us both,” he teased. “But I’m ready…probably sure have worn some sweats for this but I’m good my limbs are longer so…I’ve got strategies.”

“That’s not true,” she told him honestly, shaking her head as she looked over at him. “I need you. You’re the first person I want to see when I have news,” She admitted with a little blush before quickly adding under her breath, “Don’t tell Liv that though.” She gave his hand a little squeeze as they walked over to the mat, quirking an eye up at him as he spoke. “You want to be my fairytale, Pierce?” Astrid asked him, playfully, as she smiled up at him. “I know you’re joking, but that would be one heck of a sight to see,” Astrid let out a little laugh at the though. “Strategies? Oh? Like what?” She asked, standing up on her tippy toes so that she could look at Damien in the eyes, giving him her a teasing squint before falling back down on her heels and picking up the spinning. “Right hand blue?”

Liv: He was probably bored out of his mind.

Liv: Although what did he say?

Grace chuckled.  “That’s a very good point.  You being good at finding stuff is sort of expected if you’re a Hufflepuff,” she told her, amusement sparkling in her eyes.  “Perfect!  Then we’ll make it work,” Grace replied as she picked a piece of pepperoni off her pizza and ate it.

“It does, doesn’t it?” She let out a little laugh, scrunching up her nose a tiny bit at the thought. “So, what’s your friend’s name?” She asked, resting her head in her hands as she looked over at Grace expectantly. “Great! Sounds like a plan, Stan- Not that your name is Stan. Sorry. Force of habit,” She added as the saying spilled out of her mouth before she could stop herself.

This was a lot for Amari to figure out, but she was determined.  This could be a really fun hobby if she managed to figure it out.  “Oh good, it would be a little weird if they were more Santa than Lord of the Rings,” she chuckled.  “Honestly I’m not sure what the difference is, especially between the magical options.  Maybe just a rogue?”

“Well a Rogue is essentially a thief. They’re actually my favorite to start with other than maybe a fighter, because with fighters you can be bandit kings which is pretty cool! I actually have a bunch of books on it, if you want to read the lore something?” Astrid told her with a happy smile. She really did love this kind of stuff, no matter how nerdy it might seem. “Oh! But, now that you’ve picked your species and class. You just need to pick a name and then roll this 20 sided die six times to get your character’s abilities. There’s a lot more to character building than that, but for the basics of the game, we’ll play the most simple quick version.”

“I don’t think it’s possible to have a good one when people in this world can be just plain strange. And even when you think you do, things just end up being more lackluster than expected,” she commented since while she couldn’t relate completely, she understood to a sense. “That was a plus side, though, and now you can say that you’ve had a pet tortoise once in your life.” Her head tilted to one side as she heard Astrid’s dare, eyebrows raising slightly but nodding slightly, “Fair enough,” she said, pulling out her cell phone. She opened her texts to check who she’d last texted but the sad truth was that it was her older brother. “I have instant regrets,” she murmured, putting her phone on the table and dialing Teo’s number as she put it on speaker, “RIP me because I’m pretty sure my brothers gonna murder me via phone,” she murmured. A deep sounding voice came through the phone as Sophie said, “Hola, hermano,” in faux sadness.

“Josie? Que pasa? What’s going on?” Teo asked, alertness in his tone as Sophie herself curled a strand of hair through her fingers, “Listen, I… I need to tell you something but you can’t tell mami or papi. I.. Well, it would just be too much.” There was a murmur on the other line that sounded like Teo saying for fucks sake, Josephine since he was beyond used to holding her secrets at this point. But in the end, a soft ‘mhm’ came through from the other side as she kept up her charade, “I went to the doctor recently because I haven’t been fee–” she was cut off, “Are you pregnant?!” A laugh left her on accident, covering her mouth as she tried to gain her composure before saying, “No, of course not. But… but this is much worse. The doctor told me that I have Chlamydia.” There was silence from the other end before a frustrated groan left her brother. “Hermanita, what the hell? Do you really expect me not to tell mami and papi this when your health is on the line?!” There was a shuffle in the background as Sophie propped her elbow on the table as she scrunched her nose, shooting Astrid a look, “I mean, why would you when it was only a dare and you’re gullible as fuck?” She finally admitted, “Say ‘hello’ Astrid!”

“Hey- at least it wasn’t someone you’ve slept with, right? Because then you’d have to probably tell them they should also be checked? Which I mean they probably should. I mean everyone should! Not just because they slept with you... And I’m gonna shut up now,” Astrid rambled on, giving Sophie a sheepish smile, before she covered her hands over her mouth to keep herself from giggling as Soph made the call. It was all fun and games, right until the moment Sophie told her to say hi. Her face turning white as a ghost as she quickly pipped up into the line, “Astrid’s not here right now. Please leave a message after the beep- bye.” Leaning over the table and pressing the end button at the call in a panic, before turning back over to Sophie and mumbling out, “You can call him back later. And I pick dare? I guess? Just go easy on me?”

As Astrid mulled over the date options, Gianna propped her elbow on the table as she smiled since the way the girl was making everything fit together was very impressive. Despite being declared the winner she still felt like the other contender needed a positive so she said, “Technically, all you would need in the hazmat suit would be one hole if you really wanted to keep the relationship normal.” There were strong sexual connotations to her joke but that’s where her sense of humor tended to go; crude and limitless. Nodding at the woman, Gianna was quick to straighten, “Oh, definitely, I’m having a load of fun. Much better than going home and cleaning up my daughters toys,” she laughed.

“But a hole would let the smell in and then you wouldn’t exactly need the suit now, would you- ohhhh. I get it now,” Astrid bite down on her lip and let out a little laugh as she realized the joke, just a second too late. “Aww. I’m glad. Not that kids aren’t a great use of your time or anything. That’s not- you know what I mean,” She rambled on, before telling the other, “I just mean I’m really glad you decided to play, Gi.”
