can somebody explain to me like i’m 5 how the ending of conjuring last rites was supposed to work? i’m sorely disappointed but i also feel like i missed something somehow. (spoilers under cut)

how did they manage to defeat the 3 demons by embracing the visions/their senses and simply touching the mirror? when the main goal of the demons was to get judy to succumb to them? am I supposed to believe their faith in god pulled through for them again after literally every attempt at using crosses, bibles, holy water, etc. throughout the film failed miserably?

usually this franchise does a phenomenal job of explaining the supernatural plot lines but I was sitting there at the end confused as all hell. i was also left wondering why they chose to spend the last movie of the franchise focused on judy’s backstory and judy getting married instead of the supernatural and wrapping up ed and lorraine’s story. part of me could have forgiven the judy of it all if i felt they developed the supernatural plot to a fulfilling end. but it really felt like the writers decided they were done right when the action was finally getting good and just put a period on an incomplete sentence and washed their hands of it.

#no because same #conjuring spoilers #it was weird I can’t forgive the floppy explanation when the logic behind the other ghost and demon banishments have been good #I also cannot forgive how short father Gordon’s scary scene was #he should’ve been able to fight more #it’s not like he would let his guard down in a church it’s not the first time he’s experienced evil on sacred ground #and the big bad was still at the front of his mind when he went there
