"Hello Sir, It's Nice To Finally Meet You"

So the upcoming live action Scooby-Doo show released this teaser:

People have been weirdly overly negative about this show, but I thought "that's cute" so posted it to a few discords I'm in. And to my (somewhat) not surprise, people were commenting on how "bad" it looked. Then I posted the teaser video:

And everyone were "wait? I thought the dog was CGI?"

When I asked to elaborate why they thought it was CGI their responses were

"His eyes are blue!" (Not really they are more of a grey, and looking it up that's not an uncommon Great Dane eye color)

"He doesn't look like a Great Dane!" (Look up photos of Great Dane puppies. That's what they look like, although I will grant the angle of the still photo kind hides his snout)

"They got the ears wrong!" (Cartoon Scooby's ears are cropped, Great Danes have naturally floppy ears, and cropping is very controversial but thankfully declining a lot in the US)

Bit more complicated than that.

The UK banned slavery in England in 1772, but this only applied to someone being enslaved in England specifically and then sent to another country.

The UK later banned trading in slaves in 1807, specifically to screw over the United States, but ships were still allowed to dock at port to resupply, though if any slave made it off the ship and out of the port, then they were legally free from that point.

1808 onwards Britain started blockading American slips trying to export slaves from Africa and both colonies and non-colonies were somewhat opposed at the start because it was a fairly widespread practice. The more threatening ones like Zanzibar and Oman eventually became protectorates of Britain and their leaders "encouraged" to reduce their slave trades.

1833 was when it was abolished across the colonies. Children were fully free but existing slaves were to be employed as paid apprentices for 5 more years after which they were allowed to seek employment elsewhere.
