Why it takes me long to reply.

Kara smiled back at Lena and said “I do too, Lee. And that’s gonna happen very soon.” Kara then entangled her fingers with Lena’s and lead her out of the bathroom. Once Kara laid her eyes on Alex she said “Alex? Lena’s water just broke.”

Lena leaned on Kara and nodded in further confirmation to Alex. Lyra had volunteered to join them. Alex, naturally, got up and drove them home. During this time, Lena had two more contractions. Once they were home, Lena changed out of her clothes into a robe and nursing bra and started pacing.

Kara wrapped her arms around Lena’s waist from behind and said “How are you feeling right now, huh?”

“Like I’m giving birth to two big babies,” she deadpanned. “Contraction, ugh,” she moaned and relaxed against Kara. “I wish they would just come out.”

Kara started rubbing Lena’s belly and started crooning. “I know, Lee, I know. They’ll be here soon. I promise.”

Lena opened her mouth to speak but just ended up groaning loudly. “But if they come out I can’t protect them from the bad things…” she whispered once she wasn’t contracting.

“Of course you can. We will always protect them to the best of our abilities.” Kara held Lena closer and started rocking her slightly.

Lena always felt so safe in Kara’s arms. “I love you so much.”

Kara nuzzled Lena. “I love you too, Babe.”

Lena suddenly dropped into a squat and looked up, locking her eyes onto Kara’s. “You are amazing and so beautiful.”

Kara smiled down at Lena and stroked her cheek with her thumb. “And you, My Love, are doubly so.”

“I’m about to crap out a watermelon,” she laughed. “Two watermelons! I don’t feel awesome. I’m gonna miss it.”

“Well, you are definitely awesome. You’re giving birth to two babies! I’d consider that pretty awesome.”

“I want to push them out already.” She let go of her wife and got on all fours on the floor. Alex checked her and relayed that she was at a 4.

Kara moved herself so, she was sitting cross-legged in front of Lena. “It’s gonna be a little bit but it’ll come faster than you realize.”

Lena panted, squeezing Kara’s fingers. “I’m scared…”

Kara smiled comfortingly at Lena and stroked her cheek. “What are you scared of, huh? Talking about it might help.”

“It’s gonna hurt again,” she whimpered. “What of something happens and I can’t push them out of me?”

“It’s not gonna hurt as much as it did with Will since you have powers now. I can promise that. The contractions obviously hurt just as much but the rest? Just pressure.” Kara said, giving a confident smile. “Well, if you can’t we have amazing doctors at the DEO. Everything’s gonna be okay. I promise, okay?”

Lena nuzzled Kara. She always knew just what to say. She giggled at her wife and kissed her softly. If she promised…. “Okay. Did pushing Astra out feel weird?”

Kara chuckled and said “Very weird. Especially when she was crowning and when her head popped out.”

Lena pushed her head against Kara’s, crooning and smiling. “I can do this. I can do this.” She felt like a real superhero whenever Kara was with her. She could do anything.

“Yeah, that’s right,” She cooed. “You got this.” Kara placed a kiss on Lena’s forehead and said “You’re the strongest person I know. Of course you can do this.”

Lena got up and paced, throwing her robe onto the bed, waddling around the room. Why couldn’t this go faster? “It hurts…” she whined, as if Kara could make it stop. She just wanted her girls out without all of the mess.

Kara made her way to Lena and started rubbing her back. “I know, Lee, I know.” Kara wished she could take away the pain but she knew she couldn’t.

Lena had the urge to wiggle her hips a bit so she did. “Kara…” she whined. She turned around and hugged Kara tight, moaning.

Kara held Lena tight and went back to rubbing Lena’s back. “I’ve got you, I’ve got you.”

“Don’t wanna do it,” Lena moaned into Kara’s cheek. “Don’t wanna do it, just want to see their faces…” It of course being labor. As if it could be avoided somehow. This cycle of Lena pacing and then returning to Kara to be held then dropping into a squat continued for another two hours.

Kara had given Alex a bit of an anxious look at that (not that Kara realized or meant to). Kara was getting kind of concerned but wasn’t overly concerned. “I know, Lee but that’s not exactly an option.” Kara really wished it was but that wouldn’t change what was real and what wasn’t. Kara knew that what she said wasn’t really comforting but she didn’t know what else to say.

5 hours after her water broke, Lena had dilated quickly. Lyra and Alex helped out where they could, and Lena was practically clinging to Kara for dear life by 5:30 in the morning. She was at an 8, just recently having entered transition. “I can’t do it!” Lena screeched. “Please make it stop…” She was exhausted, emotional, and very much under pressure.

Kara rubbed Lena’s back and held her tight. Kara looked into Lena’s eyes and said “Hey, you got this. Remember what I said? You are the strongest woman I know. You can do anything.”

Instead of verbally replying, Lena bellowed loudly as she squirmed in Kara’s arms. “Pressure! So much! I’m gonna explode, I gotta push!”

“Let Alex check you first, okay? But I’m very sure it’s time.” Kara knew it was almost definitely time but she just wanted to be cautious.

Lena bellowed again, dropping into a squat and grunting loudly. “I’m pushing! I can’t help it, Kara, I’m sorry!”

Kara started stroking Lena’s hair and said “It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize. You’re just doing what your body is telling you to.”
