Ask Gangle (TADC)

[Story] “ Welcome back my little double bubble baked biscuits! How was your Thanksgiving feast? “ Caine welcomed enthusiastically.

Kaufmo tried answering him, but before he could, Caine started ranting again.

“ I worked for WEEKS making your adventure map extra appealing, since it’s a special occasion! I even got The Bubble to cook up your triple bird stuffed Turkey! That’s what you humans eat on Thanksgiving, Isnt it? “

Ribbit rubbed their nose. “ I didn’t know digital objects could traumatize my nose so much..” She said with a jarred laugh. 

“I think the smaller turkey tried to crawl further inside the bigger turkey.” Jax nasally added, causing Ribbit to chuckle as she leaned against his shoulder. 

Conversation broke out amongst the group, with them separating into smaller groups as they continued with their normal day-to-day life in this whimsical prison. 

A loud, high pitched grunt silenced the crowd. A pile of red ribbons and a comedic mask lay on the ground. The mysterious figure rose up from the ground, trying to catch their balance. Their unstable ribbons twisted and gave up, hitting their face right against the ground.

Gangle opened her eyes. She felt something lying on her cheek. The light hitting her eyes, she once again tried to adjust herself with her new, thin legs. She looked down to the view of shattered glass(?) scattered across the ground. Wiping her cheek to discover what was irritating it, she saw a wide, blue tear against it. She looked up to see a group of wacky individuals spectating her arrival. 

“Seriously Caine, another adventure? You’ve burnt my senses enough today.” The frog croaked. An abnormal silhouette appeared in the horizon, but in a split second dashed right into Gangles face. A pair of dentures and heterochromic eyes startled her, causing her to fall back against her twisted legs.

 “MY MY! It looks like a new character has arrived to our digital realm!” He joyfully announced, backing up a bit to get a better look of her.

 Since when were VR’S multiplayer? That’s interesting.

 Quickly, the ribbon noticed the absence of weight on her face or hands. Where did that VR set go? She quickly grasped for the Virtual Reality set, wanting to shut it off. This was giving her a very bad feeling. Something felt.. off about this place. 

“YOU!” Gangle whimpered at the sudden sound, “Do you like adventure? Activity? Wonder? Danger? Horror? Pain? Suffering? Agony? Death? Disease? Death? Angel Food Cake?” The pop-able creature reached its teeth to digest the cake, but the teeth slashed his arm at the bubble, popping them before they could reach the cake. 

Gangle was frightened at the very early violence. To be honest, she had whimpered and jumped at everything that’s happened so far. She quickly figured out that she was no longer wearing that set, in fact, she wasn’t even in the real world anymore. She was lost, what the [&$*!]? 

“What.. the h[!#&*] is happening?” She heard a drum banging come from her mouth replacing her profanity.

 “Woah woah! We don’t allow those nasty words around here! The Amazing Digital Circus is a safe space for ALL human race!”

 What did that frog call him? Caine?

 Caine adjusted his bowtie as he summoned a cane, and jumped high up in the air. “So, ribbons, what’s your name?” Gangle looked up at Caine as she searched for the answer. 

Crap, what’s my name? How does somebody forget their name!?

 She started crying at the thought of her forgetting her past self.

 “Oh, don’t worry, it’ll all be okay. None of us remembered our names when we arrived. You’ll just have to create a new one! You don’t need to cry.” 

The ragdoll approached Gangle in a calming manor. She cleared her throat, “Caine, a little help here?” The doll nudged. 

“Oh, uhm.. What do you choose your new one to be?” He asked.

 The rabbit sighed, “If you don’t pick quickly, I’m gonna have to pick one for you, short stack.” He winked. 

“Uhm, yeah.. sure. You can pick one I guess…” Despite his snarky comment, he seemed friendly based off his appearance, so Gangle trusted him with the job. Or maybe she has just completely stopped giving a s[*#!] after all of this shenanigans.

 The rabbit was caught off guard by the response to his obvious sarcasm, but he continued through anyways. 

“How about.. Gangle?”

 “Uh, yeah. Sure.” She rubbed her head, practicing to walk with her shred of legs. 

“Alright, awesome!” The Ragdoll rated. She introduced each member, pointing at them and labeling their name. “Thats Caine, Kaufmo, Kinger, Ribbit, Jax, and I’m Ragatha! You just missed our adventure of the day, but you’ll be get to join us tomorrow. How about I show you around, sound good?” Gangle was confused. Why would she stay her till tomorrow? And why would she want a tour?

 ”Why not just, like.. leave?” She questioned, Ragatha becoming unsteady. “Well, that's the thing.. you reall-“ 

“You can’t!” Ribbit interrupted to Ragatha’s displeasure. “We’ve been stuck here for years kid, you’ll have to get used to it.” Jax added in. Ragatha gave a worried look, meanwhile Kaufmo smiled at the twos bluntness. 

“Ragatha!” Kinger screamed, “Have you seen my insect collection? Ever since those pesky gloinks ruined my impenetrable fortress, I can’t seem to find them!” Gangle exchanged a look with the chest piece. 

“If it was impenetrable, how’d somebody break it?” A moment of silence followed that statement, as Kinger blinked unevenly at her. Then he released a blood curdling scream. 

“OH! Sorry hun, you startled me. It’s.. Mangle, right?” Gangle uncovered her ears, confused as h[&!#]. “I’m actually Gangle.” “Ooh! Dangle, got it.” Ragatha’s face dropped as the trio of pranksters laughed.

Ragatha, Gangle, and Kinger walked down a hall of doors with profiles hanging on them. About two hours have passed since Gangle arrived, and Ragatha wanted to tour her. She observed that some faces had red X’s crossed over them. Curious, she asked why.

 “Oh, well, you see..” The Ragdoll seemed sensitive about the topic. “Sometimes, when somebody goes a bit, heh, crazy..” She reached for the right words so she wouldn’t scare Gangle, “They might abstract.”

 “What’s that?” Wasn’t it obvious that Gangle wouldn’t know what that is?

 “Well, they turn into this big, glitchy, deformed monster with a whole bunch of colorful eyes scattered all around its body. They have a broken mind, they’ve gone so insane about thought of leaving that it just.. breaks. Caine usually takes their suffered minds down to the cellar, where they just stand in darkness for eternity.” She paused for a moment as the trio stopped to show Gangle her new room. “Sometimes.. I wonder what it feels like. Does it feel calming? Is it this never ending pain? Is it perhaps the way to lea-“ she caught herself rambling, potentially frightening Gangle.

 “Well, thats not something we have to worry about today! Heh heh..”

 Gangle WAS frightened. 

“I just want to rest.. do you think there’s anything to draw with here!” 

“Oh, uhm, maybe! Let’s check in your room!” Ragatha tried to lighten the mood, twisting the doorknob. The room was uneasily dark. There was a bed in the far corner, consumed by darkness. Gangle went up to the only light source, a vanity with LED’S. On it there was a drawing pad with a cartoonish pencil.

 “This will do, I guess. Thanks Ragatha, I think I’m going to just sit around for the rest of the day.” 

“No problem!” Ragatha and Kinger head to the door to exit, but Gangle stopped them.

 “W-wait! Perhaps you know another place I can hang out at? I don’t think this room is the best for drawing..”

 “Of course! I know an area nobody ever uses, you can be alone there if you want.”

 Ragatha took her to a small spot next to a large blue cube. Looking past the corner of the square, she could see couches where the rest of the crew was hanging. She leaned against the cube, drawing some of her favorite anime characters for the rest of the day.  ———————————————————————————————————
