I have so many mixed feelings about Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans.
It started off great but then the ending.... Iām so confused on how to feel about this, so much character development gone...
The Ruddiger Children
Here they are! The Ruddiger children. We have the triplets Janner, Kalmar and Leeli along with their baby sister Nia!
Thank you @onirealm for this collab! Youāre the best! Merci Mon Amie!
First:
Here we have Janner Ruddiger. The eldest of the triplets. Heās the responsible one and always takes his position as the older brother seriously. Like his father he has a fascination for all things alchemic. He wears Varianās old goggles. A wonderful and protective brother whoās all about the smarts.
Second:
Next is Kalmar Ruddiger. Heās the second eldest triplet. Born with Symbrachydactyly (a condition of the bones in your hands not forming properly) he doesnāt let his missing limb affect him either way. Heās very much like Soleil and is a young sorcerer in training. He uses magic as a prosthetic to help him in his everyday activities. Heās a bit of a troublemaker and a big foodie.
Third:
Then thereās Leeli Ruddiger. Sheās the youngest triplet and very much in love with alchemy. She loves to spend time with her siblings as well as discover new and amazing ways to use alchemy to benefit the environment. She wants to prove that even girls can be great alchemists.
Fourth:
And last is Nia. Sheās the youngest and latest addition to the family. Sheās a very happy go lucky baby and loves all her siblings. Varian is super doting on her and practically looses it if anything happens to her (he loves all his kids but Nia is a special case). She too has inherited her mothers magical talents but has yet to discover them.
Varian & Soleil Ruddiger ā¤ļø
After years of travelling the 7 Kingdoms and parting ways with close friends and new family members, it was high time Varian decided to pop the question. Obviously Soleil wasnāt going to let that chance go and immediately began prepping for the wedding š
Now that theyāve settled together in pure happiness provided with many āhappy accidentsā (I donāt mean the children) Varian has devoted his time and energy to make Corona safe and environmentally sufficient along with his wife Soleil who despite being a Master Sorceress, uses her gift to bring more awareness of the Magic of Mother Nature to the kingdom and teach the importance of life.
Both very important lessons they instilled in their children.
(Just thought Iād do a separate segment with these cuties)
Once again, Merci @onirealm for doing this collab with me!
The Rudiger Family
At long last! Here they are! Varian and Soleil Rudiger with their 4 children Janner, Kalmar, Leeli and Baby Nia!
Another awesome collab with the yet again amazingly talented @onirealm
She drew Varian and the goggles on the children whereas I drew Soleil and the children!
Iām so happy how this turned out!!! šš

Hereās my OC Soleil and her looks throughout the seasons. I had a lot of fun designing her outfits! Theyāre just so cute!
(From left to right: Season 01, Season 02, Island arc and Season 03)
Hope you guys like her!
I DONāT KNOW WHO TO SHIP ANYMORE!!! IāM THIS CLOSE TO JUMPING OVERBOARD AND POSSIBLY LAND ON ANOTHER SHIP!!!
Why did I fully have to look at this for half an hour to work out what the fuck was going on
only real math dumbasses will understand this right away and thatās me babey
Iām fucking screaming
This happened to a kid at work. He sat there for a second, sighed and whispered ādamnā
Is this new math? Iām so confused
This is why we have ānew mathā aka cc. So kids donāt grow up getting stuck when thereās an equation they have difficulty with and they have strategies to help them mentally compute. I once saw a student do an entire page of subtracting from teens like this (I was not the teacher) and itās honestly sad when parents āteachā their child the standard algorithm before they have a solid conceptual understanding of subtraction because the standard algorithm doesnāt always help!
I stan for common core math and the standards for mathematical practice. So sue me.
im just curious.. how would this problem be solved with ānew mathā ?Ā what is the process like?
One way itās solved with ā"new mathāā is that kds at a young age are being taught their ādoublesā so they should have memorized what 1+1, 2+2, 3+3, etc. all the way up to 10+10 is. That alone should be enough for them to know that 18-9=9 because part of knowing your doubles is also knowing that taking one away from the sum leaves you with the same number.
The OTHER method is basically like distribution. Consider that 18-9 can be shifted into an easier problem by just using blocking.
18-10 is an easier problem, right? the answer is clearly 8. but 10 is taking one too many away from 18, so you need to put one back. 18-9 is then 9.
wow thats definitely different from how i learned it growing up.. the other method is kinda similar to how i learned it but the interpretation is different
cause the way i learned it, once you do a problem where a digit goes 8-9 then you reset to 10 when you hit 0 then you subtract further
so 8-9 becomes 8-8 = 0 then that becomes 10 then you subtract another which becomes 10 - 1 = 9
so for lets say 17 - 9
you start from the right, you get 7 - 9 which becomes 7 - 7 = 0 then you subtract 2 more from 10 to get 8 then since youāve regrouped previously, you remove 1 from the next so yeah you end up with 0 and an 8
They just forced us to memorize addition, subtraction, and multiplication tables out to 12x12
Which is much faster for those who it works for, but it really really didnāt work for everyone, which is why they even came up with new math strategies.
This is literally every kids math nightmare where Iām from! Good lord! The workings were always like this but either way it still made it work! Ugh... math shivers.... š

its obvious you trace your poses anyone whoās been drawing for any lengthy amount of time can spot it in a heartbeat
I use a lot of references from pictures in the net and Iāve mentioned it several times. Sometimes I simply like a particular pose so much and I donāt want to change it, so I just adapt it to the proportions in my style. Iām not the first artist who does that and certainly I wonāt be the last.
Iām sorry to barge in on your post here, Len, but this pisses me off because that anon has no fucking idea what theyāre talking about and itās very, very obvious. Theyāre just wanting to hate on you behind a pair of sunglasses because they donāt have enough conviction behind what theyāre saying to actually put their name on it.
Such bravery, anon! You are an admirable cookie.
The fluidity in Lenās work alone should tell you that she isnāt tracing shit. When an artist depends on tracing for their posing their work always comes out looking stilted and stiff, and Lenās work looks nothing like that.Ā
And I have been drawing for a ālengthy amount of timeā. I started drawing when I was three but seriously started studying it on my own when I was 12. Iām 34 now. Thatās 22 years that Iāve been drawing seriously, and four years of that was in art school to earn a degree in illustration. And do you know what one of the primary things was that they taught us how to do in art school?
Use references.
For the first full year of Illustration classes we had to turn in process binders with every assignment, and a section of that binder was our reference sheets of all the things we used for reference within our piece. Objects, poses, clothing, fabric patterns, everything. We had specific assignments solely for the purpose of teaching us how to find and properly use reference. Itās a critical tool.
Referencing a pose is different than tracing it, just as eyeball copying something when youāre 14 is different than tracing it. One takes effort and develops an artistās skills, the other turns into a crutch. I use reference for things in my own work all the time; I have a phone tripod mounted to the side of a shelving unit in my studio and use it to shoot photos of myself in different poses with whatever props I need all the time (I have a whole collection of random objects for this purpose!), and then I use that photo in my work. Thatās a perfectly legitimate practice and damn near every professional artist out there does it. Norman Rockwell did it all the time by setting up models in the exact scene he wanted to illustrate and shooting photos of those models.
You can also reference poses or even trace your own reference pictures (meaning reference that you shot for yourself so you own the image) all you want but if you donāt understand whatās going on underneath the skin, that will show in the art. Len has obviously done a good amount of independent study into anatomy and muscle structure, and itās obvious in the same way itās obvious that she doesnāt directly trace reference poses. One of the first things I ever said to her was a compliment on her subtle anatomy knowledge, because the subtle stuff is a lot harder to get right than the major stuff.
And thatās my long winded way of saying āshut up and go hide behind your sunglasses elsewhereā.
Thank you so much for this, Kris. Thereās noting much else I can add aside what itās said in all the posts related to this thread. Even if an artist starts a piece copying or tracing a particular pose from a picture, thereās also process to adapt it to itās own style/proportions. Thatās what is called art process.
@lenbarboza Let me share you something i learnt from my art teacher and heās an artist for Disney! He shared to me a quote by film director Jim Jarmusch and I honestly follow this to a point. Believe me it has helped me in so many ways and it doesnāt sound wrong:
āNothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And donāt bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: āItās not where you take things from - itās where you take them to."
Brock is one of the few and perfect examples of an actual gentlemen like yeah heād hit on literally every girl heād meet but would also only shower them with affection and compliments. He never falls into the tired ātoken pervert/borderline sexual assaulterā anime trope and despite being hella flirty, treats the women heās interested with nothing but respect and compassion.
Truly the only straight anime boy ill ever stan
Also when in Sinnoh, there was a young maid who was interested in Brock and did a lot of things to get his attention but since she wasnāt old enough he didnāt even consider trying to flirt with her!!!
Remember that one movie where Brock busted out the most genuinely wholesome one-liner of all time?
As a child I couldnāt stand the flirting but now as a grown woman I can honestly say heās the sweetest guy I know! Heās a family man till the end, a great older brother and one hell of a PokĆ©mon trainer/breeder/doctor! Love this guy!! ā¤ļø
