Applemedia: Dynamics/How They Got Together.
(This got deleted⌠somebody will feel my wrath. TAKE 2! So I posted this on my TikTok and Ao3 so why not post it here. Every Dynamic will get their own chance to shine but starting with Radiostatic just made the most sense since they have history).
While Alastor viewed Vox as someone entertaining, Alastor was everything. He worshipped the ground he walked on which I believe there are multiple reasons for this. One of them could be the fact that Alastor was one of the first people he met in Hell. He got attached instantly because it brought him some sense of comfort to see a familiar face repeatedly. Another reason could be how reserved Alastor is. Not even in an introverted sense, but knowing that someone so closed off is âbreaking down their wallsâ for him makes him feel special. Which ties into the fact that someone as high of a level as Alastor gave him so much attention. And that is a huge thing for it, attention is a love language, it is something that is vital for any kind of relationship to work. It not only fuels his ego but silences the voices that tell him heâs not good enough.
So while Alastor is trying to keep Vox at armâs length and failing because of his attachment to this simpleton, that only fueled Voxâs perception that he is someone special to Alastor. While he wasnât wrong, he didnât see the other signs that itâs not at all what Alastor wanted. An example I can think of that perfectly demonstrates this is touch. Alastor is touch averse while Vincent craves touch. It is something that he does subconsciously and his biggest love language besides words of affirmation and quality time. So when Vox is able to touch Alastor without getting body parts teared to shreds it brought out 2 very different emotions.
Vox views this as confirmation that he is someone above everyone in Alastorâs life while Alastor also sees that but it makes him tug out his hair in frustration at these emotions heâs feeling. But he canât bring himself to cut him off because of said feelings.
So they both had been battling so much up until the point of Voxâs confession and it all just collided. Alastor was equally shocked, happy, and distressed by this action. Shocked because how the absolute hell could someone take everything heâs been doing to Vox and still want to be with him? Happy because of the fact that he actually liked him. And simply because Vox liked him, he liked that he was valued to that degree in someoneâs life and all the ways he could use that to his advantage. But distressed because this changes everything. His view on Vox for one: Alastor wouldâve never admitted out loud how much Vox meant to him so seeing him so freely admit something of that nature made him view him as weak. Vox wasnât wrong, reading between the lines but they needed to stay in between the days, the moment he tried to say it out loud he became a threat to defuse.
Distressed because he actually liked that idea which only made him furious at the fact that this weasel had wiggled his way into his brain to such a degree. He had grown soft and with everything he did to claw himself to the top not only in his human life but in his afterlife he wasnât willing to sacrifice that for anybody. So he degraded him. Now anyone can take it as a rejection but the words ânoâ never left his mouth. And for someone like Alastor who is as blunt as they come, giving a huge exaggerated show while never outright saying the words ânoâ âI reject youâ or anything along those lines, you have to read between the lines. He was rejecting the idea yes, but the words werenât to convey that, it was to squash both their feelings in one go. He didnât want to cut Vox off, he just wanted things to stay the same as theyâve always been while cutting out whatever got in the way of both their goals. Because he canât fathom or get a grasp on the concept of romance outside of a logical regard. He canât understand it.
Vox split. It was written all over his face. It was fucking humiliating. Not only because he had been wrong about all the signs but he had been so vulnerable to him and this entire time he had been looking like a fool. A fool to think that something so unnatural (internalized homophobia) could actually work out. He wanted Alastor to feel every ounce of pain and shame he felt in that moment. And while he couldâve stayed with Alastor to just backstab him later (like weâve seen with Charlie just a bit), it hurt too much. So he left.
When he left it was hard on both of them. Vox because he was self loathing. If he had just kept his mouth shut none of this wouldâve happened. Maybe if he was just as good as Alastor he wouldâve been able to read between the lines and see that they werenât what they thought they were. If he wasnât so fucking emotional he wouldnât have jumped the gun. He was so.. upset. His skin crawled, all the memories it held. The shame, humiliation, loathing, he scratched at his old body day and night until it bled until he couldnât take it anymore. So he got a new one.
Alastor because now his routine was completely fucked up! He had grown accustomed to the picture box. Even things that he thought he hated, he realized he didnât. His obscure rants about whatever interest he had at the moment, his tinkering, the constant need to be around the red head, the soft static he emitted when he was dozing off but tried to stay up for Alastor. The way he would remember little things he said in passing, the over the top gifts, the respect.. oh the respect. Not the admiration, the knowledge that he knew Alastor was above him without Alastor having to work for it. It was just there. He never had to prove himself with Vox, he believed everything the man did out of respect. He was going to kill the man.
Years went by. And unfortunately for Alastor, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

HEAD CANON TIME!! (Before the Split)
⢠Alastor has called vincent an it on more than one occasion. He thought he would hate it but the logical side of his brain loves it. So after a while he just stopped correcting it (he subconsciously goes by he/it)
⢠Vox is the only one whoâs made alastor fall asleep. He was so upset the first time it happened (he was embarrassed)
â˘Alastor realized his feelings for vox when he made him genuinely flustered while completely drunk. Vox doesnât remember it but the red head has nightmares about it.
⢠Another reason why Vox thought alastor felt the same way was because his pupils dilate every time he saw vox. Even thought his face stayed stoic.
⢠You could always tell who chose where to go because they would choose somewhere the other would love. Vox always chose resturants, quiet book shops, or the bar. Al chose aquariums, music scenes, or the bar.
⢠Vox forced alastor to watch a movie once that involved dancing in the rain. The next time it rained to âteasedâ Vox about the scene and made the speakers come to life playing some jazz. They danced until the sun came up
â˘Alastor is the only person who knows Voxâs real name. When they are alone he calls him vincent
⢠They have picked up on each otherâs habits as if it were their own. Vox knows when someone has pissed alastor off just off the way his hands fiddle with his staff. Alastor knows how particular Vox is about his food touching so if he cooks something for them both he is METICULOUS about keeping them spaced out enough when plating.
⢠Even though heâs quiet, he quite enjoys listening to Vincentâs endless rants. Heâs the only one who can get him to genuinely laugh.
â˘Vox secretly researches facts about deers to see if they work on alastor. He's a nerd
⢠Alastor is the only one who knows that vincentâs glass is prescription. if it breaks he can not see.
⢠Both love to be overstimulated or else they get bored pretty easily. So sometimes they would let out the loudest static against one another to chase that feeling. It was amusing (to them).
⢠Alastor has let Vox touch his ears a couple of times (only when heâs overstimulated). Once he feels a purr about to rumble from his chest he cuts it short out of embarrassment
â˘Vox canât cook to save his (after) life. Another way Alastor would trick him into eating would be by cooking for him. Vox loved to watch the process and would feel too guilty about not eating it so he did. It also helps Vox try new things when theyâre presented to him, he will not seek them out on his own
⢠Vox is the one who named Alastorâs âno touchâ days. On those days he would often play with the sleeve of his sweater or fiddle with his hands. It was very hard in the beginning but he got used to it with time. (Al appreciated it)
⢠Vox was very subconscious about eating in front of the deer. Alastor picked up on this and would offer him some of his meal just to feel superior. It was one the ways he tricked him into eating (he was worried).
