Every Janurary, lolitas around the globe start filming and photographing every single their closets...
Call me lazy, but that's just not for me!
What I do like, though, is tracking the cost and usage of my items. Knowing what I do and don't use is of great help when choosing what to buy next without being wasteful, and knowing what I spent a lot on compared to that usage also tells me if it was worth buying (or not.) So that's what this post is!
Keep in mind all prices are in NZD. (1NZD=0.56 USD)
Some have been approximately converted from foreign countries, or I have owned them a lobg time so am approximating.
So, here's my:
MOST EXPENSIVE COORD:
No competition, it's a coord with Angelic Pretty's Charming Cherry JSK!
The KC and Bow came with a set but would be sold separately for around $30. The blouse was $25, the socks $10 and $5, the shoes are ancient but I'd estimate they were $35, the bag was $110, and the necklace $25, with THE JSK being a whopping $200 (ish) secondhand.
TOTAL: 440
My Least Expensive Coord:
Thritfting sure does keep prices down!
The blouse was $4.50 , found NWT in a thrift store, the skirt was $15 from a local auction and included a haori, the shoes were $25 on Aliexpress, and the socks were $12 on Taobao. The KC was the most expensive item at $30!
Total: $86.50
My Most Used Coord:
Not necessarily the whole coord together, as much as the blouse, socks, skirt, and shoes all happen to be my most used items. The bag is also used a lot casually.
I also get a lot of use of of my berets in general, and have just recently added a pink one to my collection!
Everything but the cardigan is a few years old too, so I can't even begin to math the value.
My Most Liked Coord
I thought it would be interesting to add what turned out to be my most liked (lolita) picture on Instagram!
My decora coords in general always do well, so it makes total sense for a coord that's both to take the top spot.
And yet it's also one of my cheaper coords!
The JSK is ancient now, but I believe was around $25 when I bought it used. The blouse was $20, the mesh shirt was a $5 (ish) thrift find, the same $25 shoes, at a rough guesstimate the accessories would add up to around $50, the most expensive item is probably my $45 socks!
Total: 190
But Wait, The Petticoats!
Personally, the sheer amount of use I get out of petticoats means I don't include them in budgeting coords.
Coords, 1,2, & 4 all use a cheap $25 crinoline. Given I have worn it over 20 times this year alone, and it's almost 5 years old, I'd say it's basically free!
I also have a Me Likes Tea custom petti for my longer skirts, but I just barely ever wore that this year. But last year, I used it more than 30 times!
I also have an Aurora&Ariel 12M, but it's got so many holes it's basically walking itself out to the bin.
And lastly, I have some cosplay petticoats as used in the 3rd coord. Since they're over 10 years old, they're basically free!
Anyway, I think beyond anything else this just shows how possible it is to coord on a budget!
Let me know if you take up the challenge and analyse your own coords :) #mycoords2024
I actually didn't include the cost of all the pins and keychains and insert when calculating the cost of the second coord. If I did it would probably be *at least* an additional $50

This Squirrel Party OP is one of my least favorite items - as much as I adore this print and series, this item was unfortunately sold to me with many undisclosed damages and the seller was far from nice about it. The lace is also wildly itchy!
But caring less about a piece means I don't mind wearing it in the pouring rain where it will get soaked and possibly even a bit dirty, which happened to this coord.
It's pretty rare for me to wear this much dark colour at once these days lol
The skirt was an impule buy and the Little Dipper blouse was a thrift store find I don't want to give up on despite not owning any navy so I figured they could go together maybe...
I had intended on a totally different adventure, but ended up derailed in a good way!
The nearly 1.5h drive (each way) meant needing comfy shoes and a smaller petti I was comfortable sitting and driving in, and the weather was a mess so I didn't want to break out anything fancy either, but I think it turned out pretty cute anyway.
Skirt - Bodyline
Blouse - Thrifted
Bag - Lovely Lota w. Miku insert
Cardigan - Little Dipper
Socks, belt, hat - offbrand
Shoes - Asos
Necklace - Etsy (it hides in my hair but it's a Sailor Moon resin pendant)
