The main argument being that we won't get killed in foreign countries. That "coming out" as ace isn't a big deal, because nobody cares.

But I tried to subtly come out to my family and now my mother is insisting that I'm broken and require counseling. Surely, I must be keeping some traumatizing secret from them and that's why I'm ace aro. Can't simply be that that's who I am, it's that I've been traumatized, or persuaded by the lies of the world!

It's absolutely unnacceptable that I don't want to be in a relationship - it's impossible.

Worse than that, they think I'm going to ruin my little sister too! They think my mindset is too dangerous to keep around my younger sibling. They want me to limit my contact with her. My sister's been interested in boys since she was 4! I'm not going to pull her into asexuality or aromanticy! We're simply on different paths, I don't understand how they can genuinely believe this.

So, okay. Yeah, we won't get killed in some places for being ace, but we sure as hell understand the isolating feeling of being the "broken" one. The "corrupted" one. That member of the family who just doesn't quite fit right. To be forcefully cast away from the inner circle to the darker part of the family so they can pretend doesn't exist because you don't shine with the same light that they do.
