Once Grace is comfort and settled you can catch him humming sometimes. He’ll even sing songs in class to help the kids remember stuff. (Even though I found out they have photographic memories so he won’t be forgotten and to quote someone on TikTok he will be mourned in 2 planets TVT)

Even though he now know the kids will remember it either way it still reminds him of home and he likes to show them what his students would have learned from.

Cross fandom but imagine Alpha trion from the animated transformers ONE movie showing the kids history with his sand, I’m stealing that idea so Grace can show them “3d slide shows” from memory.

You can’t convince me that Rocky and Adrian never fucked using the human thinking machine voice. I whole heart believe that Adrian would have liked the accent. (They have enough pebble proofing that it’s not a problem. The kids have their own machine anyways)

The pebbles sneak the computer at night to learn more human phrases to see if there’s any human curses they can say

Grace curls up in his sleep cause he has nightmares of the ship and being captured. He feels survivors guilt because if the crew could only wait a little longer if they had just met Rocky they would have had a chance to return home. He already lost so many at the base what if they could have survived too? Why only him? He can’t go back, especially now, to face their families let alone the fact there’s nothing left for him there.

Adrian meets Grace and immediately starts interrogating him on everything he’ll need for his biodome down to the most minute details.

Adrian tends to lead the pack when it comes to the kids. They respect her confidence and feel safe with her there. They don’t resent Rocky, in fact he’s a good nurturing father just like Adrian, they just like how consistent she was when he was out on the mission.

Adrian gives Grace a similar device to his “thinking machine” so that he can learn about the norms of eridian culture.

Adrian watches Rocky make the kids suits and will cuddle him from behind.

Adrian wakes up later in the day because Rocky wants her to get as much rest as possible after years alone with the pebbles, but she stays up with the kids on bad nights after insisting Rocky rest in time.

Once she knows Grace is safe, she piles the kids on top of him to test his tolerance for inconvenience. Grace doesn’t have a limit with kids he just rolls with it ,although he does get nervous when the full grown eridians start walking over him.

“Please don’t crush my legs.”

“Human grace very large. Legs long. Won’t crush, very smart too messy.” She likes teasing him.

Adrian tends to be more cool headed than Rocky. “That is why I went. I can be lost but Rocky would not live if Adrian lost.” -Rocky probably.

Rocky has a clutch with Adrian and Grace doesn’t see them for a few days until Adrian goes to check in and give Grace updates. The picture she tried to take of Rocky has him looking Rough, on top of the clutch. Adrian gives him a shell fragment to put on his mantle to commemorate him seeing his first newly hatched pebble.

“Oh my goodness, he’s so small he’d only need one popcorn” he whispers picking them up. The newborns don’t move around that much. With the hot summer weather they get a special biodome that looks like a box with a soft bottom. Adrian lays it on top of Grace while she checks in on Rocky and how he’s holding up. Grace just lays there for hours not moving a muscles so he can watch them all wiggle around like baby crabs. He then figures out there’s gloves on the sides so he reaches in and they start hugging his fingers.

While he’s worried rocky will visit less he’s happy to learn that the pebbles just rode on his back into his biodome.

“Is good for development. Good motors!” -Rocky

Grace makes them little baby sized diorama obstacle courses for introducing new textures. Adrian helps to make sure it’s safe but also cause it’s fun.

It’s Grace’s first holiday party on Erid. He’s with rocky and his family and everyone was bundled up but him since he doesn’t get cold as fast as they do. Grace is just sitting on the couch or something when one of the hosts pebbles, a child much younger than any of Rocky’s, approaches him holding something up to him. The babe is well bundled, dressed head to toe in celebratory garb, much like a human baby would wear a starfish onesy with a pointy hat on a snowy day and they’re holding up something. The kids at that age where they know to ask for help when they need it, but they also want to solve problems on their own and be helpful because they don’t realize how little they are. Grace touches his head and realizes he doesn’t have a hat on so he reaches down and picks up the thing the kid was holding. It’s small, has 5 holes and is puffy and a bit pointed. Grace thinks it clicks for him, it’s a hat! So he places it in his head and plays it up as one does for a kid helping them. “Oh my goodness thank you, this is just what I needed” but he’s met with laughter. Because it’s not a hat. It’s a diaper. And the father picks up his pebble takes the short lived hat and a few moments later the baby reappears wearing it making Grace groan and rub his face in embarrassment as laughter fills the room again.

With it being cold out the pebbles want to known how humans stay warm, and there’s a lot of reasons. Even if they’re not hotter than their ideal temperature, Grace is warmer than it is outside but they worry he’s still going to get cold so they look into human solutions from his computer and find that there’s a table with a blanket that humans lay under! If the pebbles weren’t allowed to put hot wires in one of Graces blankets then surely this could be the ticket! The only problem is, they aren’t allowed to staple the space heater upside down under the table since it was a “fire hazard” and “humans don’t like fire on their body” or “that much heat up close and the real tables are designed to heat at a more reasonable temperature” but they do figure out a solution. They take his blanket put it on his coffee table and then a board on top of that. Then they get his kettle and plug it in under the table! Of course Grace tries to remove it by crawling under but they had bet on him falling for the trap and all huddle under the table at his sides, as he should be surrounded when sleeping, so they can keep him safe and warm.

The pebbles learn his isms, like the sounds we make to convey “I don’t know” “mkay” “m m” “mhm”

Grace makes a xylophone to try and speak the language better. He get pretty far in learning the curse words.

Rocky likes making Grace do puppet shows, especially with the kids there. He thinks it’s cute.

The pebbles know just where to sit to be directly on graces bladder.

The pebbles will fight over whose turn it is to wake up Grace or watch him sleep.

Rocky had to promoise not to make a platform in the house to watch Grace sleep. But he didn’t promise not to make a hollow in the outer wall from which to watch him sleep.

Rocky cheats at cards so Grace makes him use a different deck. (He also cheats at cards)

The old men play chess. Rocky could remember where the pieces from his side were moved to but Grace kept trying to cheat so now they play chess so they’re both bad at it.

Grace makes a quip about how the figures rocky made look like wedding ducks (because he makes sure they point together when they get along or the opposite when they’re turned away if they argue) so now the kids have to make one for their mom so they can make the figures kiss (that cut human tap like the movies) but now they each want one for themselves.

The kids learn how to make them since their dad couldn’t make one for each of them fast enough and they discover the joy of action figures. The students begin trades amongst themselves.

“No I will not kiss the homework stop that” -grace when they kids get ahold of an action figure of him, probably.

Grace doesn’t like that this version if action figures isn’t muscular (like his where as a kid) but finds out that’s why the kids make him blocky and big, because they like him and they think he’s strong!

Rocky will never ever turn off the wave pool. It reminds him too much of Grace and the sound is a great comfort when he misses him.

The kids make sand angels (or sand dollars)

Through Hyjinx and because I said so, Grace finds a way to extract sugar from alien plant life and shows the kids cotton candy.

They try to give him asbestos in exchange and didn’t expect him to be so scared.

Grace’s next attempt at candy was rock candy which went much smoother. But they didn’t like the sound of him crunching it

Once he figures out gelatin (from the me-at) he tries making soft rocks and the kids feel like this would make a great grace action figure! Half eridian as shell and squishy human insides. Grace does not like the realistic sounds of him being crushed by other action figures. Even if the kids are wearing gloves.

The kids think they can make him armor so he’d be stronger. Sugar doesn’t make as good armor for a human as it does for candy.
