Painting is not something that I’m very good at- the extent of my skill is that I can pick up a brush and put it to paper or canvas. Color theory isn’t something I’m very familiar with, either, and this is one of the few times since high school that I’ve painted in something other than greyscale.

That being said, this year I’ve decided to point out something that I like in each piece I make, even if not particularly proud of the piece itself. In this painting, I really like the texture of both the leaves in the background of the painting and the bark on the trees/log throughout the painting.

The ghost was based off of a smudge from the inside of my car windshield in August of this year. I sent that specific photo to a couple of my friends (and to my partner).

The slug was based off of a lip gloss smudge I saw on my lip gloss tube when I took it out of my pocket and left it on the counter to dry.
