You were always on the right.

I was left on the couch because you needed your right hand for the remote and snacks. I was left in the car, because you hated driving and would much rather control music. I was left in bed, because you slept on the right and cuddling next to you beat fighting for a spot. I was left on the hood of my car when we watched the stars at midnight, because you would point out constellations to me and make up stories about how they came to be. I was always left.

But in the end, i was left… on the couch, in the car, in bed, on the hood and everywhere else.

I was left all alone.

About 150 male students, ages 11 to 13, signed up for the Breakfast with Dads event, which was held on Dec.14, 2017, but Kristina Dove, the senior partner relations manager at Big Thought, a youth development nonprofit, wasn’t sure if every student would have a father present during the program.

She immediately jumped into action, using social media to call for volunteers for the event.  

And on the day of the program, event organizers were overcome with emotion when 600 men showed up to support their students.
