Professor McGonagall says her name is Minerva, but it wasnât always, and she too is trans like Hermione, and sheâs so sorry; Hogwartsâ system isnât perfect and they never meant to forcefully out her to her parents, but Hermione is also a witch just like Minerva, and Minerva can erase her parentsâ memories and they can start over without her parentsâ remembering any of this business about Hermioneâs true gender if sheâs not ready yet. But it helps to know sheâs not alone. Hermione works through her upset. She squares her shoulders. Sheâs ready.
Hermione Granger is 18, and sheâs letting Ron down gently and admitting out loud for the first time that sheâs aromantic. And sheâs telling her friends for the first time that sheâs trans. And Merlin, does she feel free.
Hermione Granger is 25 and the Ministryâs biggest thorn with all her activist campaigns. Sheâs got big plans and the drive to go through with them.

And when that little babe yawns and their hair goes from brown to Tonksâ pink shade, the whole world melts away, and Tonks knows true happiness.

Draco Malfoy is 15, and se knows seâs not allowed to talk about how se really feels. Thatâs not what Malfoyâs do. But Slytherin is full of secrets, and not all secrets are meant to be kept. In the darkest hour of night, on the 31st of the month, Slytherins solemnly gather in the common room and whisper out their secrets. This is not something that is ever spoken of, and one must never use information shared during this time against each other. So, in hushed tones, with hir eyes closed, every other month, Draco gets to admit seâs bigender.
Draco Malfoy is 24, and although Astoria knows hir secret and se knows hers, they are still pretending because itâs the easier thing to do.
Draco Malfoy is 39, and hir wife has died. Se feels empty and numb. Se goes through the motions for Scorpius. Se grieves.

Itâs 2018, and itâs Britainâs magical communityâs third year recognizing and celebrating Trans Day of Visibility. And itâs absolutely beautiful.
