When you awoke from your sleep, it was like you were completely lost. Your body felt completely drained despite how you slept like a log, and you couldn’t tell what time it was.
You sat up slowly, your whole body felt too heavy to drag around. Despite the low ache, you immediately noticed that the faint throbbing in your wrists had completely disappeared. Testing them out proved that they were both completely painless. Drinking his blood had worked wonders on whatever injury he’d given you.
Rising from the bed, you walked over to a nearby window with the curtains closed, using the dim light peeking through to guide your way towards it. Upon trying to yank the curtains open to look outside, they refused to budge. Manoeuvring your hand around the sill to seek the issue, you find that the curtains have been bolted shut with no proper way to open them.
That made sense, you figured. The occupant of this place was deathly allergic to the sunlight after all.
Through the dim light, you walk over to where you’d left your coat and boots last night, slipping them on easily. Your coat didn’t feel as heavy as it once had with your weapon sitting inside of it, as well as the burden of what you were planning on doing weighing on your shoulders.
Once you freshened yourself up enough, you went over to the door and pushed it open. Proper lighting hit your eyes, sending a slight pang of pain through your head as if you were hungover. Closing the door behind you, you started to wander around the castle, familiarising yourself with the place. Even though it was small in terms of a castle, the place was still huge and likely costed more than the foundation of your whole town.
Eventually you stumbled upon a very familiar hallway, the one Viktor had led you through last night. The place still smelt bad, but you couldn’t really have expected that to change overnight.
You walked over to a large, familiar door— the door leading to the library. You slowly pushed it open, loud creaking resounding throughout the room. You were hoping that Viktor was in there, since you wanted to discuss more with him about last night, about everything.
To your delight, he was seated in the same red armchair he sat in the night before. His face visibly lit up upon sensing your presence in the room.
“Good afternoon,” he greeted you, closing the book he was reading and placing it on the coffee table in front of him. “I trust that you slept well?”
You nodded your head at him, walking over to the armchair opposite him and sitting in it.
“What time is it?” you asked, weariness evident in your voice despite not having done any strenuous tasks.
“A little after three in the afternoon,” he replied simply. He reached over to grab a wine glass filled with a deep red liquid, and you stared at it for way longer than you should’ve.
It was almost surprising to you just how long you’d slept for. But you supposed it made sense, considering the events of last night. Which reminded you, you have things you needed to talk to him about.
“Um… about last night…” you trailed off. Your hands fidgeted together in your lap as you forced yourself to keep eye-contact with him. “I’m sorry about everything. Trying to kill you, insulting vampires, you know…”
The guilt had subtly been eating at you from the minute you’d fully processed your situation. Though judging from his nonchalant expression, he didn’t seem to mind it too much.
“That’s alright. You wouldn’t be the first person to do either of those things.” He teared his gaze away from your body, a disinterested look in his eyes.
For some reason, it surprised you that someone had attempted to kill him before you, even though it shouldn’t be. You swallowed down any questions you had about the past, your gaze flicking to anything in the room to start a new and hopefully less awkward conversation about.
Your eyes finally landed on his cane that was leaning against the side of his armchair.
“Your cane…” you began, without even having a proper statement about it in mind.
His gaze landed back on you. “What about it?” he asked, defensively as if you were about to insult him.
You racked around in your brain for something you could continue with, and you settled for the first thing you could come up with.
“Why do you use it? Doesn’t being a vampire make you super strong and healthy?”
Viktor sighed, rubbing his temples with a hand. That reaction almost made you mentally kick yourself for asking something that he considered to be rude.
“Anything you have from before you turned will still remain. Unless it’s an illness or any sort,” he explained, trying to push past this topic as soon as possible.
“You weren’t born a vampire?”
His eyes narrowed at you, as if it should’ve been the most obvious thing in the world. “No? Not many vampires are born as one nowadays.”
“How come?”
“You need two pure-blood vampires to have a child born as one.”
You hummed in response, not feeling particularly interested in a biology lesson on how that was supposed to work.
The two of you are enveloped in an uncomfortable silence, becoming more awkward by the second.
That is until your stomach growled loudly amidst the piercing silence. You hadn’t even realised that you hadn’t eaten for almost an entire day until then. Your face flushed in embarrassment as Viktor looked at you.
“Are you hungry?” he asked, though he slightly cringed at how dumb of a question that was. Of course you were hungry.
He slowly rose from the chair, grabbing his cane to steady himself.
“I’ll show you to the kitchen,” he said, already beginning to walk off before you could even respond, leaving you only one option— follow him.
Viktor led you down the grand staircase and through one of the dark hallways beside the stairs. At the very end of that hallway was a doorway that led into a large kitchen. Judging by the reluctant flicker of the lights when he tried to turn them on, this room didn’t seem to get used often, or even at all.
He searched all of the cabinets in the kitchen, in search of something for you to eat, but to no luck. The only thing he managed to find was an extremely mouldy loaf of bread that looked like it’d kill you if you swallowed even a nibble of it. He swiftly threw it out with a light pink blush coating his pale face.
Even when he turned back to face you, he still looked embarrassed.
“My apologies… I have no need for human food, so I don’t have anything…”
That made enough sense to you, but he still clearly felt guilty about it.
“That’s… fine,” you replied, hesitantly.
Viktor leaned against the marble kitchen island, his free hand rubbing his temples again.
“I think you should go back home. The snow should be mostly cleared by now.”
You found yourself agreeing with him, even if it seemed like he was only trying to get you to leave because he was embarrassed. He switched off the kitchen lights and led you down the dark hallway once again. This time stopping with you at the large wooden doors.
“Do you know how to get back?” he asked, clearly worried about you.
“Of course I do. I know this area better than anyone.” You rolled your eyes, barely having any time to register just how weird and stalker-ish your response sounded as a strong wind made you shiver. He’d already opened one of the doors.
You took this as that he was just that eager to see you go, to let him bask in his solitude once again until another traveller asked to take refuge at his place for a night. Whether to kill him or not was an entirely different story.
You muttered out a goodbye as you clutched your coat closer to your body to combat the cold outside. But his voice calling out to you made you turn around before you could get too far.
“Feel free to come back and visit whenever you please.” His expression is unreadable from the distance between the two of you.
In response, you only nodded before waving your hand at him, he did the same before you turned around and began the journey home.
There was a lot you had to think about.
Much to your surprise, you found yourself drawn to Viktor.
Over the next couple of weeks, you became a frequent visitor of his castle. His company was something that you grew to find enjoyable, and befriending him made you feel a little less lost in life with your new-found freedom from seeking revenge.
You also found that Viktor thoroughly enjoyed your company too, even if you were both just reading books together in his library without conversation. He seemed to open up a lot more, and the two of you could now have lengthy conversations without anything awkward occurring between you. Sometimes he even cracked a few jokes (despite most of them not landing).
On one particular afternoon, you walked the same path to get to his home. This time without the snow giving you any difficulty as the seasons transitioned from winter to spring.
By now, you were so familiar with the place that you didn’t even need to knock on the doors to alert Viktor of your presence. He was completely fine with you just entering his home without permission, so that’s what you did. Pushing the large doors open without a struggle and with no one there to greet you.
However, when you entered, something immediately felt off. Nothing inside was different, apart from the lights in every room being off. But it was still the middle of the day, so perhaps Viktor was just having an afternoon nap. Though the prospect of that still felt weird to you, considering that he was always awake whenever you visited no matter the time of day.
You climbed the grand staircase and quickly made your way over to the library. Nine times out of them he’d be in there engrossed in a new book in his armchair beside the fireplace. But he was nowhere to be found.
The mildly-off feeling you felt upon entering grew and festered in your stomach as you checked other rooms you’d occasionally find him in whenever he wasn’t reading in the library. The kitchen, he had recently developed an affinity for human desserts. The garden conservatory, he’d explained that gardening was a hobby of his once. The sitting room downstairs, sometimes he’d spice things up and read in there. But he wasn’t in any of those rooms.
You began to grow increasingly worried as you decided on checking every room in the castle. You checked every room on the first floor, to no avail. And by the time you had climbed the stairs again to check the second floor, your brain was already going haywire with things that could’ve happened to him during your absence. Had another vampire hunter shown up and managed to actually kill him? Did he run away and kill himself? Your mind raced with the worst possible scenarios.
Even though you had checked almost every room on the second floor, he was still nowhere to be found. You almost stumbled on the carpet as you walked to the final room you hadn’t checked yet, a door at the very end of the corridor. Your hand shook as you reached for the doorknob, praying that he would be in there.
However when you tried to turn the knob, it refused to budge, even after a few attempts. Pressing your ear against the door, you could hear faint laboured breathing from inside the room. Your heart rate spiked. Was he seriously injured? Why would he lock himself in a room then?
“Viktor?” you called, rapping your knuckles against the door. “Are you alright? Why did you lock the door?”
You heard him pause, before speaking with an awfully weak voice. “I-I’m perfectly fine, do not worry.”
With the way he sounded, you couldn’t believe him for even a second.
“I don’t believe you,” you said, trying to turn the doorknob again, hoping that he’d get the message. “Open the door, you’re worrying me.”
“I-I cannot…” his voice sounded strained as he spoke.
“Why not?”
“Because… I don’t want to hurt you…”
You froze for a moment, considering his words. You didn’t actually think that he was capable of hurting you since you made up after that night. But it was also confusing, what could possibly be wrong with him that he might even consider it? Even though you didn’t really want to find out, your only friend’s life could possibly be on the line here.
“Viktor, unlock this door right now,” you demanded. “Otherwise I’ll break it down if I have to.”
He didn’t respond to you or unlock the door. So you did the very thing you warned him about; you started breaking down his door.
You started kicking the door, and it opened quicker than expected— a perk of old unmaintained doors, you supposed.
Upon entering the room, you found Viktor sitting on the floor beside a large bed, clutching his shoulder with a pained look on his face. His gaze weakly met yours, and he winced, squeezing his shoulder tightly.
“Go away…” he pleaded weakly, trying to create more distance between the two of you and failing.
You cautiously stepped closer, accidentally stepping in a puddle of red liquid with a shattered glass around it.
“It’s animal blood…” Viktor said before you could even ask.
That was when things clicked into place.
Had he been drinking animal blood this whole time? Vampires were only meant to drink human blood, as animal blood was barely half as nutritious compared to human blood. Had you prevented him from getting his fix on the night you tried to kill him? And that’s why his wound on his shoulder was still causing him pain? Because he was malnourished and it couldn’t heal properly?
Upon the realisation, you froze in place in shock, the animal blood began to seep into your shoes. Chills ran up your spine as you stared at Viktor. He could definitely sense your fear.
He winced again, trying to sit up without struggling. “That’s why I told you to go away…” he groaned, staring back at you.
You wanted to run as far away as possible from him, from this place entirely. But your feet wouldn’t bring themselves to move. Even though the situation was something you feared, you couldn’t bring yourself to leave Viktor there to either starve to death or die from his wound. Just the thought of him dying made your heart ache in your chest.
You shakily inhaled, slowly reaching up to unbutton the top of your shirt, only enough for a clearer view of your neck and collarbone.
“Drink from me,” you tell him with shaky resolve.
Viktor’s eyes widened, staring at you with disbelief and uncertainty. “I couldn’t…”
“You’ll die.”
“I might lose control and hurt you. I-I don’t want to frighten or hurt you…”
“It’ll be okay.” Even though that was what you told him, you weren’t exactly sure of it yourself.
You physically willed yourself to move closer to him, a voice in the back of your mind screamed at you not to. Viktor watched you, conflicting swimming in his eyes as you sat down next to him, pulling the collar of your shirt open a little more.
Viktor closed in on himself, trying to be as small as possible with his knees pressed against his chest. He stared at you, his lips trembled while he tried to come up with a way to decline your offer.
But he couldn’t. His hunger was too overwhelming on his weakened body. Despite how much he wanted to not feed from you, a part of him couldn’t help but crave it, your blood, you.
He took a deep breath, before finally deciding to give in to his hunger and accept your offer. Viktor inched closer, moving so that your bodies were touching. He placed a hand on your shoulder, leaned in closer to your neck, and took a hesitant bite through your skin.
Pain shot through your body in an instant. You cried out, your hands gripped onto his clothing and hair as he eagerly lapped up your blood.
The pain didn’t fade as the minutes ticked by. If anything, it grew worse with every second that he was latched onto your neck. It sent you into a panic, as your hands tried to pull him off. Viktor groaned as you tried to pry him off. He pushed you closer to the bed, trapping you between it and his body with no escape as long as he was feeding.
“Viktor, stop…” you pleaded, your voice wavering as your body began to grow weaker from the amount of blood you’d lost. However he didn’t listen, or seem to hear you as he continued drinking from your neck.
“Viktor!” you cried, trying your absolute best to get his attention.
That time, it worked. He pulled himself away from your neck quickly, staring straight at your tear-ridden face as blood dripped down from his chin, onto your clothes and the wooden floor.
Viktor’s eyes widened upon realising what he had done, guilt instantly eating his insides. His hands shook as he cupped your face, brushing away your tears with his thumbs.
“I’m so sorry…” he whispered breathlessly. “I-I lost control. I didn't mean to hurt you…”
One of his hands reached down to your neck and wiped the blood escaping from the punctures on your neck.
“Let me help you clean up,” he said, leaving you no room to respond as he pulled away from you and grabbed his cane, using it to help him stand. He left the room and quickly returned with a dampened washcloth and some bandages.
Viktor sat back down in front of you, leaning his cane against the bed he moved closer, this time not caging you as he cleaned your neck with the washcloth from the blood that trickled down from it. He made you press the cloth onto your neck while he prepared the bandages.
He worked on your injury in silence, only the occasional sniffle from you breaking it. Eventually he finished wrapping the bandages around your neck, the white fabric immediately becoming stained with the deep red of your blood.
He placed the washcloth on the floor. His hands move to hold your shaky ones. By now, you had stopped crying, but Viktor knew that you were still upset by what he had done.
His thumbs gently caressed your trembling hands, comforting you without words. You could tell that he genuinely felt horrible about his actions, and he was trying to make it up to you in whatever way he could.
“Are you alright now?” he asked after a period of silence. You nodded your head, suddenly feeling a wave of exhaustion hit your body.
Viktor immediately sensed that you were tired. “You should get some rest.” He pulled his hands back and stood up, expecting you to follow.
You stood up after him, using the bed for support as dizziness made you stumble. Viktor put a hand on your shoulder and helped you to the side of the bed, untucking the bedsheets for you. You wordlessly complied, getting into his bed and laying down as he tucked you in.
When he’d finished, he pulled back for a moment, hesitating. Before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to your forehead.
“Rest well,” he whispered, his hand caressing your face before he pulled away from you completely.
You quickly drifted off to sleep, having no time to properly process what he did. But the one thing that you knew for certain, was that you felt safe and loved in Viktor’s presence.

A storm was quickly approaching, as the sky grew darker for night. You should’ve been at home, huddled by the fire with a warm blanket wrapped around you for warmth. Instead, you were navigating through a forest in ankle-deep snow that was only increasing continuously as you trudged to your destination. Your only protection from the harsh weather being a large brown coat that felt way too heavy.
Despite the horrible conditions, you were actually grateful for them. After all, this was all for your plan that preferably required a snow storm, and one was steadfast approaching.
While you continued your journey, a large building begins to come into view through the abundance of trees. As you got closer, the large building appeared to be a small, abandoned castle that was way too far from the closest town.
Perfect. This was your destination.
You rehearsed your false story of how you ended up here over and over again in your mind while trying to walk quicker (despite the snow). Pushing down any anxieties that made you want to completely forget about your carefully constructed plan and run away back home instead. Because now it was simply too late for you to do any of that. You had to go through with it.
Standing in front of two large wooden doors, you took a deep breath to ease your nerves, before pushing one of the heavy doors open and entering the building.
Majority of the people that lived in the closest towns actually didn’t know this place existed. And the few people that did know stayed as far away from it as possible. You, on the other hand, knew way too much about this building and the individual that occupied it for it to be healthy. A harmful obsession of some sorts, but you’d argue that it’s for a good reason.
For an abandoned building, it had bright lighting that made you wince for a second upon entering, before regaining your composure. Despite the good lighting, it was actually quite cold inside even with the harsh weather of mid-winter. You take in the interior, a large staircase occupied most of the room, with a few doors branching into other rooms on the sides that led down two relatively dark hallways past the grand staircase. It was a pretty nice interior. A real shame that after tonight nobody was going to be there to maintain it.
The sound of echoing footsteps that were accompanied by a repeating thud brought you back to your situation. You looked straight ahead at the top of the staircase, waiting for what was about to come.
A figure shrouded in an indigo blanket emerged from the side, standing at the top of the grand staircase with a cane in hand. Even though you couldn’t see the figure’s face properly, you were almost certain you knew what they looked like.
The man that resided in this abandoned castle—a vampire that has a dedicated following of both lower vampires and humans who were desperate to either study him or kill him.
In your case, you were the latter.
“A visitor?” his voice booms, echoing throughout the room. Hearing him speak made your heart skip a beat, likely from the unfamiliarity of how you’d been expecting him to sound like. An accent that was unfamiliar to you, but almost fitting now that you thought about it.
“What brings you here?” he questioned, gripping the railing whilst slowly descending a few steps down the staircase.
“I…” you trailed off, your anxiety suddenly coming back now that you were about to execute your plan. There was no doubt that he could hear your heartbeat pounding in your chest.
You cleared your throat before speaking again. “I’m lost,” you answered. Your nails dug into the palm of your hand to try and ease yourself, not hard enough to break skin and cause bleeding, as that would be the worst thing to do right in a hungry vampires’ territory.
“You’re lost?” he repeated, sounding almost suspicious of you. Though you could have been overthinking it, given how nervous you felt.
You nodded your head. “A snow storm is approaching. So I came here to seek refuge for tonight.” you feigned a guilty expression, trying to act like you felt bad for intruding.
He remained quiet for a moment, considering your words. It almost felt like an eternity had passed by the time he decided to speak again.
“Very well then.” he turned to start walking back up the stairs. “You must be freezing. Come with me and I’ll light a fire for you,” he added, expecting you to follow him as he started walking off, to which you quickly complied.
You honestly couldn’t believe that he somehow didn’t doubt you already. Though you knew he wasn’t an idiot, so he was most definitely going to interrogate you more about you and your situation.
He led you through a dark hallway. Judging by the mild foul smell infiltrating your nose, none of the decor had likely been cleaned in decades. There were probably hundreds of different spider families residing and thriving in this environment, maybe even some extinct ones too.
You almost crashed into him when he suddenly stopped, before grabbing the handle to a door besides you both and opening it. Like a gentleman, he lets you enter the room first before going in himself.
Immediately you noticed a change within the temperature in this room. A fire has already been lit despite his words earlier, illuminating the room in a soft, orange glow. Large bookshelves filled a majority of the room, with some books scattered around on the floor. This was likely the library of the castle.
He stared at you, waiting for you to sit down next to the fire to warm up. You hesitantly went to sit down in one of the big red armchairs, watching him as he tossed more firewood into the fireplace. Once he was done with that he went to sit down in the identical armchair across from yours.
“My name is Viktor.” he stared at you, his golden eyes piercing and intimidating enough to send shivers down your spine.
“I-I’m (Y/N),” you squeaked out. He could definitely sense how nervous you were.
He straightened up in his seat, his gaze never wavering off of you.
“So, (Y/N). What exactly were you doing in the forest?” he asked, as if you were a criminal he was investigating.
“Oh, you know, winterberries!” you replied, forcing a smile.
“Winterberries?”
“Yes! I wanted to make some desserts that utilise winterberries, so I came looking for some!”
Another suspicious look crossed his face. “Winterberries don’t grow here.” He narrowed his eyes at you, clearly not believing your story.
“Oh…really?” you asked, your voice uncertain. You had made a big mistake, and he definitely didn’t trust you now. At least you were being genuine about not knowing something that apparently seemed like common knowledge to him.
“I was told that they did grow here though…” you lied. Nobody told you anything, you had just assumed that winterberries would grow in a place like this.
Viktor sighed, leaning back in chair and watching the snow fall outside through the window.
“You picked the worst day to get lost in a forest,” he said, turning his head back to you. “Especially with that snow storm you mentioned earlier.”
You awkwardly chuckled at his observation, figuring that since he likely assumed you’re a reckless traveller, you may as well play into it as best as you can.
He sighed again, before standing up from his chair and grabbing his cane.
“You may as well stay the night.” He slowly starts to walk away. “Come. I’ll take you to your room.”
You eagerly stand up from your seat and follow him back into the hallway. Eventually you both came to a stop as he opened another door into a guest room. It was a relatively average sized room with a large, white canopy bed taking up more than half the space. Dark dressers lined up the wall opposite the bed, leaving enough space to walk around in the middle.
“Is it to your liking? Do not hesitate to let me know if there’s anything you need,” Viktor said, leaning against the doorframe.
You turned around to face him, another fake smile plastered onto your face. “It’s perfect, thank you.”
He visibly relaxes at your words, a small smile appearing on his face. “Alright, sleep well then.”
“Goodnight.”
Viktor gets off the doorframe, grabbing the knob to close the door behind him as he leaves. You waited until you couldn’t hear his cane thudding against the floor before relaxing, but not completely.
You took your coat and boots off, placing them beside the bed. You made sure to grab your weapon out from one of the pockets of your coat before setting it down. A wooden stake, designed specifically for killing vampires.
You were going to kill Viktor tonight. To seek revenge, even if it wasn’t him who had wronged you all those years ago.
Untucking the white bedsheets, you slipped under them and laid down on the surprisingly comfortable mattress, slipping your weapon under the pillow. You settled in, wedging your dominant hand underneath your pillow for easy access. Now, all you had to do was play the waiting game.
Despite how cozy the bed was, you refused to even get a wink of sleep. Every creak of the castle or odd sound the wind outside makes sent your heart racing for a moment. Even though your body screamed at you to change positions every once in a while, you refused and remained the same.
It almost felt like an eternity had passed by the time you heard a sound that’s similar to his cane thumping onto the floor as he walked. It puts you on edge, making you take deep breaths to calm down enough so that he wouldn’t immediately notice that you weren’t asleep yet. This time, you really knew it was him with how continuous the thumping was.
And before you knew it, he was standing outside your door.
You heard it slowly squeak open, squeezing your eyes shut in response. He’s trying to keep quiet as he slowly crept to your bedside, his cane barely creating any noise as he carefully moved around.
He stopped when he’s standing right beside you, close to where you’re resting your head. Your grip on the wooden stake tightens when you felt his presence leaning in closer to your face.
You didn’t feel his breath on you at all, until he finally opened his mouth to get ready to bite you. You were about to strike before he could lay a single tooth on your skin, but his voice made you freeze.
“You’re a terrible liar.”
His words made your heart drop and your eyes shoot open. But before he could do anything to you, you pulled your stake out from under the pillow and swung backwards, striking his shoulder.
He yelled in pain, staggering backwards with a hand clasping his injured shoulder, his cane falling to the floor from where it was resting. You threw the thin bed sheets off of your body, standing up with the now-bloodied stake in your trembling hands.
While he’s caught off-guard and in pain, you took the opportunity to charge at him and strike again, adrenaline rushing through your veins. However, he’s a lot more alert than you assumed. Viktor dodged your attack by throwing himself against the wall, the harsh contact with his injury makes him bite back a yelp, as his eyes settled on your figure. Just from his gaze, you could tell that he’s furious with you, and that he won’t hold back.
Before you could even consider attacking him again, he charged at you powerfully. You only narrowly dodged him, but your good-luck streak ends there as your ankle gave way from the sudden and awkward movement you dodged with.
Your knees hit the wooden flooring, and you tried to scramble back up quickly enough. But you were too late.
Viktor’s hand grabbed your hair from the scalp, throwing you onto the floor in front of him, causing you to drop your weapon beside you.
The force of him tossing you onto the floor and the way you landed caused you to become winded. You gasped and coughed for a moment, desperately trying to recollect yourself and catch your breath.
Before you even realise that you had accidentally let go of your weapon, Viktor picked it up, examining it briefly before tossing it to the other side of the room. He then leaned down, pinning both of your wrists down and kneeling on your stomach with his bad leg. His now-red eyes were even more intense compared to just a few hours earlier.
The knee pushing down on your stomach constricted your breathing more, as you gasped and sputtered helplessly. If he didn’t kill you anytime soon, you’d probably end up eventually suffocating to death.
“Th-This—“ you cough “—isn’t fair…”
A confused look crossed his face. Even through his anger, you can tell he wants to know more.
He lessened the pressure on your stomach by lifting his knee. You took the opportunity to curse him out in what’s about to be your dying moments.
“Fuck you…” you spat, gritting your teeth in anger. “Your kind can kill my family, but I can’t kill you?”
Viktor’s confusion turned back into anger at your words, his grip on your wrists tightening painfully.
“My kind?” he spat back at you, distaste clear in his eyes. “You’re blaming me for things others have done?”
You felt a rage inside of you quickly building up, one that had probably been buried deep down for years and years and only now revealing itself.
“Shut up!” you attempted to shout at him, but your voice falters. “I know everything about you, about how they practically worship you!”
Viktor opened his mouth to speak, but you quickly cut him off.
“If your people can kill my parents, then why can’t I kill you?!”
You’re beyond furious, anger probably rivaling his own at this point. The pain in your wrist felt like nothing, so did the tears that fell down your face and landed on the floor. It felt like scorching hot lava is what’s coursing through your veins instead of blood to keep you alive.
He’s silent for a moment, considering your words. He didn’t even look as angry at you anymore.
“What do you get out of this? You’ll be no better than the ones who killed your family,” he asked, bluntly.
“Revenge,” you answered. “Then, I can die happily.”
Viktor looked shocked at your answer, guilty too,
“You’ll kill yourself?”
You nodded your head. The look on his face didn’t go away, making you feel angrier.
You didn’t need his pity.
He sighed, fully taking his knee off your stomach. But he didn’t let your wrists go, as if he was worried you’ll try something.
It took him a while to come up with a response, conflicted looks crossing over his pale face.
Eventually, after much consideration, he took his hands off you too and struggled to get up for a moment before using the bed for support. He grabbed his cane and walked over to where he’d tossed your weapon earlier. Though he didn’t give it back to you.
You sat up, watching his every move. Viktor turned back to look at you.
“You’re still young,” he said, mindlessly fiddling with the stake in his hand, as if it wasn’t a deadly weapon that was now partially stained with his blood.
“Living your whole life out of revenge isn’t worth it.” He slowly walked over to you. His gaze has softened, his eyes returning to the golden colour they were before.
“At some point, you have to move on.”
You wanted to protest at his words, give him your reasons for why you choose to live like this, but he shuts you down immediately by continuing his speech.
“I know it’s not easy,” he said, as if he were reading your mind. “I’ve lived for centuries. I know what you’re feeling.”
You grit your teeth again. “You and I are nothing alike.”
Viktor shook his head. “You and I are more alike than you realise,” he stated simply. “I’ve felt what you’re feeling for many years. The grief, anger, self-hatred.”
“You forget that I am immortal. I’ve lost many people over the years, and I can never just end my suffering.”
Somehow, you felt a pang of guilt. Perhaps you two were really more alike than you realised.
He reached a hand out in front of you. “Your life is finite, you shouldn’t have to live it like this.”
His monologue hits you hard. You gave up at him for a moment, processing everything he just said. It made your heart hurt. Why would he go out of his way to say all that to you, even though you just tried to kill him? It made you want to cry again.
After much thinking, you took his hand and let him help you up from your position on the floor. However, him pulling on your hand caused you to wince as pain shoots up from your wrist.
Viktor noticed it immediately, before you could even consider hiding it from him. A guilty expression crossed his face, knowing that he was the reason for the pain.
He ushered you to sit down on the bed, which you complied without a complaint. He thought for a moment, before remembering that your weapon was still on his person.
Viktor grabbed the wooden stake, holding it in one hand with the other laid palm-up in front of him. He used the stake to cut a line into his palm, biting his bottom lip to prevent any cries of pain from escaping his mouth.
He held his now-injured hand out to you. “Drink my blood,” he orders, as if it were the most normal thing to be drinking. You stared at his hand, a bewildered look on your face.
“My blood will heal your injuries,” he quickly clarifies, to ease your mind.
Somehow, that’s familiar to you. You must’ve read it in a book about vampires somewhere down the years of obsessive research. But you’re too mentally exhausted to dwell on it any further.
Despite how the idea of drinking someone else’s blood disgusted you, you took his cut hand in hours and brought it to your lips, suckling the blood oozing from it at an odd angle. You’re unsure when to stop sucking, feeling more awkward as the minutes pass by.
Eventually, Viktor tugs his hand gently out of your weak grasp. “That should be enough,” he said, examining the cut on his hand. “You should be healed by the time you awake.”
You wipe any excess blood off your face, looking down at your feet to avoid his gaze.
You didn’t know what to say to him. Do you thank him? Apologise for trying to kill him? Do both? You felt conflicted about expressing anything to him.
“…If you want, we can talk once you wake up,” he suggested, likely noticing your discomfort.
You considered his offer, before deciding to nod as a response to him. Though you couldn’t see it, a small smile appeared on his face.
“Alright, rest up then.”
You heard Viktor walk away, closing the door behind him as he leaves your room. It took you a minute before you got up from where you’re sitting, moving to tuck yourself back into the bed, this time without your weapon.
You stared up at the ceiling, quickly drifting off to sleep from how much this took a toll on your body.
You didn’t know what the future held for you now.
But somehow, it felt like you were going to be okay.

It was late at night, far later than Gaming usually finished the day by.
He had run into some issues with his final delivery for the day, making him go constantly back and forth to fix things until everything was correct and he could finally deliver it.
Usually with mishaps like these, Gaming was able to persevere and stay energetic and positive until the end of the day. But with how big today's mishap was, he was completely and utterly exhausted. He couldn't wait to go home and fall asleep next to you.
But seeing you had to unfortunately wait, as he had dance practise right after work. The mistake in the delivery gave him no time to rest between the time he got off work and before he started his dance practise, giving him no time to rest.
As soon as he finished with dance practise, he raced straight to your shared house despite wanting to take it easy.
He finally arrived home quickly and he quietly entered the house in case you were already asleep. He tip-toed to your bedroom, only to see that you were sitting up in bed with the lamp on and reading a book.
You sensed his presence and looked up from your book, giving him a smile before bookmarking your page and putting the book on the nightstand.
Gaming sighed with relief at your smile, walking over to you and immediately flopping onto the bed and partially on top of you. His head rested on your stomach and his arms wrapped around your hips as he melted into your touch.
You ran your fingers through his hair, and he let out another content sigh.
"Long day?" You asked, massaging his scalp. Gaming let out a satisfied groan.
"Yeah..."
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Tomorrow... I'm way too tired right now..."
You chuckled, moving to lay down in bed with him. You turned off the lamp and shifted around to face him. Gaming's grip on you tightened, and he moved closer to you, close enough that there was practically no space between the two of you.
"You're not even gonna get changed?" You questioned.
Gaming didn't respond, and on closer inspection, it turns out he had already fallen asleep. You smiled at his peaceful expression, and you closed your eyes to join him in sleep.

DILUC RAGNVINDR: (1340 words)
•Diluc was turned during a near death experience in Snezhnaya. A passing vampire spotted his body bleeding out on the ground and decided the only way to save him was by turning him.
•Though, Diluc would've rather died on that night.
•After he was turned, and he experienced his first craving for blood, he went on a rampage that he'd quickly come to regret afterwards.
•Out of guilt of realising what he's done, he exiled himself into solitude. Opting to not go back home ever again in case he'd hurt someone in Mondstadt if he did go back. He resided in an abandoned manor that he'd fixed up over a century or two.
•Instead of drinking human blood, he drank animal blood instead. Though he'd never drink enough from them to fatally wound the animal.
•Meaning for a very long time, he'd been suppressing his cravings for human blood.
•And when you came into the picture, it wasn't pretty for him.
•You'd knocked on his door one late night seeking for shelter from a storm that was starting to form. While the logical side of his brain screamed at him to not let you stay, he inevitably let you inside for the night.
•He brewed you a cup of tea, and let you stay in one of the spare rooms. By morning, and after you left, he expected that to be the last time he'd ever see a human for another century or so.
•He was proved wrong when you showed up at his doorstep again late into the afternoon with some food to thank him for letting you stay the night.
•After this, you ended up visiting him more and more. You quickly noticed how he wouldn't answer a lot during the day, but you just assumed he was busy working (in reality, he refused to open the door to not get burned by the sunlight).
•Because of your frequent visits, you ended up befriending Diluc.
•And before he knew it, Diluc was falling completely head over heels for you, to his dismay.
•The thought of loving you terrified him greatly. He was a vampire and you were a human for goodness' sake! It could never work between you two! The thought of losing himself because of you, your scent, and your blood made him so scared. He didn't want to harm you, or worse, he didn't want to accidentally lose control and kill you.
•So, in hopes to drive you away; he decides to reveal himself to you. To reveal the monster he is to you.
A letter from Diluc had you walking to his manor in the middle of a warm spring day, something you wouldn't usually do. You figured that he had a day off from work today and that he wanted to spend it with you. The last part of that thought making your heart throb in your chest.
You soon approached the door to his manor, knocking gently on the door three times. It didn't take long before the dark oak doors opened to let you inside. You entered casually as Diluc held open the door for you, closing and locking it once you had fully entered his estate.
He led you over to the sitting room, placing a pre-made cup of tea in front of you, to which you quickly accepted and drank out of. The two of you conversed together for a little while, with everything being light hearted and fine, as it usually was.
That was until Diluc suddenly questioned you;
"How do you feel about me?"
His question caught you by surprise, your eyes widening and a small blush starting to coat your cheeks. You laugh awkwardly, trying to calm yourself down from how his question startled you.
You open your mouth, planning to say "You're a good friend of mine!" And while that isn't a lie, a friend isn't something only you want to be to him, you want to be something more.
"Please, tell me the truth."
His words catch you off guard for the second time in such a small period. You choke down your words and take a deep breath, before reluctantly saying your true feelings to him.
"I... I'm in love with you, Diluc."
In that moment, the light hearted air in the room had quickly dissipated. With the way Diluc's eyes widened with what looked like disbelief, shock and also fear?
"N-No... no... you can't love me, you shouldn't love me...!"
He says, his voice breaking midway through his declaration.
"Why not?"
You respond. You're nothing but confused right now, you've never seen him like this before. Diluc was a calm and rational man to you, so you'd never seen him like this before.
"Because!”
He shouts, standing up from the couch forcefully. He turns away from you, walking towards the tightly covered window.
"I'm nothing but a monster! You should love someone better than me!"
"Diluc, why are you talking about..!?"
Almost as if to answer your question, he pulls the curtains apart, the tight bindings on them tearing from his abnormal strength. The sun pours into the already dimly lit room.
Diluc winces, resisting the urge to cover his face. He groans in pain and turns around to face you.
Your heart drops at the sight of him. The way his pale skin now glows and crackles from the sunlight, burning his skin.
"He's burning, he's in pain!"
You quickly leap from your seat, pulling the blanket that was draped onto the couch with you. You throw the blanket over his head, shielding him from the sun's piercing light.
Diluc's eyes widen with shock as you pull him away from the window and pull the curtains back to block the sunlight.
You look afraid and worried, as you frantically pace around the room looking for something that's unknown to him. After a few minutes of you tearing through his cabinets, you finally find what you're looking for
A roll of bandages.
You desperately cover the skin that's been burnt with the bandages. Diluc takes note of how heavy you're breathing, how you're almost hyperventilating.
Once you've covered the burns on his face, you search the other uncovered parts of his body for any more injuries. And Diluc finally hears your voice breaking the uncomfortable silence that had formed.
"Why the fuck would you do that...!?"
You try to sound angry, but your voice immediately shakes and falters, turning your tone of voice into a more desperate one.
Diluc begins to feel guilty, hearing the pain in your voice hurts him more than those burns did.
You raise your head to look at him in the eyes, opening your mouth to spit more words at him.
"Why would you hurt yourself like this...!?!?"
You choke on those words, tears beginning to fall down your cheeks at a rapid pace. The sight of you so distraught makes Diluc's barely beating heart ache immensely.
"I..."
Diluc struggles to get what he wants to say out.
"I didn't want to love you, in case I'd hurt you..."
He looks away from you, too ashamed to keep eye contact.
"Do you not see how much this hurts me though!?"
You reply, gritting your teeth.
"I don't care that you're not a human like me! I still love you, and nothing is going to change that!!"
More tears fall down your cheeks, some even hitting and sliding down his own face.
Diluc hesitantly reaches a hand up, pressing his gloved hand against the back of your head and pushing it forward so that your forehead rests against his.
"I'm sorry."
He apologises, being finally able to look you in the eyes again. He's sincere in his words.
You sniffle, closing your eyes and placing your hands on his shoulders. You don't respond to his apology, but he can tell that you've already forgiven him.
Diluc smiles and closes his eyes too, not deciding to start any more conversations, and leaving the two of you to calm in silence.
DAINSLEIF: (1424 words)
•When Khaenri'ah fell, Dainsleif was cursed with both immortality and vampirism. The immortality came with becoming a vampire.
•So he decided to travel Teyvat alone, so as to not let anyone know about his inhumanity.
•At first, Dainsleif struggled with being a vampire. He could only be on the move when the sun was down, but it wasn't like he could get very far with how sluggish he was from repressing his blood cravings.
•Eventually, he managed to figure things out. Every once in a while he'd feed on some poor drunkard walking home in the middle of the night. And he managed to construct a ring that made him immune to the sunlight, meaning he could now travel by day as well.
•The 500 years he's spent travelling alone were incredibly lonely for him. Because he didn't want anyone to know that he was a vampire, he isolated himself from civilisation, only occasionally stepping into the cities to get a drink at a tavern or to buy something he needed.
•He lived completely alone for five centuries, until you came along.
•Dainsleif had spotted you, another traveller, trying your best to fight some slimes that had been attacking you, but you weren't really doing a good job. So, he stepped in to help you out. He planned to just slay the slimes, make sure you were okay, and be on his merry way once again.
•But you had completely ruined his plans, chasing after him as he tried to walk away from you, saying that you'd pay him back with a meal at a nearby restaurant or a drink from one of the taverns he'd been to a few times.
•No matter how many times he'd try to let you down gently, you just kept going, insisting that because he saved your life that you should repay him.
•Once Dainsleif finally came to terms with the fact that you weren't going to let up, he sighed and agreed to your offer (demand)
•So you took him to a tavern for a meal and a few drinks. By the end of it, you were completely drunk and he was still completely sober.
•Regular human food and alcohol don't do much to his system. It wasn't like his body rejected them, but he would never become drunk even if he drank a sea of booze, and he would never become full off of just meats and vegetables.
•Much to Dainsleif's annoyance, he ended up carrying you back to his campsite to let you sleep there. He made sure to keep watch the entire night just in case.
•When you woke up, the first thing you saw through a bleary gaze was a pint of water being held out to you by Dainsleif. He scolded you for drinking too much last night and forced you to drink the water to lessen your hangover.
•And since then, you've somehow become a pest in his side. You both travelled around Teyvat together, soothing Dainsleif's centuries-long loneliness.
•Though, having a human companion by his side wasn't easy for Dainsleif. Especially if he was due for another feeding.
The crackling fire illuminated the campsite that had been darkened by the evening sky. The entrancing flames distracted you as Dainsleif tried his best to calm himself down in your shared tent.
He was due for another feeding, and the smell of your blood was driving him crazy. He was trying his best to hold back on his desperate cravings until you slept, so he could drink from another bumbling drunkard roaming the paths.
But it was getting increasingly harder and harder to hold himself back as the minutes passed by.
Dainsleif refused to drink from you. He didn't want to harm or scare you away. Overtime, he'd come to actually enjoy your company. Driving you away with his monstrous tendencies is the last thing he wants, especially after being alone for far too long.
"Dainsleif?"
Your voice breaks him out of his thoughts, and he looks up to see you, placing a hand on his shoulder. He hadn't even realised you'd moved away from the fire to come to his side.
"Are you alright? You look awfully pale..."
Awfully pale was just how he always looked, though he was probably as white as a ghost by now from how badly he needed to feed.
"I-It's nothing..."
Dainsleif utters with a surprisingly weak voice. He averts his eyes away from you, feeling embarrassed that you have to see him so weak.
"Are you sure? I think you may be ill..."
You respond, holding his chin to keep his head in place while you studied his features for any signs of illness.
Dainsleif's breath became ragged at how close you were to him. He was using all of his self control to not just pounce on you and drink straight from your neck.
In your eyes, you had just thought that he was refusing help because he didn't want to seem weak around you. Though the issue was much bigger than that.
"P-Please, I'm fine..."
He breathes out. He does not look fine in the slightest.
You furrow your eyebrows at him, starting to become annoyed at how he's pushing you away.
"You don't have to pretend, Dain. I can tell something's wrong, you can tell me y’know."
Dainsleif swallows. He wants to resist, to run away and return to you while you're asleep and he's finally been fed. But he cannot.
"H-How much do you know about... inhuman creatures...?"
He finally asks with his voice and breath shaking.
"Hmm... like slimes? Have you been poisoned by one or something?—"
"No, no, it's nothing like that..." He cuts you off, taking a deep breath before speaking again. "I-I meant creatures who appear to be human... but they aren't..."
You think for a few moments, thinking back to all the books you read before you decided to set off on your journey across all of Teyvat. After a few minutes of thinking, you manage to come to a conclusion.
"Like a vampire or something?"
"Yes... a vampire..."
"What about them?"
Dainsleif doesn't even find the energy to tell you. He simply just opens his mouth a little to show off his sharp fangs in his teeth that replaced his canines.
Your eyes widen. You're surprised, and even a little bit scared, but you know Dainsleif won't hurt you.
Not hurting you is what got him to this state in the first place, isn't it?
"Are you hungry?"
You ask him, and he weakly nods in response.
You take a deep breath before undoing the top button on your shirt, pulling your collar down enough to fully expose your neck. You hold his chin against and force him to look up at you.
"Drink from me." You say, and Dainsleif's eyes widen.
"B-But—"
"I don't want to hear it. I know you won't hurt me, so just drink already.”
A bit of anxiety goes through your mind, wanting to back out. But you'd rather be in pain than have your closest companion die of starvation when you could've prevented it.
Dainsleif hesitantly pulls you close to him, pressing his mouth against the side of your neck. He places small kisses on the warm skin, whispering out a bunch of "Thank you's" as he prepares himself to drink from you for the first time.
Right before he drinks from you, he whispers a small "I'm sorry," before taking a bite.
At first, it hurts. Your nails dig into Dainsleif's shoulders as he feeds from you. His thumbs draw comforting circles on your back to try and soothe you.
When the pain finally subsides, it actually starts to feel a little good. You let out a mix between a sigh and a moan as your nails stop digging into his shoulders and instead grip at his shirt.
Once he finishes drinking from you, he licks and kisses the spot he bit into, lapping up any blood that's spilled out from your neck.
The experience left you completely exhausted. You rested your head on Dainsleif's shoulder as he grabbed the first aid kit from your bag, pulling out a small bandaid to put over the bite.
When he's done patching you up, he lays you down gently onto your mat, pulling up the small blanket you had. His gloved hand brushes the hair sticking to your forehead away, and he plants his lips there in a gentle kiss.
"Sleep well..."
He whispers, before your vision fades to black.
DAN HENG: (1137 words)
•Unlike the other two, Dan Heng was actually born as a vampire. Though he's never met his parents before.
•Vampires like him age super slowly. So he's got another few centuries on his belt until he becomes weak enough to die or be killed easily.
•Instead of hiding himself away though, he works as a librarian in a public library.
•While he's very quiet and hard to communicate with, he is actually a very good worker (he plans to go down with the library if that ever happens)
•Nobody actually knows he's a vampire, not even his boss or his coworkers. While his previous bosses had noticed that he barely seemed to age as the years went by, they always felt too intimidated by his quiet and stoic nature to ask him about it.
•Dan Heng, like Dainsleif, also has a daylight ring. Though this is just something he's had with him for as long as he can remember.
•You show up for the first time in his life when you're hired to work in the library with him.
•Unfortunately for him, you just happened to want to strike up a conversation every time you saw him. His boss must've noticed this, because suddenly, majority of your shifts aligned right with his.
•Dan Heng is a bit annoyed that his nice peace and quiet is now being interrupted by you. But he's not a bad guy, so he's not going to get mad at you and push you away or make you feel horrible because of it.
•So, after a bit of trying to get him to talk to you, he caves and replies to you.
•And that started your friendship with him.
•You two remained as good friends for a while. It was until Dan Heng realised that he had started to fall for you that he started to push you away without even realising it.
•He felt bad for falling for you. He felt bad that he'd live on for centuries, while you only had a few decades. It made him feel guilty thinking of how you'd grow old and he'd technically not even be 30 yet.
•So, he started slipping informative books about vampires into your piles of books that you were going to borrow. He didn't know how to tell you outright the truth, so he hoped that this would get his message across.
•It did not.
Dan Heng notices you sigh while you're looking through your stack of books that you had left to the side unattended for only a few minutes. He watches you walk over to him and place the book he had slipped into your pile in front of him on the desk.
"Can you put this back in its original spot?" You sigh again, tapping on the hardcover with your nails.
Dan Heng picks up the book. "Are you not a fan of vampire books?" He asks bluntly, slightly raising an eyebrow.
"It's not that." You reply "They just keep showing up with the books I want to borrow even though. I don't put them there... do you think we're being haunted by a vampire or something?"
Dan Heng shakes his head. "Don't be absurd. Ghosts are the ones that haunt, not vampires."
"Oh? Sounds like you know a lot about vampires. Perhaps you're the one slipping these into my pile behind my back?"
You notice the way Dan Heng's eyes practically pop out of his head with how surprised he looks. It was an odd expression for him.
"Hey, you don't have to look so surprised, I was joking—"
"You're right."
Now you're the one who's surprised, though not to the same extent as he was just merely a few seconds ago.
Dan Heng sighs. "Can we go somewhere private? I have something to tell you."
You nod your head and follow him. The both of you are silent as you walk to a secluded spot in a corner of the library. When you both stop walking, Dan Heng turns to face you with a guilty expression on his face.
"I have two things to tell you..."
He begins, taking a deep breath before looking straight into your curious eyes.
"I have... fallen for you."
A cute red blush appears on his cheeks, and with the way yours had started to burn, you probably looked the exact same as him.
"But... I cannot be with you."
That immediately makes you confused. Your heart starts to pound harder.
"Wh-What do you mean?"
You stutter, your voice raising in a pitch a little too high when you emphasise your question.
Dan Heng sighs again, rubbing his shoulder awkwardly.
"The reason I've been slipping books about vampires into your pile is... well... because I am a vampire."
You cannot tell if you're being played right now.
"...Are you serious?"
"Yes."
With the way Dan Heng continues to look straight into your eyes without faltering makes you believe him more. But you have no reason to not believe him anyway, after all, Dan Heng was a serious person, so what would he get out of lying to you like this?
"So... how does that play into you loving me?"
Dan Heng bites his lip, fiddling with the ring he always wore to calm his anxieties down.
"I'm practically immortal. If we ever end up together in the future, you'll die way before I even reach the age you died at..."
It seems his anxieties only worsened as he explained the reason to you. That thought hadn't crossed your mind, but you understand why he looked so guilty and distressed over it.
You exhale, taking a step closer to him and placing a hand on his shoulder. He looks at you, wondering what you're planning to do.
"I'm sure we can work something out when that inevitably comes around. For now, why don't we just enjoy ourselves without worrying about the future?"
You smile warmly, brushing your thumb over his bottom lip.
Dan Heng doesn't respond for a second, but he finally nods to your statement.
"Alright, let's do that."
He grabs the wrist of your hand that's touching his face, moving it away and intertwining his fingers with you, giving you a small reassuring squeeze.
Dan Heng looks at you and smiles for the first time during your whole conversation. Your heart flutters at the sight of it, and you can't help but lean in and kiss it.
Dan Heng's eyes widen again when you pull away, and you immediately regret doing that.
"I-I'm sorry! I should've asked for permission first!"
"N-No... it's fine."
Dan Heng touches his lips, the blush on his face growing.
"...Can I kiss you again then?"
You ask shyly, playing with his fingers in your linked hands.

Akito was blown away.
You had came to Vivid Street later than him, meaning he’d been singing for longer than you had.
But you were so skilled despite being so inexperienced, it completely blew him away.
As he stood in the crowd of the music venue you were performing at, he couldn’t help but feel prideful, especially since he’s able to be the one dating such a talented person as you.
Once your performance had ended and the crowd erupted in cheers, he watched you walk off stage, and he followed quickly behind so he could meet up with you.
Akito waited patiently outside of the backstage for you, leaning against the wall and scrolling through his phone mindlessly.
When you came out through the door, you spotted him almost immediately. Your face lit up with excitement as you rushed over to him.
“Akito! Hi!” You smiled widely.
“What did you think of my performance?? Was it good??” You pressed him with various questions, all while excitedly bouncing on the spot.
Akito smiled at your energetic mood, placing his phone into his pocket to give his full attention to you. “It was great. You have a real talent for this, y’know?”
If it were possible, your face lit up with more happiness than it already had.
“You think so?? You’re not just saying that because you’re my boyfriend, are you?”
“Of course not.” Akito responded, slinging his arm over your shoulders as you both began to walk out of the music venue.
When you both were outside and completely alone, you turn to face Akito and you cup his cheeks, pulling him down for a kiss.
“Thank you.” You say softly, a complete contrast from how loud and energised you were just before.
Akito smiled at you, kissing you briefly once again as a response.
After the kiss, he slings his arm back over your shoulders and presses you against his side, letting you rest your head on his shoulder as you both walked through the streets to eventually go your seperate ways and go home for the night.

Gepard opens the front door to a quiet and dark house, the light from the moon and nearby streetlights illuminating the room, but only slightly.
As he walks to your shared bedroom, he can see the light through the cracks of the door. He sighs, you must've stayed up late waiting for him again. Pushing the door open, he sees your curled up figure sleeping on top of the fully made bed.
It never sat right with Gepard whenever you insisted that you were okay staying up late for him, because it was clearly tiring you out the later into the night his shifts were. Seeing you like this made him feel guilty that he wasn't there with you, sometimes even for the entire day.
He quietly gets changed, removing his armour and being extra careful to not drop any of it so that you wouldn't wake up. Once he's done changing, he returns to you, gently picking you up and pulling back the bedsheets to set you in comfortably. Once he's done that he goes to his side of the bed and settles himself in, not before turning off the lights.
Gepard brings your sleeping body into his arms, cuddling you closely and burying his face into your hair, inhaling the scent of your shampoo.
The guilt from earlier resurfaces into his mind as he picks up on how your body relaxes against his. You must've been cold waiting for him, so why didn't you get into bed? Were you waiting to go to bed together? that thought made Gepard feel worse.
He wanted to spend more time with you, going on dates and cuddling each other, as well as many other things. But he couldn't be home as much as he'd like to be, as his job was very taxing for him, and whenever he had a day off he'd never be in the greatest mood to do anything fun with you.
You always insist that it's fine and that you don't mind, but Gepard just can't help but put himself down for being such a bad boyfriend to you. Even if you don't mind that he's not in the mood to go to a new cafe that just opened up, or that you don't see him all day for majority of the week.
He doesn't deserve you, you're way too good for him.
Gepard cuddles you closer, tangling your legs with his and leaving no space in between you both. He stares at your peaceful expression as you sleep, tracing the outlines of your features with his fingers. He moves to hold your hands, to look at your empty ring finger.
He'd really like to put a ring on there someday.
But for now, he'll fall asleep with you and pray that he gets a day off anytime soon. To shower you in the love and affection that you deserve and the love and affection that he hasn't been able to give you recently.
He presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, whispering a goodnight and finally drifting off to sleep.
