A/N: I feel unmotivated to finish my drafts. I have exactly 3 half-done fanfiction and feel like my skills are not enough to describe them as beautifully as they deserves. So the texts are the easiest mood makers and now I just hope.

from how the fragmentum created those alien-like creatures swarming in the frosted whipped lands of belobog, gepard landau reminds himself, "doubt breeds arrogance, and doubt breeds evil. as a model for belobog, you shouldn't overthink." those words echoes when the captain sowed seeds of doubt. the weight of it, the reminders of how this pushed him through his position as a private to a general, carried till this day.
it all changed when he met someone test against his own moral code... you.
a sneaky, short-fused thief who's as radiant as a geomarrow crystal. a fool who likes to tip toe around gepard to only pull at his leg, snickering apologies as tears wells in their eyes.
he finds himself sometimes staring out to the distance. whether it be at the crack of dawn, washing his face with the frigid waters, or when the skies of belobog turned a dark blue, his eyes staring into the moon. his thoughts distorts and morphs into you.
it's a confusing thought. he didn't want to associate himself with a criminal no less a masked fool. but he couldn't help but be charmed by you. he knows what this is... uncertainty.
this uncertainty can breed doubt, bleeding into his duties as a captain. he winces at the thought. perhaps, the reasons he didn't like it was because there was no structures, no rules, but just blindless walking into an impenetrable fog of doubt.
he is gepard landu. he is the captain of the silvermane guards who swore an oath to preservation under the qlipoth. he faced countless battles against alien monsters, he has seen the rise and fall of his fellow comrades. yet, he faces an adolescent problem he's not ready to admit: a crush.
It wasnāt a question, one of those condescending ones that makes the other person embarrassed for having been left out of a common experience. It was an exclamation as you realized the truth: Gepard had lived in Belobog his whole life, a place with no summer warmth or sandy coasts of any kind.
You always loved taking him places he had never been. Being able to leave his planet was rare, before you moved in with him he almost never could stay long at your home. He felt bad about it too, you could tell. But you didnāt mind.
You had first met him while visiting Belobog with March 7. You werenāt a member of the Astral Express, god no, but when they had come to your home planet you and March became very fast friends. She initially took you to Belobog because none of her other companions were willing to join her for the annual festival, and she insisted that you would love it there. She says that about every place she goes, but you had the time so you figured it couldnāt hurt to go.
When you got there, you did quite like the city. It was all old fashioned, but everything felt clean and new at the same time. March had gone off to buy some snacks, and you were wandering around, not really paying attention, when all of a sudden you felt a hand grab your arm. Before you knew it, he was holding you against his body, keeping you safely away from the trolley passing by. You looked up at your newfound hero, his deep blue eyes, his alabaster skin now turning a gentle rose as he looked down and saw how wonderful you were.
It was all over after that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gepard tried to hide his embarrassment about your realization. He wasnāt unfamiliar with the concept of course, but that didnāt mean he knew what he was missing. All he knew is that it seemed like you wanted to take him. And he knew he was going to make a fool of himself.
Truthfully, you didnāt care. Mostly you wanted to see him in swimming trunks with his shirt off. You could see him without his shirt all the time, of course, but you couldnāt help but love the idea of other people seeing him like that, and being jealous that he was yours.
āDoesnāt⦠donāt you have to swim to go to the beach?ā He asked sheepishly.
You laughed.
āWell, itās better if you do. But as long as you donāt go out deeper than you can handle you can still have fun in the water just fine.ā
He probably would be able to swim pretty well once taught. But you really just wanted to go out there with him more than anything. You made a mental note to look into swimming lessons for him later. He would look so hot swimming laps.
āAre you really sure weāll need all of this?ā He scratched his head as you frantically packed the cooler with drinks and a picnic lunch, and stuffed towels into a beach bag.
āI want you to have the full experience!ā You said. You were a little nervous he wouldnāt like it, and he could tell. He placed his hands on your shoulders and looked you in the eyes, forcing you to slow down.
āIām going to enjoy myself no matter what, as long as youāre there.ā
God he was just the sweetest thing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you got out of the transport Gepard was immediately overwhelmed, but in a good way.
āItās so⦠warm.ā
He had been on other planets before, but heād never been on a tropical planet like this.
āToo much?ā You asked, worried he didnāt like it. He smiled and kissed you on the forehead.
āI love it.ā
The transport dropped you off right by the entrance to the beach, so you walked together until you found a spot. Gepard was being a total gentleman, as usual, carrying the cooler and the umbrella and the multiple beach bags. You may have over packed just a tad.
You hadnāt gotten to the beach particularly early, but you still managed to find a half decent spot. You didnāt need much space since there was just the two of you. You removed the clothes you were wearing over your swimsuit and pulled out the sunscreen. Gepardās eyes widened and his ears turned pink.
āToo much?ā You asked. You may or may not have found a swimsuit that you knew he would find particularly enticing. You just couldnāt help yourself. But now you were wondering if you made the wrong choice.
āNo,ā he said sheepishly. āPlenty of people are dressed like that, it's justā¦ā he adjusted his shorts slightly.
āItās different when itās you.ā
Oh, you thought you were going to get him all flustered and nervous but now heās got you feeling all sorts of ways.
āWell,ā you said, trying to play it cool. āTake off your shirt so I can help you put on some sunscreen.
It took everything in you not to gasp at how amazing he looked with his shirt off. Youāve seen him many times wearing much less, but you still couldnāt help but be amazed by his incredible body. You pulled the sunscreen out of your bag and squirted some into your hands.
Gepard wasnāt a complete stranger to sunscreen of course. Every kid in Belobog had the formative experience of going out in the snow and staying out a little too long, and coming back inside with bright red cheeks that hurt like hell when their mama rubbed lotion on them. Sunlight reflected on snow like nobodyās business. But in the snow, youād be wearing all sorts of coats and boots. The sunlight wouldnāt touch much more than your face.
āThat looks like a lot,ā Gepard muttered.
āYouāre so pale though.ā You started spreading it across his beautiful rippled chest. āItād be a shame to burn this beautiful body of yours on the first go.ā
Gepard blushed. He was so cute when he was flustered, and he was awfully easy to get there. He kept a straight face while on duty but the moment you would show up with his lunch he forgot and he was all shy and stammering.
You took your time with him, massaging in the sunscreen. You could just as well use the spray, but you figured that he would burn awfully easily and you didnāt want to take chances of missing a spot. Plus, touching his body was always a treat. You were extra thorough with his back too, really savoring the experience. You would have kissed him on his shoulders if the sunscreen wasnāt so greasy. He must have been able to tell that you were taking your time on purpose because after a while he told you
āBeing extra thorough are we?ā
You finally relented and started applying your own sunscreen. You also gave him some for his arms and legs. You would have loved to massage it into his biceps, his forearms, his calfs, his thighs, but he was already getting a bit impatient with you. He wasnāt upset by any means, though. He was just waiting for his turn.
āCome on kit, let me take care of your back now.ā
At the sound of your pet name, you folded immediately. Gepard may get flustered easily, but you werenāt much better about it. He kissed your shoulders and neck while he worked on your lower back, and then worked his way up to your shoulders.
Once you were both all sunscreened up, you started to set up your spot. You laid out two beach towels, and had Gepard help you with the umbrella.
āI thought weāre going in the water,ā he said.
āMost people like to go back and forth,ā you explained. And itās nice to have your shade and cooler ready to go.ā
You could tell that he was a little overwhelmed with all of the people around. Belobog may be a city, but it was still quite small, all things considered. You placed your hand on his back.
āYou ok?ā You asked.
āIāve never been on sand before,ā he said.
āOh yeah,ā you replied, feeling a bit stupid. Of course he hadnāt.
āIt gets pretty hot in the sun,ā you warned him. āAnd keep an eye out for litter or sticks or shells. This beach seems pretty clean, but itās always good to watch your step.ā
Gepard smiled at you, adoring your fussing. Usually that was his job; making sure you were warm enough, making sure you werenāt out late by yourself, making sure you always had a backup for everything. But that was his way of showing that he cared about you, and he loved when you reciprocated.
You held his hand and watched him carefully as you both removed your shoes and walked toward the shore. You kept a careful eye on his facial expression, as it twisted from discomfort from the heat of the sand to wonder as the sand got wet and you both left footprints behind you.
āI always thought it would be more like snow,ā he said. āBut this is so different.ā
āGood different?ā You asked.
He nodded his little puppy-dog-nod, his eyes shining with excitement.
āGood different,ā he grinned.
You eased forward until the water began lapping at your ankles.
āItās cool!ā He shouted in surprise.
āFeels good, yeah?ā
He grinned. Suddenly, he ran forward pulling you along, going deeper into the ocean until he was waist deep.
āYou have to warn me before you do that,ā you laughed.
āOh yeah?ā Gepard grinned. āHow about this?ā
Without warning, he picked you up and threw you over his shoulder. You squealed as he waded further into the water. He took you off his shoulder, and then cradled you in his arms, your arms wrapped around his neck as he teasingly dipped you backward, your head inches from the water.
āGo ahead,ā you laughed.
But he didnāt have the heart to do it. Instead he let you down easily, holding you carefully until he was sure you had steadied yourself on the ground.
āCome on, letās get our hair wet,ā you suggested. āIt always feels so nice.ā
He seemed a little uneasy, but he seemed ok with you by his side.
āTogether?ā He replied.
āOf course.ā
You both counted to three and leaned back, immersing yourselves in the sea. You opened your eyes underwater to see Gepard grinning back at you, his bright blonde hair taking on an almost reddish hue underwater. You both shot back up and wiped the water from your eyes.
āItās salty,ā Gepard gasped as he wiped his face. āLike really salty.ā
You giggled.
āWhat did you think salt water was?ā
āI dunno, I guess I never really thought about it.ā
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once you got back on the sand to get some sun, Gepard was having the time of his life watching everyone elseās beach activities. You looked away for just a few seconds and next thing you knew he was knelt down by a couple of kids working on a sand castle.
āYou really built all this yourselves?ā He marveled. āThatās incredible! And what are these?ā
You couldnāt help but smile at him. He had always been so good with kids, but being here seemed to bring out a childlike wonder that you couldnāt help but adore. He caught you watching and his eyes lit up, and he ran back over to you.
āDid you see that? They made that all themselves! Itās amazing!ā
āDonāt kids do stuff like that with the snow back home?ā You asked. You found his excitement sweet and adorable, but couldnāt help but wonder what would happen if you prodded him just a bit.
āItās not the same at all,ā he pouted. āIt just⦠trust me. Itās not. They have decorations and everything! I donāt even know where they got all that stuff.ā
You leaned over to the side so you could peer around his broad shoulders, and saw the kids sticking small shells on the walls of their castle.
āOh the sea shells? Theyāre everywhere? You just have to know where to look.ā
Gepard was amazed as you scanned the ground, and rather quickly dug your hands into the sand to pull out a small fragment of a sand dollar.
āWoah⦠what is that?ā
āA sand dollar,ā you explained. āItās a type of creature. When itās alive itās covered in these hairlike things. But this part is just the calcium part. Itās⦠sort of like a skeleton I guess.ā
āThatās⦠horrifying.ā Gepard didnāt seem particularly uncomfortable, but he was a little amused at the way you realized how odd a thing it was as you were trying to explain it.
āWell, theyāre really pretty, especially if you can find a whole one. These bits just wash up on the shore, cause the living ones can stay on the sea floor on their own, but they arenāt particularly deep so the tide will bring these in.ā
Gepard nodded. Then, in an adorable attempt to mimic your previous technique, he cocked his head looking at the sand to try and find something of his own.
It took a few tries for him to successfully get the hang of it but before long he managed to find a few different kinds of shells. At one point, he dug up something that looked a little different.
āHuh,ā he said softly to himself. He looked up to ask you. āHey, whatās this?ā
Your eyes widened in surprise. Youād never seen it in person, but here it was.
āThatās⦠thatās sea glass.ā
āHuhā¦ā Gepard held it up to the sun, letting the light engulf its blue frosty surface.
āIāve never seen it before! Itās not incredibly rare, but itās very sought out by collectors so it can be hard to find.ā
āOh!ā He exclaimed. āIf itās rare⦠should I put it back, or?ā
āNo!ā You tried not to shout, but you couldnāt help but be a smidge flustered. āItās um⦠itās not actually naturally occurring. Or at least, not like the shells are. Itās from glass thatās been left in the ocean, and got tumbled around by the currents. But it takes a really long time for it to fully make it to shore.ā
āOh wow.ā
He held it in his palm, letting you look at it more closely.
āItās the color of your eyes,ā you smiled.
āHere then.ā He opened up your palm and placed the sea glass in your hand. āYou should have it. For when Iām gone.ā
You looked up at him. He was so good, so kind. He would do anything for you. And he saw how precious it seemed to you. So he let you have it.
You reached an arm around his neck and kissed him.
š”ļø Gepard is the most dog-like cat you have ever met. Much like a dog, he sees you off when you leave your house, and greets you when you return. He enjoys playing fetch more than chasing after a string, since it fetch gives him more of a workout. Heās also easy to train to perform tricks since he understands and obeys commands quickly. If you wanted, you could bring him to cat agility tournaments and do fairly well in the competition.
š”ļø He might comply if your relative gave him an order to come here, but wonāt do tricks and such for them. If you tell him to come here, roll over, play dead, etc⦠Gepard will comply without hesitation. Heās that trusting and loyal towards you.
š”ļø While to you Gepard appears harmless, in reality, heās a force to be reckoned with, even for a house cat. If he sees you welcome someone into your home, he assumes the person is important to you, so he welcomes them in turn, albeit with some initial suspicion. Thatās why heās so accepting of your loved ones. However, if someone enters uninvited, especially if itās someone he doesnāt know, Gepard wonāt hesitate to growl and threaten the person to leave. His fur stands on end to make him look larger, and his teeth and claws are bared, showing that he means business. Itās usually enough to discourage anyone from trespassing. If not, then heāll alert you with a loud yowl if youāre home, or go in for an attack. Furthermore, if someone makes you uncomfortable in your own home, Gepard senses your discomfort and is immediately at your side, ready to attack if the other person tries anything. He has no reservations about using his claws and teeth for the sake of protecting his owner.
š”ļø Due to his long and thick coat, Gepard requires regular grooming. Based on the somber expression on his cute little muzzle, you can tell he doesnāt enjoy being bathed and groomed, but he soldiers through it without struggle or complaint. As mentioned previously, heās very loyal and trusting of you, so he understands that what youāre doing to him is not dangerous and is for his own benefit. Giving him praise about how much of a good boy heās being, seems to help warm him up to the process.
š”ļø While heās not a huge fan of being pet, but if you spend some time gently petting his head or brushing his fur, he will relax and accept the attention. He purrs and kneads at whatever is under him, clearly enjoying the experience. You try to give him gentle pets as a reward for waiting for you to come home and keeping watch of the house, and it works to deepen your bond with him.
š”ļø Heās vocal when with you. Gepard often communicates with you via chirps and low meows, using them as a means of calling you over for something. When you leave something cooking on the stove and forget about it, Gepard smells smoke and meows at you to come over and take care of it. If you havenāt unloaded the washing machine for a while, he calls on you to let you know its done. He just wants to help his owner stay on track.
š”ļø Once the two of you settle into a daily routine, Gepard expects you to maintain it. Heāll be unhappy if the pattern is broken. If you oversleep, Gepard is there to wake you up. Heāll meow and walk all over you until you get up and feed him. Itās great for when you sleep past you alarm since it prevents you from being late to work/school, but itās not so fun on the weekends⦠Similarly, Gepard expects you to go to bed at the same time every night. Heās used to going to bed together with you, so if you stay up late, heāll sit nearby and glare at you, tail twitching in dissatisfaction. If you donāt get his hint to abandon everything and head to bed already, then heāll quietly meow to get your attention.
Ratio:
š Is a Bengal
š Ratio is an extremely intelligent cat, but he has a nasty attitude. Heās very prideful and stubborn, and despite your attempts to discipline and train him, he refuses to bend to your will. If anything, youāre the one bending to his. Heās not a troublemaker, but if you piss him off enough, Ratio can resort to knocking items off shelves or swatting at your face (with claws retracted, thankfully) in retaliation. If you scold him for his behaviour, he simply glares at you with his ears flattened to his head and tail flicking, as if daring you to say more. Everything about his body language screams he will swat you in the face if you say another word.
š If he messes up big time, such as breaking something important or accidentally nicking you with his claws, then Ratio accepts the scolding with a guilty expression. The flicking of his tail indicates heās not happy to sit through your verbal lashing, but heās smart enough to understand that what he did was bad for you. Despite his prideful attitude, the feline doesnāt want to cause you too much trouble, or so you like to think.
š You find out that Ratio is unusually intelligent for a cat soon after adopting him. He enjoys playing with cat toys that serve as a puzzle he must solve to get a treat. Ratio also observed how you open doors, and devised his own methods of opening them despite not having hands. He also likes to sit beside you on the bed or desk when you read books, in particular textbooks. As a cat, thereās no way he knows how to read, but you frequently catch him staring intently at the pages. Itās a mystery as to what is going through his mind during those moments, but it sometimes unnerves you how he seems to be studying the images. Aside from books, Ratio also enjoys watching TV, especially if itās a documentary where he can observe various animals. Heās smart enough to know that whatās on TV is not in real life. If you bring something new home, Ratio takes time to thoroughly sniff and inspect whatever that something may be. Heās very curious and enjoys interacting with new things. That said, he also requires a lot of exercise. Heās a large and muscular cat for his breed, and requires ample space and playtime to run around and burn off excess energy.
š Despite being a cat, Ratio considers himself your equal, if not your superior. Back when you first got him, you had placed some cat food into a bowl on the floor for him while you sat at the table to eat. Ratio had expressed a clear dislike for this arrangement, climbing onto the table and angrily meowing at you. You expect him to eat kibble off the floor like a common cat, while you eat a freshly cooked meal at the table? Absolutely not. Know your place, human. After several consecutive sessions like that where he angrily yowled at you for constantly shooing him off the table, Ratio now eats at the table with you. He always waits to eat together with you, so if you skip on a meal or are late to eat, heāll make his dissatisfaction with you known.
š On the topic of food, Ratio dislikes eating cheap cat food. He likes healthier cat food brands which usually end up being more expensive, but he especially likes it if you cook his meal yourself. Some cooked chicken, fish, or seafood make him a very happy cat. Heās a spoiled cat.
š Ratio dislikes loud noises, so if you have noisy guests over, he will usually hide. He developed a habit of sticking his head inside a small paper bag you had lying around, and wearing it on his head until the guests leave. Youāre unsure if heās trying to block out the noise or trying to hide, but one thing for certain is that he becomes very upset if you remove the paper bag from his head. The bag must stay.
š Ratio typically isnāt into being pet or cuddled, so such occasions with him are rare. He does, however, enjoy it when you scratch under his chin. He tends to close his eyes and purr when you lightly scratch under his chin. Another time he allows you to touch him freely is during baths. Ratio is probably the first cat youāve ever met that loves baths. He seems to always be eager to hop into the tub and soak in the warm water. He lets you clean his body without complaint, seeming to enjoy the pampering. Heās patient while you dry and brush him, but he expects you to do a good job of grooming his fur. If youāre gentle enough with the brush, he might lean into it and purr in enjoyment.
Dan Heng:
š Is a Dragon Li
š Dan Heng is a reserved cat. He prefers to spend time alone, away from the chatter and activity of people. You can often find him sitting by a window, pensively staring outside at the world beyond the glass. You can only wonder what heās thinking about with such a somber expression. What kind of troubles do cats have on their minds?
š If you have guests over, then Dan Heng hides. He dislikes crowds and loud noises, youāve noticed. Itās rare for him to come out of hiding to meet guests. If he does, he tends to keep his distance and peers over the corner at whoever you have invited. Once his curiosity has been sated, heāll leave without interacting with your guest at all.
š Dan Heng is pretty antisocial, but heās more amicable around you. While he doesnāt humor your guests when they try to play with him, when youāre the one dangling the cat toys or laser, Dan Heng engages in play with you. He also lets you get away with more than you think. He tolerates it when you play with his paws or rub his belly, even though he doesnāt actually like it. Youāre also the only one he allows to pick him up.
š Despite purchasing him a cat bed, Dan Heng doesnāt sleep in it. He acts a bit awkward around it, as if not knowing if itās for him or not. He prefers to sleep on the floor, usually on a comfy rug. With some time and patience, you can coax him to sleep on your bed but know that he wonāt snuggle up to you. Dan Heng will keep some distance between you and will lay at your feet. Even then, heāll only lay on your bed if youāre settling in to sleep. During the day, he still naps on the floor.
š Sometimes, you notice Dan Hengās legs twitch and ears flatten when he sleeps, his fur standing on end as if he were terrified of something in his dreams. Youāre uncertain if cats can have bad dreams, but Dan Hengās reaction makes you think heās having a nightmare. He seems dazed when he wakes from such episodes, and you wonder if he dreamed about something horrible from his days when he was a stray. You try to comfort him through these episodes by checking in on him and speaking gently, which seems to help calm him down. He follows you around for a bit after that, as if wanting to remain in your presence for a bit longer.
š Despite how aloof Dan Heng is, you still know he cares about your well-being. If youāre having a bad day, he softens up to you. As if sensing your sadness, he comes out of hiding and remains by your side, sometimes even lying on your lap or chest. He allows you to pet and cuddle him if you need the comfort, and stays with you until you feel better. If you take medication, Dan Heng reminds you to take it on time if you forget.
š Dan Heng keeps himself quite clean, and only needs an occasional bath and claw trim from you to keep him in perfect condition. He's surprisingly tolerant of baths. You thought he might struggle and run, but Dan Heng calmly handles the entire bathing process without so much as a peep. If you make fun of him for looking like a wet cat, Dan Heng will give you the most unamused look youāve ever seen from a cat, and proceed to give you the cold shoulder for the rest of the day.
Sampo:
š£ Korat breed
š£ Cats are renowned for how quietly they walk, to the point their owners donāt hear them approach. Itās an amazing skill, yet somehow, Sampo manages to surpass the average cat in terms of stealth. While most cats still make noise when they accidentally knock something over when walking along cluttered surfaces or running around the house, Sampo doesnāt. Heās silent and careful about the way he moves, putting his feline brethren to shame. This skill of his comes at a detriment, however. You donāt hear him trail behind you when you do chores at home, and sometimes trip over him or step on his tail on accident. Sampo still hasnāt forgiven you for squashing his tail.
š£ He's a very intelligent and mischievous cat. Sure, he can do tricks in exchange for treats like a dog, but his intelligence goes far beyond that. Back when you first got him, there was a time when you were having dinner and Sampo came up to you and started to rub himself against your legs. He was very responsive when you leaned down to pet him, purring up a storm as you cooed at him. You were so engrossed with how cute and affectionate Sampo was acting, that you didnāt mind when he climbed up onto your lap for more affection. That was your mistake. While you were distracted with petting him, the furry scoundrel took the opportunity to snatch some food off your plate and made a run for it.
š£ He tried to use the same trick on you again, but it didnāt work a second time. However, he uses it fairly often on your guests. Despite your warning to not fall for his false charms, Sampo always manages to win your guests over and then unceremoniously yoinks their food from their plates when they least expect it. He has now been banned from the dining area when guests are over.
š£ Sampo has proven his cunning in other ways, too. Since the same tactic doesnāt work on you twice, the little furball devised another plan. He learned that you respond very effectively to his calls of distress, and so now when you have a meal, he goes into another room in the house and yowls in the most pitiful manner you have ever heard. His distressed meows make you abandon your food in favor of searching for your cat, concerned that something might be wrong with him. While youāre busy searching for him, Sampo slinks past you to where you were eating. By the time you come back after a fruitless search, you discover that half your food has gone missing.
š£ Sampoās antics donāt end there. Once when you came home, you found your pantry raided and fridge open and emptied. The culprit was none other than your feline fiend of a petāSampo. You canāt fathom how, but he figured out how to open the fridge, among other types of doors. Of course, you gave him the scolding of a lifetime. He immediately started begging for your forgiveness by rubbing against your legs and staring at you with his big, green eyes as if begging you to not be angry at little olā Sampo. Despite sucking up to you, Sampo continued to steal food from the pantry, but in smaller quantities this time to not get caught. You still caught him in the act, though, and now have locks on all your cabinets and fridge to keep him out.
š£ Aside from food theft and manipulation, Sampo also has a habit of collecting various knickknacks around the house. He squirrels away anything that catches his fancy and that isnāt securely stored away where he canāt get into. He keeps his ātreasuresā in a small nook where he suspects you wonāt find them, such as under your bed, behind the couch, or in a cluttered spot inside the closet. You only discover his secret stash when you do a deep cleaning of your home. There, in the dusty corner, are your missing hair ties, jewelry, candy wrappers, random string and other junk that you lost track of long ago. Sampo will be very upset if you confiscate these items.
š£ You canāt force Sampo to do something he doesnāt want. If you want bathe him and he hears the water running in the tub, he vanishes without a trace. If itās time to go to the vet and he sees you get out the cat carrier, he disappears like smoke. Heās right next to you one moment, and then gone the next. No amount of āpspspsā or cat treats will coax him out of hiding. You can even turn the entire place upside down and still not find him.
Dancing Through The Stars - A Splendid Partner - Gepard - Redowa
Author Notes: Gepard actually ended up being a pretty tough character to write (which was kind of frustrating, but here we are XD). In my defense, though, he was actually hard to find content for. Which is sort of a shame, since he seems like a real sweetie. The performance in this chapter was inspired by a performance of the āWinnerās Redowaā by the Stanford Village Dance Ensemble and Academy of Danse Libre at Spoleto Festival in Stanford in 2011. I wrote this while listening to the song āCrushā by David Archuleta. Just like the rest of this series, reader is female. I hope you enjoy!
If you would like to read more of this series, the fics can be found here: Dancing Through The Stars Master-List.
Type: Female reader/ sfw/ fluff/
Word Count: 1206
You really werenāt entirely sure how youād found yourself hauled into a performance being put on by the Silverman Guards, other than the fact that Gepard needed a partner. But here you were. In a vintage ballgown with an absurdly huge skirt and standing awkwardly next to Gepard while Serval giggled at you from the audience.
Or, perhaps, she was giggling more at her brother than at you. After all, Gepard looked just as awkward as you felt. A fact that was not helped by the faint dusting of pink that remained spread across his cheeks.
You glanced his way, your eyebrows arching slightly before you leaned over, āNervous?ā Your voice was pitched low and you fully intended to break the ice a little with your soft question. If anything though, your words had Gepardās bright blue eyes darting toward you in an almost alarmed fashion as he somehow managed to straighten further than he already had been.
āI- Yes. Iām confident I know the steps, so you need not worry about me making any mistakes.ā He stammered slightly before answering you in an almost rushed fashion. Like he was at attention and you were his commanding officer.
And despite everything, you felt yourself start to smile at the way his reaction clearly gave away his nerves.Ā
But then, Gepard was shy. It was something youād known for years now.
Despite being the respected, honorable, and reliable captain of the Silvermane Guards, Gepard was easily embarrassed. As was evidenced by the blush that remained present on his face as his gaze darted away from yours a little bit too quickly.
Still though, all things considered, it was ridiculous for him to be nervous. You knew perfectly well that he practiced all but relentlessly to ensure that he knew the steps of redowa by heart.
In fact, you wouldnāt be surprised if he had the whole performance memorized by now. If one of you was going to mess up, then it definitely wouldnāt be him.
You opened your mouth, about to reassure him only for the music to start up, signaling you to turn toward your partner and bow as you reached out and took each otherās hands.
All told, the performance was going to be very simple. The redowa was a dance that had everyone moving in a circuit around the stage, and that was precisely what all of you would be doing.Ā
The only truly strange thing was that you were here, considering you were not a member of the Silvermane Guard.Ā
But there was no helping it. Gepardās previous partner had abruptly come down with the flu and Serval had wasted no time in eagerly putting your name forth as a candidate for replacing them.
What had been interesting was that, while you hadnāt really been that bothered by Servalās actions beyond a little whining on your part, Gepard had done his very best to come up with an excuse for you. At first youād genuinely thought that he absolutely did not want to dance with you. But the moment Serval and Lynx had scolded him about possibly hurting your feelings, Gepard had backtracked.
Apparently, according to him, he had no qualms about dancing with you. He just hadnāt wanted to trouble you.
So youād ended up being his partner and coming to all of the practice sessions whereĀ youād both learned the dance you now performed on stage. Swirling around in a large circuit with the varying guards as you went through the light, occasionally hopping steps of the redowa.
And for almost the entire dance one of your hands remained gripped in Gepardās while the other rested lightly against his shoulder. Leaving his other hand to wrap firmly, but carefully against your waist.
And as you danced with him, you couldnāt help but smile slightly at the mere memory of the way heād apologized for standing so close the first few times youād entered hold.
You glanced up at him as you paused mid-circuit across the stage to lightly kick to the side with one leg in a way that had your large skirt flipping up ever-so-slightly at its edge.
Predictably, Gepard was focused on what he was doing. With the slightest of frowns on his face as he pivoted with you. Exchanging sides of the stage so that you were now toward the inside of the circle made of dancers while he was on the outside, with his broad back to the audience. Almost like he was hiding you from those present as they clapped along to the music and cheered all of you along in genuine enjoyment.
The performance was obviously a success, but you really werenāt sure if the Silvermane Guardās had ever done something like this. Gepard had mentioned that it was intended to improve the guardās image since a large majority of people viewed them as very stuffy. A part of you honestly wondered how many of the members were like Gepard though.
Upstanding and determined to do their very best, even if they were just slightest bit awkward.
But therein lie Gepardās charm. His earnestness and innate determination to do his very best. And that, paired with his slight shyness, was why most everyone who knew him either admired him, enjoyed teasing him, or were just overall fond of him.
And you were among that number of people.
āLooks like you were right. I didnāt have anything to worry about.ā Your words came out softly, but they had Gepardās gaze quickly shifting to your face as you smiled at him. And he blinked in quiet surprise as the performance came to an end.
His gaze kept darting your way as he bowed next to you, his blue eyes flashing your way in an almost curious fashion as you mirrored his motions and curtseyed to the polite applause of the audience and overly loud cheers of both Serval and Lynx.
And when you straightened you glanced over, only to find a slight smile on Gepardās face as he looked your way more openly now. Inclining his head with a steadily softening gaze, āIām glad that I didnāt hold you back then.ā
You blinked, pausing for a moment before outright chuckling at his words with a slight, disbelieving shake of your head, āIf anyone was being held back, Sir Gepard, it was you.ā
You couldnāt quite help the teasing lilt to your voice as you playfully called him āSir.ā But he either didnāt notice, or it didnāt bother him considering the way he shook his head with a gentle smile that you always wished he wore more frequently, āNo, you were a splendid partner. Iā¦ā He faltered. Pausing to cough awkwardly into his gloved hand as he looked away before his gaze inevitably flickered back your way as he hid the lower part of his face behind his hand, āI canāt think of anyone who would have been better.ā
And while you felt your smile spread at his words, there was no denying that the pink flush that was visible at the tips of ears made his words all the better and had you leaned towards him playfully, āAnd I could say the same to you. Sir Gepard.ā
I know Gepard is overwhelmingly protective of sick!Reader. He doesn't realise the extent of it, but he's left fretting over every little thing. You cannot fault him for thatāhis mind drifts back to your health constantly. You sigh and he's asking whether you can breathe comfortably. You shuffle and he's asking whether you're in pain. This attention borders on suffocating, but Gepard means well.
