I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study

after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines

When I selected the new weapon in my inventory, there was an option to test them on the train section. But, instead of bringing you to the normal train session with the standard gameplay where you have to defeat the Monoeye, there was a old man in the middle where the monoeye would normally be and then a bunch of rock/lava monster started spawning everywhere around you and the gameplay was a sort of escort mission where the monsters started marching towards you. And you had to keep the old man safe from the enemies.

In spite of equipping the more powerful weapon, it was a difficult task . I remember thinking at some point in the dream that this might have been a proper section of the game I somehow accidentally missed/overlooked and felt dumb about never finding out about it till now, in spite of owning the game for over 10 years.

I woke up and never figured l out how it ended. Maybe the old man was a god in disguise and you could earn his favor by proving yourself to him. Idk.

This is what happens when we are so deprived from canon kid Icarus content your dreams starts making new stuff up. This game will always hold a special place in my heart, hopefully we’ll get a new game or remake on the future.

wait WAIT that actually DOES sound like something the original Kid Icarus (1986) did. I believe the first room appears in Stage 1-3 where an old man (known as Friendly God; nameless other than that) will challenge you to endure a “harsh trial” in order to earn one of three weapons—the longbow, a protective crystal, or flaming arrows. Basically, he throws monoliths at you, and you either kill them or die… guess he upgraded lol.
