To some of you, this whole post is gonna be old news. But some of yall seem to desperately need a refresher, so allow me to break down how Harry and Louis' closets are connected and why they intertwine the way that they do. Consider this a reminder of the fact that their closets are still ever-present, still not their choice, and still affected by the fact that they're with each other and not just queer and single.

Harry has been the golden boy since the band days. They tried to market Liam as the face of the band until it became clear that the fans were favouring Harry a lot. This caused a shift to where they put Harry moreso at the forefront, nearly in a "lead singer" type of position. Obviously this was picked up on by people like Jeff Azoff, who started scouting Harry in 2013 to eventually scoop him up as a solo artist.

Louis, on the other hand, was seen as less valuable by Syco and less valuable by other companies. He got stuck with Syco after the band split, only escaping Syco when their company was dissolving. He was somewhat blacklisted, not fully (or he wouldn't have a career right now) but he was limited in where he could go.

When Harry became a solo artist, his fanbase very quickly outgrew the 1D carry-over fans. It grew to the point that Harry was in a different celebrity level altogether, to the point some of his fans have no idea he was even in 1D, and many of his fans have no idea what Larry Stylinson is.

Louis, on the other hand, took a while to start his solo career. He'd spent years being manipulated into believing he was less valuable as a band member and that he wouldn't do well as a soloist, so he took a few years to build up the confidence to start putting out solo albums. This, alongside Syco not particularly liking or helping him, led to his fanbase staying majorly 1D fans and Larries who'd carried over. That isn't a bad thing, but it is relevant.

See, because of the difference in 1D & Larrie populations in Harry and Louis' fanbases, the way their teams (closeters) have to go about denying and minimizing Larry rumours is very different. For Louis, it's verbal denials, social media denials, more harsh phrasings and occasionally even naming Larry Stylinson as the conspiracy he's denying. For Harry, it's usually putting him into a stunt to show the GP he's not gay.

If Harry were to address Larry as directly as Louis does, it would cause more problems than it solves. His fanbase majorly doesn't know or care about Larry Stylinson, so a direct denial from him would just spark more rumours and probably raise a lot of questions as to why he's even bringing up a supposed conspiracy theory from 15 years ago. But for Louis, his fanbase has such a strong Larrie (and Directioner) presence that his denials more effectively damage the thick concentration of Larries that reside in his fanbase. He has very few solo fans who aren't aware of Larry, so there's little risk of sparking new Larries when he does a denial. That's why his denials work so well at making people un-Larrie en masse.

Now, to get into their teams' opinions of them as artists. I wanna start by saying that there is an established pattern of Harry and/or Louis pushing against their closet, followed by the punishment from their teams of Louis doing a denial and Harry starting a new stunt. I know a friend of mine is working on a post showing all of the examples of this pattern, so I won't detail every instance here, but this is a pattern. Anyway, teams & opinions;

Harry, as I said, has always been the golden boy. The money maker. His level of fame means his team has to be VERY good at their job to avoid anything going wrong. His public image is very carefully created, and any controversial aspects (such as his womanizer rep) is very carefully constructed on purpose to add reasonable flavour to his public persona that will attract fans more than it turns them away. His team is smart in that way, and they're always working in the best interest of making Harry palatable to the most amount of people possible.

Louis, on the other hand, doesn't seem to even be liked by his team. He's been kept in this weird stasis where he can't seem to break out of his primarily 1D fanbase, but he also doesn't ever sink out of the industry and get fully blacklisted like people like Katie Waissel or Rebecca Ferguson were. KW and RF have to be fully independent now because of blacklisting, to give an example of how Louis hasn't been fully blacklisted.

Louis' team frequently makes moves that actively damage his rep, and they've been doing this since babygate started. That was a major rep-ruiner, and it's only continued as much as he tries to fight it. The party boy image, the lazy laddy lad image, the homophobia image, none of it helps his career. Zara very MUCH doesn't help his career. His team doesn't even seem to enjoy promoting his shows and works, he doesn't get a ton of radio play, the list could go on and on forever.

Now, if Louis' team doesn't like him, why are they keeping him as an artist? Well, Harry. This is what I mean by they're keeping him in stasis; Louis can't be fully blacklisted and kicked out of the industry as much as his team seems to want to do because that would give him the freedom to talk shit and expose things like KW and RF did after getting blacklisted. Even if he's not a huge 'asset' to his team, the connection to Harry makes his freedom too risky. If Louis were to come out or talk shit because he got blacklisted fully, it would affect Harry's carefully constructed image and career.

Harry is a HUGE artist. Fucking HUGE. His team isn't going to risk something like that, which is why Louis is in this stasis. He isn't allowed to get too big, he's harshly punished for Larrying and hinting at his true self, but he isn't let go entirely as an artist. They keep him tied up in contracts so he can't affect Harry's career. It's very very interwoven.

And yeah, it's not fair. It's not fair to either of them, and I know Harry is likely just as upset by the fact that Louis always gets the shit end of the stick as we are. It's part of this not being their choice, because if this was something either of them could control, the balance wouldn't be so skewed. Closeting is never a willing choice, and in HL's case specifically it's evident that neither of them want the intense closet they're stuck in with all of the things they're forced to say/do to maintain it.

It's so important that we not blame Harry and Louis for their closet. Feeling your feelings when a denial happens is one thing, but be SO mindful of what you post and where you throw your accusations and hate. Remember who is in control here, remember who your enemy really is. This isn't a case of "they made their bed and now they must lie in it," it's a case of over a DECADE of interwoven closeting and contracts and blackmail and threats that has culminated in the dynamics we see today and the patterns that have never once changed.

Yes, they're grown men now, but they were not grown men when they signed their first contracts and when the closeting started. They've been funnelled through the industry in such a way to maintain these closets and maintain these dynamics in the best interest of greedy companies who want to profit off of Harry and minimize how much of a "problem" Louis is. That's where we are at, this has not changed, and if you call yourself a Larrie it is so important to understand the situation they are in so we don't unknowingly aid their closeters by pedalling hate towards HL for a situation they didn't ask to be in.

According to sources a new boyband has been formed at Bootcamp with 5 solo contestants thought to be more promising as a group.

After losing my marbles a little yesterday over not being able to find good sources on whether X-Factor bootcamp really started on 18 July 2010 and what happened on which day exactly, I wanted to make this post for myself (and for everyone who is interested).

For proof and better understanding what happened on which day, I listed all of the outfits they wore on the bootcamp days, incl. all video links. We know 23 July 2010 has been officially recognised as the date that One Direction was formed and we know what they wore when that happened. That was my starting reference point. We also know what Louis and Harry wore in their first picture together.

So, let's go!

This fantastic YouTube channel uploaded the bootcamp series videos. I watched all of those glorious 360p bastards in slow motion to peep Harry and Lou (and there were quite a few moments of them separately I hadn't noticed before, so cute! 🥹) In the process, this post has also kind of turned into a whole recap of when Harry and Louis can be seen in the bootcamp videos, oops.

At 6:56 we see them after that, now off-stage. Louis is talking to Liam, and Niall dances an Irish dance and Harry talks to someone else :D (please watch it in video, it's so cute)

The same day, Harry and Louis appear to notice (or at least sing into each other's direction) in the stairwell. This video was not aired in the official X-Factor show and seems to have been filmed by one of the contestants. It shows them practicing Man In The Mirror in a large group together.

In the video, we can see all of their Day 1-outfits well, too.

Day 2 - 19 July 2010

Harry wore his famous grape-coloured shoes (💜), a wine red hoodie, a thick black beanie and dark 3/4 trousers. Under the hoodie, he wore a purple shirt with a giant S on it and at the end of Day 2 (13:01), he had fastened his beanie with a black headband. 1:09 / 3:09 / 3:34 / 4:21 / 5:23

Niall wore a grape-coloured shirt, a dark belt, blue stonewashed jeans, and white shoes. 0:46 / 3:59

Day 2 was the day they learned a dance together. They switched positions the entire time; sometimes it was clear to see where Louis and Harry were and you can see them both dancing. 3:06

And in the final dance performance, they were once again all grouped together. (Zayn was missing, because the script was that he refused to dance; I doubt it was real) 6:59 (it's quite a long dance scene and really nostalgic to watch)

The re-upload I'm watching is not missing a part and goes seamlessly from Day 2 to Day 4. When I searched, I was not able to find a single speck of Day 3 footage or snippets in mash-up videos where Harry, Louis, Zayn, Niall or Liam were wearing something that I hadn't seen in the present material. So maybe they didn't film any 'challenges' that day and just filler material? I also remember reading quite a few articles from back then that they had problems finding availability with the usual judges (Nicole, Cheryl, Danii), because of illnesses. So maybe Day 3 was just a day off.

Day 4 - 21 July 2010

conclusion: so, this took 12+ hours, but it was SO worth it, because as it turns out, it wasn't just about archiving an X-Factor 2010 Bootcamp timeline complete with sources and photos, it also made me spend the entirety of 21 July 2025 -so the 15th anniversary of Harry & Louis talking to each other for the first time- surrounded by the source material and thus made me take a heaaaavy trip down memory lane. 🥹💙💚

Only, it wasn't really a stranger: it was Louis Tomlinson of One Direction fame, lugging a huge rucksack and getting hyped with his friends for the five days of music and partying that lay ahead. Without stopping to ask for a photo or whispering about who he was, several festivalgoers around us echoed his call, reveling in the excitement to come."

10:00 AM - Sam (Lou T's sister) and Tommo Campbell post that they are on the way to Glasto

12:07 PM - An article saying that L has a tent for himself and one for alchohol but Zara staying off-site. “Louis is determined to make it a weekend to remember and has planned everything with military like precision - including making sure enough booze is available. He has his own tent - and one just for the drinks.”

1:00 PM - Oli, Lou's sound engineer, posts that he has arrived at Glasto

1:00 PM - Anne posts a video about an elder lesbian wedding where they are so happy to not have to refer to each other as their cousins anymore.

1:00 PM - Simon Jones arrives at Glasto

Though it is rumored that Harry was at The 1975s headlining set, there are no pictures or videos. In fact, there are no pictures or videos of EITHER OF THEM from any time after the inital hour of Harry arriving.

Saturday, June 28th

12:00 PM - Zara's best friend Jade arrives at Glasto with Harry's "ex" Nadine Leopold

3:29 PM - Zara gives an exclusive interview to The Sun. Addressing their awkward pitchside head-to-head, Zara insists: “The only thing in my life that's worth writing about is the work I do. “I see some of the things that are written and I'm like, ‘Why do we focus on the non-existent drama?’ Sometimes that can be frustrating, but I suppose it’s all part of the industry.” ... “I spend my day job going out and filming with really vulnerable people. 9:07 PM - The Sun publishes "Harry Styles parties ‘incognito’ in the Glastonbury crowds until 6am – with another One Direction star there too" The former One Direction man was hard at it until around 6am yesterday at the Somerset festival’s happening party district Block9.

At some point this night, Harry orders two chicken wing meals and we get video of him at a food stand with what looks suspicously like a rainbow bear attached to his bag.

After 8PM there are no more pictures of either of them currently reported.

Sunday, June 29th

12:21 AM - The Telegraph posts an article saying "There will be quite a few sore heads among the A-list set this morning, since I have heard reports that a topless Andrew Scott, Rita Ora, Ncuti Gatwa, Tilda Swinston wearing a stick-on moustche and someone who looked suspiciously like Harry Styles were key players on the dance floor at Riotous gay club NYC Downlow last night.

2:30 AM - A video is taken of a 12-second kiss between Harry and a mystery woman.

7:00 AM - Louis likes a romantic reel on Instagram of Harry giving him a loving look with the caption "the way harry looks at him" and a song by Bruno Mars saying "if the world was ending I'd want to be next to you"

8:30 AM - Louis unlikes the reel

8:30 AM - Lottie posts a video of a dark club with an insect sculpture.

8:30 AM - Lottie removes an eariler video of Zara from her stories

10:00 PM - The Sun posts the video of Harry kissing someone at 2AM. BEST SNOG EVER Watch Harry Styles passionately snog mystery woman as ‘sparks fly’ in packed Glastonbury VIP area. One onlooker said: “Harry only had eyes for this woman and sparks were flying as soon as they were together. “Harry turned up with a few of his mates but as soon as she got there, they were almost inseparable. “She kissed him on the cheek three times before he took her hand and led her to the dancefloor. “Just short of an hour after they arrived, they kissed in front of loads of other people and didn’t seem to care who was watching.
