“I’ll tell you what,” Brooke began. “I’ll think about it, and then I’ll let you know whether or not taking responsibility is for me.” She replied, with sarcasm practically dripping from her lips with each word. “The library? What a boring way to spend the day, Belle. Why don’t you do something different today?”

“Suit yourself– it’s your life after all,” he shrugged, seeming unbothered by her and doing his best not to roll his eyes once more at her sarcasm. “Belle? How creative of you,” Arcadius huffed, clearly unimpressed. “Different? And what exactly do you have in mind?”

“I certainly hope not or I’ll be tracking them down,” Austin said, “Surely there’s somewhere to find shelter.”

“I think I should have been gifted with teleportation or the power to stop time,” Brooke mused aloud to the person sat beside her. “If I’m late to anymore classes, I feel like they’re going to kick me out.” A soft chuckle left her lips, before she turned to her company. “What brings you here today?”

“Or – crazy idea – you could just show up to class on time?” Arcadius voiced with a tired roll of his eyes. “It wouldn’t kill you to take responsibility for your own actions,” he added. “Simply a stop along my journey today, the destination being the library. As it is most of the time. I’ve got books to return and new ones to check out,” he replied.

“You do know you won’t melt if you step out of the shade, right? I know we’re fair and red headed- but a little bit of sun isn’t going to make you spontaneously combust.”

“You sure about that?” Arcadius protested with a hint of humor in his tone. “What are we doing out here anyways? I don’t reccomend tanning because we don’t tan– we just straight up burn.”

☔️ - our muses get caught in some spring showers

“How the hell did this happen?” A drenched Austin asked, “There was no rain predicted today. This is ridiculous.”

“Wait-” Lorelei commented, holding up a finger as she focused onto the other and away from her phone. “There are people out there calling it that-…can we not put a small hex on the phrase. Nothing too serious. Just something to teach them a lesson?”

“That’s what I’m saying. It should be considered an actual crime to call coffee that,” Arcadius sighed, rolling his eyes. “What’s wrong with the word coffee?”

“Oh, the waterfront!” Lola said, oblivious to the other’s lack of probably wanting to leave, “I’ve been working on drawing the whole thing since I got here. Not sure if it’s just gonna be pencil or if I’m gonna add paint or watercolour later but it’s my big project at the moment. I like to have one going at all times.”

“I do,” Lola said, “But I didn’t think I would need it today. Only a sketchpad and a few pencils. I should have figured though. I can be such a klutz sometimes.”

“Next person I hear calling coffee ‘dirty bean water’ is going to get their tongue turned into a slug I swear–” Arcadius grumbled to his sister. “Why is literally everyone annoying?”

“I’m fine, honestly. No harm done,” Lola said, standing up and brushing herself off. She started to bend down to pick up her drawing supplies.

“It’s a free cookie. I’m not stupid so I’m not going to say no,” Bea chuckled, shaking her head at him.

“Oh shoot, sorry.” April said, faltering as she walked into the classroom, “I thought this one way empty.”

“It’s not that loud in here. How could they mishear?” Austin turned to look and then smirked, “Cady, are you following me now?”

“You aren’t but I’m fine. Just haven’t been sleeping well.”

“I’m actually on my break. There’s someone working behind the counter right now who can help you with whatever you need.” Tobias replied, placing his face in his hands and rubbing his eyes without looking up at the other. He had been having a lot of nightmares recently. He wished they were just nightmares and not memories too. They were keeping him up at night and even coffee wasn’t helping, “Unless you’re not here for something coffee related?” He asked, as he realised someone was still standing nearby.

Austin grimaced as the drink burned down his throat, “Nope. that is definitely not what I ordered. How hard is it to pour the right scotch?”

“Are they your Christmas weakness?” Aubrey commented, a small smile on her face and an eyebrow raised at the others words. “Normally I would say no- but cookies of any variety are my weakness. Especially with the cup of tea.” Aubrey commented, taking a cookie from the other with a small thank you. “Though, what makes Halloween so special for you? And what cookie would you be eating if it was October?”

“Weaknesses? Uh a strong term but I guess so,” he replied after a moment of consideration. “Well you have to have a favorite no?” Arcadius asked when she admitted that cookies were her weakness in general. “Well for starters my twin sister and I celebrate our birthday on the holiday. I mean October is more commonly reserved for Halloween candy but if you ask I would argue that oatmeal or dark chocolate cookies give off an autumn vibe.”
