Thinking about the whole "there is no platonic explanation for this" thing and how it doesn't account for intense platonic situationships and anyways I think we should start saying "there is no casual explanation for this" bc really what we're talking about is the way the characters in question are Obsessed with each other
fake dating to lovers is nice but married for non-romantic reasons to lovers is next fucking level
you can evade those taxes but you can't evade your feelings
"fake married for crime committing reasons but someone actually filed the paperwork and divorce is too much effort" to dating

Rules: Make a poll with 10 of your favorite shows - they can be just 10 shows you loved watching or your top 10 tv shows of all time - and have your followers choose their favorite, then tag 10 people.
My 10 favorite shows
In Treatment (2008)
White Collar (2009)
The Good Wife (2009)
Castle (2009)
Person of Interest (2011)
The Americans (2013)
Forever (2014)
Westworld (2016)
For All Mankind (2019)
DOC - Nelle Tue Mani (2020)
God this is hard. I've left out so many. E.R., Zorro, Sherlock, Counterpart, Limitless, Timeless, Upload, Good Omens, The Pitt, Slow Horses, Deutschland 83... Also 2009 was quite the year, wasn't it?
tagging @professorlehnsherr-almashy @thermywho @laylainalaska @rainy-day-13 @ununpredictableme @imelopsittacus @chiefofboatwatsonstittymug @fluencca and whoever wants to play! I suck at tagging, but I love reading memes and voting on polls!
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
Actively watching season 5 of slow horses, the show is so good xD
Who's your favourite?
Thanks for the message my friend :)
I really like Slow Horses but it's not the kind of show where I really have a blorbo. Like For All Mankind or The Diplomat. Even The Good Wife. I like the characters for what they bring to the group dynamic and the story, but I don't have anyone that I particularly click with.
In Slow Horses, I do find the whole team at Slough House pretty likeable, and I enjoy their banter and frictions. If pressed, I might pick Standish as my favorite. I do like her "I'm too old for this s**t" attitude she has with her childish colleagues. And yet, she's a more seasoned and smarter than people think.

Ah! Mr. Hornblower.
That classic meme that keeps going rounds.
tagged by @ascreamintothevoid-blog thank you!! <3
Currently Reading: Just finished Meno Dodici (in Italian!), by Pierdante Piccioni, the real Italian doctor whose story inspired DOC. This was quite a fascinating dive into what an amnesia of 12 years really feel.
Also read Terre des Hommes, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. And after all those years, discovered that "Aimer, ce n'est pas se regarder l'un l'autre, mais regarder ensemble dans la même direction." isn't about romantic love at all, but actually pure platonic love. I've always found it beautiful but this is even more meaningful to me now.
Last Film: In the theater, La Venus Electrique, by Pierre Salvadory (delighful if not very deep movie. Opening film at the last Cannes Film Festival).
On TV, rewatched Source Code, by Duncan Jones, with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Last Show: Shrinking, excellent, truly. And finally caught up S4 of For All Mankind (still one season behind, I know!). Hadn't watched that show is a few years, and it felt good diving back. I really love that show. I feel like the time jump between seasons really works in its favor. Not only because it allows to explore different stage of space exploration, but that way, it doesn't matter if you don't remember much about the previous seasons. There's enough character continuity for it to feel familiar, but it's all new storylines each season.
Last Song: Smile, by Nat King Cole, on the radio this morning. I feel like I should make a fanvid with it or something.
Coffee or Tea: Meh. Coffee as an emergency "wake me up" only. And I'm more an infusion girl than tea. Preferencially berries.
Sweet or Salty: Both. What matters is the variety. I'm not gonna limit myself to only half of the culinary wonders.
Currently working on: Myself.
too lazy to properly tag anyone, but I'd love if people on my feed picked up the meme. Memes are fun, come and join the fun!
RIP Marjane Satrapi, author of the amazing graphic novels Persepolis about living during the fundamentalist revolution in Iran in the 70’s and 80’s. She also created the animated movie based on the graphic novels, which is where these gifs come from.

Reblogging in honor of Marjane Satrapi, one of THE great graphic novelists. Her comic Persepolis was a crucial text for shaping my belief that comics can deeply explore identity, culture, politics, and history.
I thought this was going to be a run-of-the-mill crime procedural with an interesting but underdeveloped AI side plot, but instead I found a gripping serialised thriller about the dangers of mass surveillance, the corruption of the government, and three of the best characters i have ever seen on tv
I'm having so much fun with my spin on Zorro xD love drawing him and Tornado. Sketched most of these in stream last night.
