like pt 2 is interesting if we’re considering margaret to be the complex human being she is... thats why the marglesbian fans (like me) can get something out of it bc w the gay goggles on its FASCINATING the way she reinforces her own cycle of men who wont/cant commit to her and this thing of wanting to be loved and be emotionally vulnerable while simultaneously trying to be a perfect version of a perfect woman/wife/soldier and trying to mold hawkeye in that same image (even tho weve spent an entire episode previous to this showing over and over that hes not going to) and doing this very performative over the top feminine affection thing like its something she 'should' be doing to show how she 'should' be feeling rather than more realistically what she WANTS to do based on how she REALLY feels. she tells us 'i can adjust to anything'. but any viewers going into it thinking margaret is just an annoying shrill clingy woman can dismiss it as being an annoying shrill clingy margaret episode if they want. maybe thats where it fails, like its making margaret do too much so it can easily tip over into that one dimensional territory. losing her composure in the OR, screeching at hawk when they could be in danger of being caught, 'ill have you in tow soon'... like.... would margaret really do that? the margaret we know?? its like a flattening of her character in service of expanding it, kind of... maybe....
