Cons of having a spider in my shower:

Gives me the willies

Won't stay out of sight

Won't stay in one place

Won't stay in a SAFE place

Climbs on my stuff

Wants to dangle right above the drain for some ill-conceived spider reason or possibly no reason at all

- but lo and behold, THIS was the stimulus it needed to get up off its ass and prove that my efforts were not in vain. Not being tweezed off the bottom of the bathtub, not being dried off and shaken around in a jar. All it needed was a little bit of dirt like fucking Spider Antaeus.

Off it walked, pretty as you please, in all likelihood having learned NOTHING.

Infuriating creature.

Unremarkable ground spiders, first described by Baltic-German arachnologist Eugen von Keyserling in 1891. Keyserling was the author of Die Spinnen Amerikas, and completed Die Arachniden Australiens for German arachnologist Ludwig Carl Christian Koch after he went blind.

As of last year, there's 28 species in the genus, mostly found on southern continents. Barring Antarctica, of course - there's no way these things could take down a penguin.
