Gymcastic did a very good interview with Aly Raisman. You can listen to it at their website. Few things Ay said in that interview.
She had a conversation with Tom Foster and Kerry Perry at nationals and she was very upset with Kerry because she has no idea whatâs going on and she has no confidence in her. And she also told Tom do give all the girls her telephone number.
She is upset because if she goes to the store or at the street stangers stop her and thank her for standing for survivors all the time but in gymnastics community she feels unwelcome or wrong for speaking up.
Aly talks about Mattie Larson how she almost moved to Massachusetts to train at Brestians but as almost all coaches out of respect Mihai asked Arthur (her old coach) for premission and Arthur said no.
She want coaches who talk why are the survivors coming forward, why now and itâs attack on Usag she answered that every person cope with this differently and some people may feel comfortable coming forward tomorrow, some in 10 years and some never. And if someones experience (at ranch) may be different that doesnât gove you the right to shame and call people spoiled because thatâs create the culture where more and more people are afraid to speak up.
She said she came forward as survivor the same time her book came out is because she wanted to have control whatâs writen because a lot of time the media disqutoe them and she didnât want that.
Few days after she came forward she was supposed to do an interview with NBC but that interview was canceled. She doesnât know if usag or nbc cancelled it.
She thinks anyone who knew about Nassar and didnât go to law enforcement should be dismissed
She was at photoshot few days ago in 3 younger girls and they said to her to high five and hug the younger girls but she refused to hug them because she tought itâs weird and and she didnât want to make the little girl hug her because they are telling her (little girl) to hug aly and she doesnât know if this makes them feel uncomfortable. And she thinks they have to teach little kids if adult wants to hug they donât have to do it.
Talking about Martha and camps she was terrified about not doing well at competitions because she knew if you mess up you probably wont come back (and than talks about Mattie Larson situation from 2010)
She had to do Amanar at camp every single day and she had so much anxiety because sometimes she was tired, her legs hurt or she was jetlagged but she knew she will have to do Amanar. And you had to have it Marthas way or you were out.
One time at vertification for bars she was first on bars and had a fall and after her every girl fell expect for one and Martha blamed Aly for all the falls because she set bad example for others and she sould be more mature and as a team captain she should know better.
She was terrified of her and was so scared to tell her she was tired.
One day Simone asked for day off because they were so tired and Martha was not having that conversation.
If they had morning off and than at night practice if they messed up Martha blamed them they messed up because they had their mornings off. And the girls was wondering if it was even worth it to ask for half day off because that put so much more pressure on them for night practice.
Even of they had a day off they just laid in bed and didnât know what to do.
At camp before rio they were told it will be beetween her and Laurie for 3rd aa spot and it was that awful felling and it was so much pressure. But they put so much pressure on them at training which was not healthy that why they did so good at competition. And thereâs need to be a better balance because you shouldnât have anxiety and have stomach pain going to practice every day.
Her nutritionist gave her some powder for recovering and she tought how they donât have anyone at usag to ask if thatâs ok for them to eat but thank god her mum checked if it was ok for her to eat everytime someone gave her something (like ok to eat that doesnât have doping I guess) and her mum said usag was trying to offer this to girls without doing a blood panel and you canât determine whatâs missing if you donât do blood panel. And itâs scary to just take whatever someone offer to you but her mum always checked for her.
Even sometimes they called Usada they said they canât help them because if they messed up and something happens to you they donât want to be reasonable.
One day before camp she was feeling sick and was throwing up all night and she missed first day of camp and came a day later. She didnât eat almost nothing just few nuts. But when she came to camp everyone was like wow you look so good and skinny. Try to stay that way. And she still had to do her Amanar next day.
One time from 2012 team they did an sponsored event for usag sponsor at that timeand they offered to pay them all the same money but they need to bump it up to this price for them to do it. And the sponsor said well this IS the price we are offered. And then they found out Steve Penny cut the money in half and usag came to them and said sponsor offer that money.
