I love them all, so it’s close. I’d probably go with Scavenger overall, and Mixmaster for design

Like you can have that psych horror angle to it but I feel like becoming unrecognizable in the process is a whole nother level of it. It's such a visceral representation of the loss of control. Why does no one talk about that

And then going back to normal after everything. I think that would be worse in some ways. Even if you have scars they might not show up in your root or alt mode.

I don't actually think combining has to be horrible mentally, I think some gestalts/gestalt members would like it. But if you're already prone to hating it, or you got hurt while combined, that physical aftertaste of it would be so much worse than the sensation of being combined. Whatever negative feelings your character has about combining—the loss of control, being used by their combiner, being used as a weapon, hearing their gestalt's thoughts, having their gestalt hear their thoughts—all those feelings would stick to them afterwards as long as those physical feelings linger.

But I also think the flip side of that coin is, it's another reason for gestalts to end up isolating from other transformers. Transformers can all turn into other things. I bet a lot of them think it isn't that bad to turn into an arm every now and then. Gestalts might form close bonds as a reaction to people acting like they get it, when... They don't, and they don't try to understand it.
