Ep 11: Signal After several investigations into a small town in the Japanese countryside go missing, anamalous task force STORAGE is summoned to investigate the area with Cadet and Ultra-Human Dia in tow. When they arrive, the townspeople attempt to redirect the team away from the town and the investigations, and when that fails, become hostile. STORAGE retreats and observes from town from afar, where they see the townspeople converge on the town square wearing multicolored, multi-eyed masks. As the town filters out and down the road, STORAGE splits between following the townspeople and investigating the town. Dia, following the townspeople, soon finds herself and her team at the local TV town, which is surrounded by shrines covered in eyes. In the town, the second team witnesses a signal overtake all electronic devices, eyes opening on the screen. Here, the signal is easily filtered out by the STORAGE anomaly filters, but, closer to the source, the first team isn't so lucky. Dia, due to her nonhuman biology, is the only member of the team not overtaken by the signal. She is forced to flee towards the tower, the signal getting louder and louder as she nears. Without options, she transforms into ULTRA DIA, and easily defends herself from the mob of townspeople and STORAGE members. Sensing it is in danger, the TV Tower increases its signal, and the humans in the area collapse. Dia is unable to worry for their safety for long as the ground rumbles and the TV Tower rips itself out of the ground, a huge multicolored body made of light and signal fizzling into view as it rises, eyes opening all along its body. Inspired by a scene in Shin UIltraman, here's Ultrawoman Dia transforming in dramatic fashion!! Really happy with this piece, I probably could have exaggerated the rim lighting more ala the original scene, but I wanted Dia to still be visible. I've been experimenting a lot with real backgrounds and lighting and dynamic poses the past year, and I think it's really been paying off lately!

charseraph and I collaborated on a couple of OCs in their science fiction universe, a Tower and a Human. They drew the lovely art of course while we worked together on the lore and design. Far Away(they/them) suffers from deeply held anxiety and paranoia due to a predator attack in their youth and their distance from other Towers. They lead a lonely, stressful life jumping at shadows when a group of human explorers, Research Team "Hollywood Ogre", practically stumble upon them deep in a biome not commonly inhabited by towers due to the cold climate and thick forests. They slowly establish communications with the nervous wreck that is Far Away, and through this they meet Maria(They/She), a tiny data technician and backup translator who is a night owl workaholic who doesn't get good sleep at the best of times. Maria has her own history of anxiety and bipolar disorder, and liked to spend nights after everyone else has gone to sleep talking to Far Away and sharing their experiences. Through this bond Far Away makes their first real friend and feels safe enough to fall asleep naturally, with Maria comfortably by their side. Research Team Hollywood Ogre soon develops into a research outpost, both to keep Far Away company and to learn from someone who has firsthand experience with this poorly understood biome. They start with relieving Far Away's claustrophobia by cutting out the forest into a clearing around the tower. This Research Post, 'Far Far Away' eventually becomes a hub for support for Towers and Humans who have their own mental health issues across the planet. Far Away and Maria may never fully recover, but they have come a long way, and that's good too.
