THE WAY WE HAVENT HEARD ROMANTIC SUNDAY IN A WHILE SO HEARING IT AGAIN IN THE LAST SCENE REALLY MADE ME BREAKDOWN INTO TEARS WHAT THE FUCKFJEN
the name of this ost?!?!?!&*#@(())' šāš»
hometown cha cha cha (2021)
written this on twitter but of course. writing again on this blog is like a ritual. letās go.Ā
one of the things i love and will definitely miss from this drama is how it highlights the love between people. not just the romance kind of love. i get so used to romance that these kind of love feel somehow warmer. something iāll hold dearly for a long time.
the silent love language of fathers. the way they would turn the earth upside down but still wont say it right to their daughters.Ā āof course i wont let her get the braces! it involevs taking four of her healthy teeth. four!!!ā throwing posters and merchandises away yet his tired back was ready to take his daughter see someone who made her smile so much.Ā āhe doesnāt even know the weather in our place but he knows how cloudy itās gonna be in rural areas. in your place.āĀ āwe went through stores because he needed to find the best plant for your clinic.ā
the awkward love from daughters to their fathers. how daughters could feel the same (or even bigger) love, pride, and gratitute to their fathers, spoken through a different language.Ā āif he decides to date, of course i would support him! you know itās sad. seeing him live his entire life missing someone whoās no longer here.ā how we feel the love out of every scolding and action, yet this mouth is more often than not, too heavy to mutter i love yous and thank yous.
the love from one mother to another.Ā āof course we know sheās annoying. of course we get sick of her talking all the time. but sheās herself after we donāt see her for an entire year. even if her words bite our ears off, weāre glad. sheās herself. sheās happy. sheās here.ā acknowledging how the pain of losing a chilld is so tremendously agonizing that youād rather hear your divorce causes be talked about during gathering rather than see someone gets stuck and live their life around that event, that memory and that pain only.
the slight adoration and pride to boost someoneās ego and confidence.Ā āno thatās not fair. you cannot join in the competition. youāre The Singer of our village!!ā each one of us climb different stairs to our dreams. the least we could do is help some of us to realize that itās okay. it takes a lot of strength to give up on a dream. yes theyāre not at the top. but we can still acknowledge their efforts and how far theyāve come.Ā
the flowing (oftentimes painful) love from mother to their children and their grandchildren.Ā āmy son works in the big city! heās very succesful. even my granddaughter studies overseas.ā how mothers donāt have the heart to say they miss their children because theyāre scared their feeling (which is very innocent) could disturb whatever it is their children is doing. how mothers would scold their children and boast them in the same sentence. you could break their heart a thousand times and the love for you will never stop.
the love in admiration from one woman to another.Ā āi envy you, doctor. you have a prestigious job. people respect you and how you work hard for that title.ā andĀ āi envy you for being a good mother. youāre raising your daughter well while working and now youāre even expecting.ā being, existing as a woman sometimes feel tough. and they acknowledge this hy holding each otherās hand and lifting each other up. iām here for you and i will help you the way you would do the same for me.Ā
OKAY BUT THE MISEON WINNING LOTTERY SCENE girl i ā

i really love how balanced the rom and com are in this series. like i would be swooning over sikhye and cackling over them too in the same scene 10 seconds apart
i didn't properly cry until the moment du sik started to read the letter from gamri halmeoni and it went,
"dusik, you should eat. no matter how hard life gets, one should still eat"
CRYING SOBBING THROWING UP
Iāll be at the front of the boat making sure you have a clear path. The sea wonāt always be this gentle though. We will be met with wind and waves. And even typhoons will come our way. So what if we get soaked in rain? Who cares if the wind blows a bite when weāre in the same boat?
I don't think it was sudden for heejin to ask dusik about his past, like she wants to talk about their future, and she is well within her rights despite the time they've been a couple cos they're not young...they're mid 30s it makes sense that the guy youre with will be your partner for life right?? esp such a good guy like dusik.
but everytime she brings up their future or just, to her, a simple question as to what happened in Seoul he avoids it. and as someone who overthinks alot and it quite self conscious about how her significant other views her due to her ex....it's expected she'll be upset over him not answering.
they agreed and promised no secrets, and he is keeping secrets and that's hurtful to heejin...he's seen her past, why can't she see his?
also let's not forget dusik never allowed her to see the side where he was hurting when they were friends, she's always seen him happy besides that time he got drunk and cried. however, his behaviour changed significantly after meeting that dude in Seoul but she's not realised that yet...with her own overthinking she believed it to be the necklace...like to a normal person with no insight you wouldn't think seeing an old senior from uni affect a person that much
we as an audience know how much dusik is suffering from whatever happened because we've been allowed to see it to an extent and understand his inability to speak about it....heejin doesn't know about his reoccurring nightmares and how he has to go to a therapist etc....she's in the dark.
so with all that thrown together...no I don't think it's fair to criticise heejin, who has her own traumas and self esteem issues, asking dusik for answers about himself and to say he's changing.
what criticism I do have of episode 13 is how the fuck did heejin deliver a baby without a speck of blood on her...her hair and make up in tact...her clothes still fresh and pretty...also her bedsheets still being clean??? like that's the one thing that takes away the realism....also like who tf goes to sleep after delivering a baby all dressed up in a damn pencil skirt/dress???
THISSSS. They should have at least brought a doctor in the scene. It was clear and sunny the next morning no excuse āš»

So, it seems like some of the criticism of Hye Jin this episode is that sheās expecting too much of Du Shik when itās still very early in their relationship. And like, I just donāt get that idea. Sure, Hye Jin is talking about things like imagining that she could be family with Du Shik, but itās not like Du Shik also isnāt saying some pretty deep things in regards to their relationship. He was the one who said I love you first. He was the one who called her the love of his life. Hye Jin also set clear boundaries pretty early on that she didnāt want their to be any secrets or lies between them and Du Shik agreed to that. So, like, why is Hye Jin being the unrealistic one right now in this relationship? I get the fact that Du Shik has trauma that he hasnāt completely worked through, but Hye Jin has trauma too that Iām sure she hasnāt completely worked through either. So, why is Hye Jin getting criticism over wanting Du Shik to be honest with her?Ā

Hometown Cha Cha Cha Ep10, An Analysis
Hye-jinās Realization in the RainĀ
Well, well, well - Iām back with another analysis post, but this time for everyoneāsĀ ātherapyā show (mine included), Hometown Cha Cha Cha.Ā
Iāve been wanting to write an analysis for this show for quite a while now but Iāve just been enjoying it too much to really post much of anything - also, everyone else was doing their own analyzing and doing it better probably than I ever could. Anything I wanted to say seemed redundant.Ā
But no more. I really, really want to talk about this scene because it solidifies why Hometown Cha Cha Cha is setting a whole new bar for romantic kdramas. This episode was sheer perfection - which is saying something because every episode before was also utterly perfect - and I donāt blame anyone for not being able to choose which scene was their favorite. But, for me, itās this one; Hye-jin coming to the realization of her feelings for Hong Du-sik.Ā
For me, itās the best scene in any romantic kdrama Iāve seen since Do-hyeokās confession in Nevertheless. And itās not even a confession.Ā
I think everyoneās watched this episode by now (Iāve watched and re-watched it myself maybe a dozen times since it came out) but Iām going to go ahead and warn of SPOILERS incoming. Read at your own risk, if you havenāt watched it yet.Ā
