But based solely on the TV show, I think that it could be academic rivalry or something like that. We know that they went to the same high school, so maybe she took his spot at something/won over him in something important to him. I have a theory that his parents are strict about everything he does and want perfection from him so Summer could have taken away the thing or the prestige that he wanted to show his parents

And I guess Dean's family is close - Hunter could be envious of that too because his family is not
