tempted

“lucifer was right about you, you really are the nicest   —  don’t tell him i told you this, but he’s very fond of you.” and so was eve, despite knowing each other for such a short time. maybe it had started as trying to get along with lucifer’s friends for his sake, but eve genuinely liked ella. “why do you still think it’s a metaphor? surely you’ve seen enough weird things happen around him to at least believe a little bit.”

“i have done nothing wrong ever in my life  —  well, you know... other than eating the apple, original sin and all that.” she cocks her head, a small laugh escaping her. “please, he wasn’t as good as everyone likes to think.”

“wanna know what i think? i think you're better than you give yourself credit for. you do a lot of good and you don’t even do it for recognition, you do it because it’s right  — i think we did get it wrong.·

“i guess.” she pouts at him. “well, maybe heaven was my punishment, have you thought about that, luce? okay, hear me out.” eve uses her fingers to count down her reasons. “okay, a husband i did not love. my sons taken from me, missing all the wonderful things the modern world has to offer, no driking, no FUN. forced to be the good, compliant wife  —  does that sound like me?”

“just me and my beer and the terrible fear that I might be losing it.”

their relationship has been everything except quiet. she can’t complain, that’s exactly what she was looking for when she left the silver city. fun, excitement, adventure. but she was also looking for him. despite being created for adam, lucifer was eve’s first love. the first to ask what she wanted. nothing else mattered. “yeah. it’s different... good different. i could get used to this.”

“i hate that it seemed you were never enough. and I hate that your heart was the casualty  —  now I hate that I need you.”
