i was fussy last night so Daddy diapered me, read me doctor stories and put me in bed D:

-Identify where the tail bone is and avoid it at all costs. Understand that this shifts a lot when people are in different positions. (I have personally fucked this up in the past, fortunately not in a dangerous way, but it’s something to be really careful about). Spanking too low (on the thighs) hurts more, but spanking too high can be legit dangerous. -Avoid wrapping. If you use a leather implement, it can wrap around the body. This can hit the hip bones, and you always want to avoid hitting any kind of bone. If you’re using a cane and you extend the tip past the end of the bottom, the tip can break off, which can break skin and possibly cause splintering. -The easiest position to have accuracy for harder to use implements like belts, straps, canes et cetera is to have the spankee laying prone with a pillow under their stomach propping them up. This is a lot less atmospheric than a lot of other positions but it’s the easiest way to get accurate strokes: you just have to go straight down from over your shoulder. -A riding crop is designed to have the leather bit at the end be the striking surface, not the cane part. If you really want to use it as a cane, make sure that the leather bit is landing directly on the bottom and not wrapping around. I’ve had inexperienced spankers break skin this way.-Don’t use implements which don’t have smooth edges or that are likely to break. Don’t continue to use implements that are already broken or cracked. Even if you’re okay with broken skin, it’s really important to avoid getting bits of something broken in said skin break.-Negotiate your scenes beforehand and know your partner’s limits, even if this conversation is very casual. Don’t wait for something to go wrong to talk about stuff that you don’t like. -Learn your partner’s reactions to pain and judge the intensity based on that, not on the visual feedback you get from any instant marking that occurs. The easiest thing to do when you’re first playing with someone is to ask them where they are on a scale of 1-10. It feels clinical but gives you good feedback. Ask if they have any “tells” that things are getting hard for them. These are the tips I can think of for right now! Let me know if there are specific aspects of spanking you’d like more advice about!
