This song matches pretty closely with the first chapter of my fanfiction with Anakin being frozen, listening to the Force complain that this story wasn't what it wanted it to be. It also gets across the rancid fear vibes going on in that first chapter. That idea that you are trapped, that you're going to die and you can see where you're going to die, all because some force stronger than you thought it all might be perfect. I have daydreamed that first scene with this song sooooo many times!
Arsonist's Lullaby - Hozier
I think this song is a good representation of how Anakin and more especially Mav feels about the Force. You might not be able to fully control it or get rid of it, but you can keep it on a leash. Mav is very wary of how and when she uses the Force and keeps an eye on the other Force users in the clan, fearful that the Force will choose them as it's next chewtoy. It's all about being wary about something that is a part of you. Which is also a reflection of how Anakin feels about who he was as a person before being shoved back through time and stripped of the Force. This song also ties closely with things going on in the climax of the story, but let's not talk about that right now >:3
These Hands - Frankenstein Musical
This song, first of all, is incredible. I love love love belting it in the shower or the car. I have a great time :3
This one is pretty clearly a song for Anakin and how he feels about himself and the fact that he almost went and killed all of those younglings, and the fact that he did kill innocent people before that point. He can't tell how much of it was him and how much of it was the Force (his hands).
Through Heavens Eyes - Prince of Egypt
This song is for the way Anakin was accepted into the Trakajii clan, mostly. Getting to join a big family where he is loved and cared for unconditionally with people who make sure he doesn't do anything that might harm him in more than just the physical way? Beautiful!
Of course we have a song for the sad boy hours. This is for every time that Anakin mourns his wife and unborn child, every time he thinks about Obi-wan, every time he misses each and every one of the clones who he will never see again and who will never exist if he has anything to say about it. This is mourning his mother because the woman in this timeline hasn't even given birth. Everything.
Things we Lost in the Fire - Bastille
This is pretty similar to the one above, but perhaps with more of a focus on the clones.
Look, I just really like this song and I want it on every playlist. I think that this one really hits the vibe of the depression Anakin sometimes finds himself stuck in here.
There are a few scenes where Anakin lays awake at night, thinking through things and just feeling generally haunted, and this song feels correct to pair with those moments.
Cosmic Castaway - Titan AE
If this fanfiction were a movie, this would probably be the song behind the training montage Anakin has with the Mandalorians. And/or any good action scene involving the fighting of traffickers and pirates. Or an epic traveling song. Could go anywhere. I love this song
I'm Just a Kid - Simple Plan
This song is here for Obi-wan, bless he littol heart. The Force decided to really give him a bad time since it lost Anakin and this song is an ode to everything that has gone wrong for him in his 12-13 years of life in this galaxy.
This one is for Anakin's emotions upon having a child form of his brother/parent in the camp. This is a very rough time to be Anakin emotionally.
Man, something about kind of losing it and pushing too hard and almost ending up in a early grave. That's just Anakin, what can I say?
I think this one lines up with the part of the story where some Jedi become involved because Obi-wan has become involved. Anakin remembering the Order, how he couldn't seem to fit in and how he was always being told he was too loud emotionally and too violent and he knew no one never really approved of him being there in the first place. AUGH! I love. I will be writing a short story about one of his attempts to fit in with the other padawans his age. I'm very excited about that.
This song is the sadness and melancholy from the previous song turning into rage. He is going to be screaming things at Qui-Gon and Dooku that neither of them are ever going to be able to understand. Which make Anakin angrier because he's mad at things that haven't even happened except for in his own memories. How's a man supposed to get catharsis in a situation like this?
We heading right back into Anakin having a lot of emotions about things that don't exist anymore and trying to get a hold of himself and his anger before he hurts his new family with it.
Need to Calm Down - Daniel Thrasher
Honestly, what it says on the label. My mans needs to calm down :3
One more song about Anakin trying to get over his anger at the Jedi and Obi-wan, recognizing that his Obi-wan, the one from the past, probably had to deal with similar things based on what Anakin could remember and seeing everything in a new light, and having to decide how he is going to conduct himself in light of that.
All This and Heaven Too - Florence + the Machine
This is maybe a song to really grieve these things he can't understand or fully express and coming to terms with the fact that Obi-wan, Qui-gon, and Dooku are not the people he knew and that it's time to move on a little.
I really like this song :3 This feels like something Anakin would think through a lot. This just is his mental state for a large part of the fic on repeat.
Who Are You Really? - Mikky Ekko
Always fun trying to figure out who you are supposed to be when so much of you was stripped away along with the Force. And also trying to understand who Obi-wan, Qui-Gon, Dooku, and even Jango Fett are in this time before he was even born and before they experienced most of the things they were set to experience.
EEEE this song! Anakin, if you didn't know, gets adopted by two women who are married. (One is a lesbian, the other is bi) so this song is about his relationship with parental figures that are there in his life and aren't going anywhere and who won't be taken away and want the best for him, and want him to be the best he can be at the moment. I love themb.
I love this song so much, side note. This just felt like a good wrap up for the playlist. It talks about past things that are gone with this feeling of acceptance, like grief mostly dealt with except for in those nostalgic places in the soul.
Mind you, this playlist isn't necessarily complete. As I go, I might add more to it, especially when I reach the climax. Or maybe I'll have a separate mini playlist for the climax. There's gonna be a lot going on there. We'll see what I actually do because building playlists and things for my stories isn't the most natural thing for me. Still, I've had a great time :3
