I am mourning the absence of warmth
I stood in the soothing rays of hope
I wafted gently down the river of peace
For the first time, I taste the sweet honey of contentment
I felt hope, joy, and peace. Unjaded. I welcomed them as friends with open arms. I worked hard to stay in the moment with my new friends. Iâd never truly let them in the house before. No, sometimes I sat with them on the porch. If I was brave, Iâd let them spend some time in the backyard with me. This time I let them in, even with the possibility of our time being short and then leaving me before I was ready.
I know theyâll be back again. I know Iâll stand in the sun again. I will try not to begrudge the clouds. Itâs not their fault. And without them, I wouldnât know just how warm the sun can be.
