Fade Scars for Under $20
So scars are something a lot of us are self conscious about. Whether theyâre from acne, surgery, or accidents, they can draw unwanted attention and questions. Unfortunately, a lot of scar creams and treatments can be expensive. I thought Iâd make a list of products/ingredients that are proven to fade scars, without the big price tag. These are products that have helped me, and I hope they help you!Â
(Okay, the title says under $20 but these are Amazon links for convenience and the prices on there change all the time, so if one is not technically under $20, I apologise).
Vitamin CÂ
Vitamin C is amazing for scars. Itâs a powerful antioxidant, promotes collagen production, protects from sun damage, and evens out pigmentation. Personally, I have visible results from using vitamin c on scars. For use, I recommend a concentrated Vitamin C serum, like this one.Â
Rosehip Oil
Rosehip oil is another life saver when it comes to scars. It is rich in fatty acids, which improve the texture and quality of skin, which increases elasticity. This helps scars flatten and fade to a normal colour. Donât be tricked into buying expensive rosehip oil, you can get really good quality stuff at a great price here.
Silicone Sheets
Silicone sheets are highly recommend to treat scars, especially raised ones. Theyâre very popular for c-section scars. The idea is that you cut out a silicone patch the size/shape of your scar, and leave it on for long periods of time. Silicone sheets have been shown to drastically reduce the colour and texture of scars, and even the height in raised ones. The downside is that the silicone sheet can be annoying. Nonetheless, itâs a great option for raised scars. Here are some silicone sheets you can get for a really good price.Â
Silicone Gel
Silicone gel is a great alternative to silicone sheets, especially if your scar is on a visible place like your face and you want to apply sunscreen, etc., over the top. Silicone gels go for a huge range of prices, but this is a 100% silicone gel that wonât break the bank.Â
Since it will take at least 3 years for this scene to get animated I did this screen myself ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ

Why did I even come back on this website
think twice before trustingâhoe tipâ and âglo upâ posts!
Listen, Iâm not calling out all of these posts, because some have amazing tips⌠But some have absolutely APPALLING skincare advice. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when reading those posts:
Donât use lemon on your face! Itâs irritating and makes your skin photosensitive.
Donât use bicarb soda on your face! It ruins the pH of your skin, which is there to protect it from bacteria.
If you want to use Apple Cider Vinegar, please for the love of god dilute it a LOT
Witch hazel can seriously dry out your skin.
Essential oils like tea tree oil need to be diluted.
Donât use things like salt, sugar, etc. to exfoliate your face. Donât use anything natural to exfoliate your face. Itâs harsh and causes micro-tears in your skin, which causes a lot of damage in the long run.
On that note, do NOT use the St Ives Apricot Scrub, there is a literal lawsuit because of how bad it is. I donât care if itâs helping your skin now, there are alternatives in the same price range that wonât cause long-term damage.
You have to moisturise. Even if you have oily skin. If you donât, your skin will over-compensate with MORE oil. There are oil-free moisturises at every price point, guys.
A lot of products from Lush are very harsh. So be careful and check the ingredients.
A lot of people will make these posts and tell you their magical âcuresâ that helped their acne, and act like other people are idiots for using other things. Thatâs also bullshit, because everyone is different and will have different things work for them.
Coconut oil clogs pores, be careful.
Coconut oil may also make your hair brittle and dry, do your research before using it to make sure itâs appropriate for your hair type.
Cinnamon and other spices may burn your skin. You probably shouldnât use them. But, they may not, so if you want to try them, make sure you patch test to make sure it doesnât burn you.
Turmeric is good for your skin, but make sure you use good quality stuff. Some of it is dyed, which will in turn dye your skin. And nobody wants a bright yellow face.
When using any oil (coconut, olive, rosehip, etc) and things like honey, make sure itâs 100% pure, raw, and as unrefined as possible.
A lot of the tips are usually for the OPâs skin type. You probably have completely different skin. Remember that.
Okay thatâs all I can think of right now. I love the girls who make these posts - like I said, they usually have a lot of great tips - but we need to remember that there is a lot of misleading information parading as scientific fact on the internet.
Just as printers can sense fear and deadlines, acne can sense fear and special occasions.
