every so often i remember how awesome the modern interconnected multicultural world is. i grew up getting to hear fairy tales from all over the world. africa, asia, europe, america. everywhere in between. i can have bagels for breakfast, curry for lunch, and ramen for dinner without even leaving the city limits. music and art and philosophy and technology that originated thousands of miles and years apart from eachother have come together and interwoven into something greater than the sum of its parts. its hard not fall into despair when thinking about the horrors but god. god the wonders.

some people are very quick to make fun of the way certain medias are celebrated by right wing men online. movies like fight club, american psycho, the matrix - penned by a gay man, directed by a woman, and created by two transgender women. how could these so called "red-pilled" incel alpha males misinterpret the various messages of the movies? but these guys aren't stupid or incapable of understanding a movie. a work can have more than one perspective, and include contradictions. what tropes, messages, aesthetics, and faces do these films use that appeal to "angry white men" specifically? how do these films depict racialized people and women? it's important to recognize what these deconstructions include in their portrayal of fascist regimes, masculinity, and capitalism that drawsdifferent audiences in. an inability to do so can lead to seeing something that upholds these ideas enthusiastically and still pointing and laughing at right-wing men for engaging with it and saying they're missing the point.
