Lessons in Kidnapping
softboi-malfoyâ:
Lucius took a single step back when Ansonâs behavior escalated. He hated confrontations and raised voices. Even the fact that there were bars between them was little deterrent.Â
âYes, the kidnapping is unfortunate, but unavoidable at the moment,â he said stiffly. At the mention of being a fan, though, Luciusâ expression shifted to surprise. âI- I assumed that you recognized me, Mr. Wood. Iâm Lucius Malfoy, and Iâm afraid the Dark Lord does not have need for autographs.â
Ansonâs memory would be thoroughly wiped before he left, so Lucius saw no need to bother with the stuffy masks, or other such lies.Â
âThis house has been warded by generations of the greatest wix ever born,â Lucius continued. âYou are free to attempt such magic or trickery, but it will do you no good.â Lucius would know; heâd done his fair share of escape attempts as a child, before he learned that running was more dangerous than staying and keeping his head down.Â
Lucius watched curiously as Ansonâs attention was drawn to Athena, who tripped over immediately to make a new friend, her jeweled collar glinting in the dim light. She was purring loudly enough that Lucius could hear it, and small as she was she slipped easily through the bars to rub against Ansonâs hand. Lucius sighed.Â
This really was going to be such a bother, wasnât it? But if cats would keep Anson entertained, that was one useful thing learned, at least.Â
His jaw dropped and the realization that this mess was deeper than he thought began to settle. âWhat does the Dark Lord want with me?â But he had a idea, it had to be something with Blair. A lot of messes always began and ended with Blair, even now.Â
That was the one thing that always had Anson ready to roll his eyes. The elite always assumed their money could buy their magic. âWealth doesnât always equal power. Iâve always heard that the Malfoys throw out a dud or two every few generations.â His gaze flicked dismissively over Lucius. âI guess depending on how long Iâm here Iâll find out if that is true.âÂ
Anson wasnât a confrontational person but being kidnapped by some loon was enough to change that. He was positive Kingsley would find him in the next day or two and in the span of those two days he wasnât going to be a meek and compliant prisoner. Quite the opposite.Â
He petted the lovely cat for a second before gentle scooping her up and turning back to Malfoy. âI believe this is called a hostage.âÂ
