All men are at least 30% attracted to me

Malcolm was overwhelmed with how much his life had changed in the short year. Only about a year ago did he reunite with Diana and months later wedded her. Already they had a daughter who was arguably the most beautiful child in England and Malcolm couldn’t be happier. The news of having another child only made his face lighten up and his smile broadly stretch. “Time is not important as long as you are happy. And yes, Oh, I hiI do remember that so then it works out perfectly. Of course, I will be there for you.” Malcolm raised her hand and pressed a kiss to it. He looked back at Daphne who looked perfect and could already imagine having another child. Malcolm wanted to have the best nanny and caregiver and healers just so everything can go smoothly. If Diana requested she needed anything, Malcolm wanted to have that ready for her. “Of course she can come. It only makes sense to be there with us every step to find out about her brother…or sister. I sincerely hope it is a boy but I will be happy no matter what.”

“You’re the best husband, thank you cherié.” Diana was thankful to have Malcolm by her side, being so supportive. She knew how lucky she was. She married the love of her life, they had a lovely daughter and they would soon expand their family. “Oh I hope it will be a boy, wouldn’t that be wonderful?” Giving Malcolm an heir was what she had wanted, a girl and a boy, it would be perfect. The way to the hospital didn’t take long and luckily they hadn’t had to wait in that drab waiting room either, having someone escort them to the examination room right away. The lighting in that waiting room was horrible so she’d make sure they wouldn’t spend much time there. Besides, she didn’t want to take any risks with the sick people running around St. Mungos. 

After finishing her examination her healer turned to Diana and Malcolm, smile on her lips. “I have great news. You’re expecting twins. A boy and a girl.” Diana gasped in shock, needing a moment to process it. It was good news, they’d be having a boy like they wanted. And another girl. She looked over at Malcolm, wanting to see his reaction. 

“She looks like a princess like always,” Malcolm admired sweetly, thankful for the distraction and especially on a weekend. At least he was able to work from home more than normal to be closer to his new family. Malcolm brushed the little hair that Daphne was beginning to sprout when his eyes turned to Diana. The words came out fast and without caution and Malcolm could feel his heart swell at the news. “That’s-that’s amazing, of course I will join you.” They did discuss having more children after Daphne but it had not been that long ago. Malcolm’s hands cupped Diana’s face and kissed her lightly on the cheek. “This is good for us. Is there anything you need?”

“She definitely does.” Diana smiled proudly, sometimes it was hard to believe that they had made this beautiful little girl, but she couldn’t be happier about it. Daphne was wonderful in every aspect. Some people said they’d been lucky with her, but she didn’t doubt that their other child would be less amazing. Hopefully they would have a boy next, she knew how happy that would make him. She hadn’t had any doubts about him saying no or not wanting to come with her, but by the look in his eyes she could tell how happy it made him and that made her smile widen even more. “It is great. A bit sooner than we have planned, but I do prefer sooner rather than later. We talked about them growing up close in age, so this will be perfect. I just need you there, that’s all.” Him holding her hand was all she needed. “I think we can take Daphne with us. It will be nice for her to find out alongside of us.” She didn’t care that Daphne was too young to understand, she was a genius in Diana’s eyes.

The war was dampening the curve of his business and other investments, but Malcolm was still making the effort to see new clients. It was the weekend but he was browsing the paperwork over his desk, hoping to find an answer or something easier for the rest of the year. When he heard a knock on the door and Diana came in with Daphne, he was happy for the distraction. “There’s my two gorgeous girls,” Malcolm said, raising from his desk chair and kissing Daphne before kissing Diana. “Is this a new dress?”

“It is! Doesn’t she look stunning?” Diana smiled, pleased that he noticed that the dress was new. It suited their daughter wonderfully, highlighting her eyes especially. Even though he was home more frequently now, she did miss him when he was working, but didn’t want to distract him too much during those hours. “There is actually something I wanted to tell you. I have a healer appointment later and wanted you to join me. I think I’m pregnant.” She wasn’t sure, that is why she wanted a professional giving a definitive answer.

It had only been a few months ago that Malcolm had allowed Diana to help him with a meeting with the French embassy. It had prodded help in a way that Malcolm didn’t understand before and the French seemed to like and understand her. Finance never seemed an interest for Diana unless she was the one spending it it seemed and Malcolm trusted her with anything and she had proven herself well. He knew that his French was incoherent and would need to provide more attention, especially if they were meant to go to France soon. “I will take you anywhere you want to go, just let me know and I can clear my schedule. Your happiness is important to me and I know France is important to you. I have a few opinions of the French myself, but you contradict all of them.”

“I don’t not like him, but he is important to me,” Malcolm expressed slowly, acknowledging that Diana didn’t care for Lucius either. He was a good ally when he could be useful but other than that, Malcolm intentionally distanced himself. “I-Fredrick? Are you sure?” Malcolm only wanted to make sure so he could fire someone for staring at his wife’s legs. That’s Thomas, but I do see what you mean. Not everyone has an eye for beauty, it’s quite sad.” Malcolm smiled into the juncture of Diana’s neck, happy to have a daughter of their own, but the possibility of more only made him in a blissful state. “Soon. Perhaps we can try in the spring. But as soon as you feel up to it, we can have fun without trying for a child.” Malcolm didn’t have any expectations for when they would be in bed again together, only respecting whatever Diana felt like doing.

“Perhaps we can go somewhere in time for your birthday, just the two of us. I think it would be nice. Just a few days so we do not miss Daphne too much.” It was important not to stop their lives for their child, she read that in a book she had gotten, but Daphne was still young so she did not want to go away for too long. A few days in a couple of months sounded like a good compromise to her. “Thank you cherié. I would love going to the beach. France has some lovely beaches, but we could also go to the Maldives. I hear it is lovely there.”

“I understand that, but do not expect me to invite them over to dinner anytime soon. Narcissa always tries to compete with me when I’m clearly above her and it’s embarrassing.” Diana knew that she was superior, she had a husband that she loved and that loved her, a beautiful daughter and she was already back in shape after giving birth. It was a feat not everyone could accomplish, even if she did have a few potions recommended to her to speed the process along. “I am quite positive, yes. You cannot blame him though, my legs are divine.” Even though she hadn’t liked to be ogled she understood it, she looked at herself in the mirror often enough after all. “It is sad, perhaps we can look for a book on color theory to gift him for his birthday, it is a subtle hint but it should have a positive outcome.” Telling him how bad the color tan looked on him could be misunderstood as being rude when she would be trying to help him. It as her trying to do something out of the goodness of her own heart, at least its how she saw it. When he said having fun without trying for a child the corners of her lips turned upwards into a small smirk, placing a kiss on his lips. “I like the sound of that. We’re not in any rush, but I do not see why we should wait any longer.” She’d missed being with him and she figured that he felt the same. He hadn’t been pressuring her at all, like she knew some pureblood men would’ve. Malcolm was truly the best one out there. 

Henry pressed his lips together to keep from laughing at the woman’s confident pronouncement, despite it being one of the most ridiculous things he’d ever heard. Despite this woman’s apparent delusion, however, her explanation for bringing an infant along shopping certainly made a little more sense to Henry. It was almost sweet, also his mind still judged harshly the inevitability of the little girl growing up among English pureblood society, which would surely be its own kind of hell in one way or another regardless of any genuine love on her parents’ part. 

“How commendable of you,” he noted, with more than a little curiosity. As he drifted closer to the pram he noted another outfit on the rack, and drew the woman’s attention to it almost absently- even when he was distracted, Henry’s dedication to fashion was a prodigious thing- by drawing it out slightly. “If you’re looking for things that are well adapted to matching on a smaller scale, I’d try this one; the fabric is comfortably soft, and the color would bring out your eyes.” 

Merlin, he really did enjoy playing personal shopper. If only Han still let Henry take him shopping. “Henry Fawley, by the way. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mrs…?”

“Thank you.” Diana took every compliment she got at face value, believing that it was only natural for everyone to compliment her, rarely seeing her own faults and that others weren’t as enamoured with her as her husband was and how she was. Stepping closer to the dress he showed her she examined the fabric for a moment, pausing. “It is quite nice actually, I haven’t noticed it before. And she got my eye color so it would bring out her eyes as well.” It was perhaps a little simple, but for a day inside the house it would suffice. Once Daphne was a bit older she would need clothes she could comfortably play in as well, but she couldn’t even crawl yet so they still had time.

Daisy listened to Diana, pleased for her approval. Apparently the seamstress had been waiting for the same because as soon as Diana had spoken, she swooped in with a fabric piece to tack into place and give Daisy a chance to see it. Daisy looked at it critically for a moment then nodded, angling her head to look toward Diana as the piece was properly attached with magic.

“I do appreciate having someone around whose been through everything so recently. You give me the real advice instead of the rose-colored nostalgia of women whose children are at Hogwarts.” She rolled her eyes. The advice was well-meaning but often oversimplified or things she already knew. “Besides, you make it look so effortless even when we both know it’s not, and it’s kind of nice to see be able to see someone going through where I’ll be in a few months.” Daisy hadn’t necessarily meant to say that much, and her face warmed a bit. Still, she didn’t apologize or take any of it back. She meant it. Having people like Diana and Pandora around also dealing with similar issues made her feel a little more normal about her pregnancy. She didn’t have to overthink it.

“You will see how it feels soon enough, so it is better to be prepared.” She was proud of herself when Daisy that pregnancy looked effortless for Diana. Her mother had taught her not to show weakness in public and the only one who she let in on the struggles she had had during her pregnancy was her husband, she did her best to control her mood swings when they were in public or not leave the house when she was feeling particularly unwell. Diana didn’t like people talking about her in a negative way so she did everything to give them reason not to. “Thank you, I am glad that that is how it looked from the outside. It is important not to let others see you struggle even if you do. Especially those who have not been through it in a very long time, all they have is fond memories of their pregnancies so if you dare to complain they will hold it against you, claim that you’re too young...” She waved it off, knowing how those types of pureblood women were. They thought they knew everything. 

“I must say that I have been warned about sleepless nights, but Daphne has been an absolute angel. The nanny says she sleeps through the night. Not many babies are capable of that so soon.” Of course she believed that Daphne was the best, most perfect baby in the world, it was hard to argue against facts. 

“As long as you approve then I approve. I would love to visit France again when we both have time and it’s for pleasure not business. I still need to brush up on my French since it sounds more like pig latin than anything coherent.” Malcolm was taught French but his mother had insisted he learn Italian and German as well. Learning three different languages at once had him losing the capability to remember them and therefore wasn’t fluent in any of them except a few unimpressive words. “I’m sure you will be. It would be nice if it was something pleasant. If we expose her to correct words and sounds then there’s no reason she should be cursing at us the moment she can babble.”

“Malfoy isn’t a friend-he’s-he’s…an unreliable acquaintance-and I thought you liked the German bankers. Let me guess, you don’t like Fredrick from the Prophet either?” There were nights that Malcolm would go out with them and one occurrence had him running into Nina. They had Daphne for barely a week and there were already thinking about more children. Malcolm didn’t have anything against barring more children as long as Diana wanted them. “Soon-sooner?” Malcolm asked through a low chuckle, tucking a piece of Diana’s hair back over her ear. He pressed a kiss along the juncture of her neck and smiled. “How soon were you thinking?”

She knew that if she didn’t like the nanny or her accent he would let her fire her, no questions asked and she appreciated Malcolm’s trust in her. They both wanted the best for their daughter and she thought that they had found a good nanny. The woman was older and had helped raised several children already so she had enough experience to even be a contender for Daphne’s nanny. There was no way she was letting someone unexperienced take care of her daughter, especially since she did not know everything when it came to raising children. Her mother told her that the knowledge would come with the years, but had given her a few books to read during her pregnancy. Her smile widened when he mentioned going to France for pleasure instead of business. “I would love that, Cherie. I am sure that if you spend some time there you will pick it up much easier.” He was a smart man, she knew that he could do it. “Of course it will be something pleasant. She’s our child.” 

“I don’t like him. I cannot remember that he had even sent a letter congratulating us on Daphne’s birth. One of them kept staring at my legs when I visited you in your office last time. Fredrick? Wait is he the one that wears a lot of tan despite the fact that it doesn’t suit his skin’s undertone? If that’s him then no, not really.” She didn’t have an issue with most of his friends, but she did miss her own friends that were living in France. Diana smiled when she felt his lips on her neck, leaning into him. “As soon as you want.”

Henry’s smile stuttered the minute the woman pointed out the nanny and pram. Ah. A style icon perhaps she was, but also a mother who seemed more interested in matching outfits than actually parenting. There was a sour taste in his mouth; he might as well have been staring at a younger Mrs. Burke, who primped and fluttered around making sure her two Veela imports matched perfectly. 

“She’s hardly old enough to appreciate it,” he settled for, shifting around the rack and only paying attention absently to what had only a moment ago caught all of his attention. “I didn’t know people often brought their infants shopping with them, honestly.”

Mrs. Burke used to simply have a tailor come to them.

“Nonsense. Of course she appreciates it. Daphne is very advanced for her age.” Diana was the type of mother that believed that her daughter was the best in comparison to any other child her age. The smartest, the prettiest, anything, you name it and she fit the superlative. She truly did believe that Daphne was the best thing that ever happened to Malcolm and her and she wanted what was best for her and looking good when she looked back at her own baby pictures would be important. 

“I had errands to run and I did not want to be apart from her for the whole day.” Her mother wanted them to meet for a tea later as well and she mentioned that she wanted to see Daphne so Diana thought it would be best to bring her along.

Daisy felt her heart melt when she looked at Daphne in Diana’s arms. That would be her life soon. Every week that passed brought her closer to when she could have a moment like that and hold her baby in her arms. “I do appreciate you coming with,” she said. “I really didn’t expect it to take this long, but I wasn’t planning on being this indecisive.” She chuckled at her own expense and glanced back in the mirror as she listened to Diana’s critique. “Hmmm, you’re right. I was thinking that it would have the space to accommodate. I wasn’t thinking about how the cleavage would increase to.”

It seemed funny to be having such a frank, cavalier conversation about how her body was changing in a public store like this, but Diana knew first hand all too well what it would be like. She really was an invaluable resource. “What if I asked to add a panel across?” she asked, lifting a hand to cover horizontally. “It could be detachable on one side, which would still allow the wrap part to move easily for nursing, but I wouldn’t created such a show the rest of the time.”

Before Daphne was born Diana didn’t have any experience with children and babies. Most of her friends wanted to wait a couple of years to have children and a lot of people she knew got into arranged marriages where the love for their partner was still building. Malcolm and her had been through that stage years prior. When they came back together they were both on the same page and knew that they wanted to start a family together. Sure, ideally Daphne would’ve been born a month or two later, but that didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. What was important was that she was healthy and that she was gorgeous. “Oh, don’t worry. Take your time. You need to be comfortable and confident in the dress if you’re not people can see it immediately.” Diana didn’t have a problem with her own confidence, although there had been a while when people didn’t know about her pregnancy yet where she’d been worried that they thought she put on weight and that she looked fat. “I did not expect that either, so I wanted to remind you of it.” Not that Malcolm seemed to mind, but she had had to pick dresses with a higher neckline now. When she had smaller boobs it looked elegant but now it didn’t suit her current figure. 

Diana paused at Daisy’s suggestion, examining the dress and envisioning what the alteration would look like after a minute she nodded. “I think it would work. And it would have a practical use as well.”

Malcolm had never been to France besides the few business trips he attended, but he appreciated Diana and her family. It only made sense that they introduce their daughter to the country and the culture, immersing her in the language and practices. Malcolm wouldn’t be opposed to considering Beauxbatons even though he was a Hogwarts alumn. “We’ll see how that goes. I believe the nanny we have now is quite good at French. I would prefer her first word to be in English and perhaps when we are both around.”

The precious moment seemed slanted when Malcolm mentioned Laure, his eyes drifting to Diana from Daphne. The only confusing thing was when Diana mentioned his acquaintances. “Which of those are you referring to? What do you mean?” Malcolm asked gently, not wanting to make into something further. In his perspective, Laure had been vicious and cruel in some extensions that Malcolm hadn’t mentioned to Diana and her leaving had been a gift. “Do it all over again? Possibly in the future.” He already loved Diana and had never been opposed to creating a family with her. They had one daughter and he could see the possibility of having more children with her. “I like the sound of that. A nice gentleman of a son would be great. I only want the timing to be good for you.”

“I’ve spoken to her in French, she’s quite good. She comes from another region than I’ve lived in, but she has a pleasant accent. It should be easy for Daphne to pick it up.” It was important to her that their daughter learned french and she was glad that Malcolm was supportive of it. “That would be ideal. I do not even mind what her first word is, I just want to be there and witness it.” Daphne was still a baby, but they were both excited to watch her grow up. 

“Malfoy for example. Or that Georgian, or was it Ukrainian, banker you’ve had a few meetings with...” Diana waved it of, it wasn’t important, she just wanted to bring the point across that he should be nice or at least cordial to her friends. When he spoke about doing it all over again she smiled, nodding once. “He will have the best manners out of all his friends.” While she hadn’t enjoyed pregnancy that much, the result of it had been wonderful, she would accept a few months of that if it would give them another beautiful child. It would be worth it. “I would prefer it to be sooner rather than later as I want my body to be able to get back into shape quickly. I heard it takes longer for older women. And I would rather have our kids close in age so that they will get along better and enjoy playing with each other.”

Today is the day of love but also Diana Greengrass and Odette Vogel’s birthday. We know Diana Greengrass doesn’t like sharing anything so hopefully Odette doesn’t cross her path today. Diana seems able to afford just about anything so we know she won’t go unspoiled today. Odette works at a pub so we know that there will be drinks aplenty to celebrate around. Cheers!

“Pardon me, but that color is stunning you.” Henry didn’t normally walk around complementing strangers, especially when he had other things to do, but the woman looked vaguely familiar and so did her dress. A designer he’d worn before, maybe? Regardless, sometimes a beautiful choice simply needed attention drawn to it in appreciation. 

He was currently engaged in stress-shopping; Sybill was still missing and he was out of his head with worry, and Nigel had a giant target on his back. So as a distraction Henry had decided to spruce up his wardrobe and perhaps pick up some gifts on the way; one could never have too many designer cashmere sweaters. He’d been in the middle of perusing a rack of burnt velvet shawls when the woman’s dress caught his eye.

While she would usually mind being interrupted by a stranger during her shopping spree, that quickly ebbed down when she realised he was complimenting her. She couldn’t fault people for coming up to her and telling her how great she looked, it only made sense.  “Thank you. I think so too. That’s why I’ve let them make a matching dress for my daughter too. ” Diana smiled proudly, pointing to the stroller her nanny was pushing at the moment.
