This is one of my all time favorite quotes. Magic, breathtaking beauty, and divine ecstasy lurk in the depths of every moment, waiting only for us to notice. "Mundane" simply means we are not fully immersed in the now. Perception is both a great hindrance and a powerful tool of the alchemist.

He always tells her how beautiful she is, yet the compliment never means much because he only sees her beauty on the most shallow level. Sure, she's pretty, but her physical appearance is one of the most insignificant things about her. Of course, he's right; she is beautiful but not because of arbitrary physical features that she was born with and never even chose. She has a beautiful, fiery spirit. She's beautiful because within her are vast reservoirs of unseen strength. She's beautiful because behind her eyes are untold stories of true love and immense suffering. She has a beautiful heart; she loves fully and deeply with no limits or protection. She's beautiful because of the way she learns to love through her scars. She's beautiful because she has an infinite capacity for love, compassion, and forgiveness. She has beautiful eyes, not because of their appearance, but because of they way they see the beauty in places others see nothing. She has beautiful lips because of the way they speak kind words to lift others up. She has a beautiful smile because it radiates true and genuine happiness. She has a beautiful laugh. She's beautiful because of the way she looks to the sky with wild dreams in her eyes. She's beautiful because of her silly personality. She's beautiful because of her intelligence and depth. She has a beautiful, abstract mind with so many layers of complexity. She's beautiful because of her powerful determination. She's beautiful because of the way she sees the beauty and sacredness in all life. She's beautiful because of her uniqueness and creativity. She's beautiful because of her passion for life. She's beautiful because she treats her entire life as a magnificent work of art and inspires others to do so as well. She is beautiful because of the divine light that shines within her and through her to light up the darkness all around her. She's strong because she doesn't depend on a man to make her feel beautiful or worthy. She has no problem waiting for the right person who truly sees her beauty on the deepest level. She's not flattered by shallow compliments because she knows the true depths of her beauty. She will not settle for someone who sees anything less because she knows that she is truly beautiful in ways his tiny heart could never even begin to fathom.

I truly am a fiery spirit

Right when I brought this cactus home, a storm broke a piece off (the part on the right that looks like a bite has been taken out of it). I was sad at first, but I love that new growth came from the scar; it reminds of how we also grow from our hardships and scars.
