See I never once thought that he's handsome before I watched the movie!! I'd watched Crazy, Stupid, Love and Barbie and La La Land and- ok no just those movies (but you're always getting RyGos content in this day and age one way or another amirite) and I just couldn't figure out why everyone was so excessively swooning over this -to me!- regular and frankly not that attractive dude. I watched Barbie and my thought during Ken's song was an affronted "THIS guy is supposed to be a 10 when there's fucking Simu Liu standing right there?!"

But then I saw Ryland Grace! And oh boy. Barking directly at it.

I get it now, I thought! No, wrong, still find him unattractive in the movies I've already watched, so then I watched The Nice Guys because i'd read/heard that it's a silly goofy movie and the main protags are a great ship and who am I to say no to yet another gay ship? So I started watching and while that mustache didn't convince me at all at first, well. By the end of the movie I was barking up that tree as well.

So what's the common denominator? After like a solid thirty seconds of introspection I got it: he has to be at least a little pathetic.

Ryland Grace is the soggiest saddest most pathetic nerd wet cat you could find in space and Holland March is. Well. LA's most alcohol-soggy pathetic submissive and breedable kicked puppy and I gotta admit that the mustache is a great addition.

I crave that angst. The hurt/comfort of "I love you but sometimes I can't help but fear you're going to hurt me again for no reason" from March and the "I love you and I can't undo how I've hurt you and it's killing me" from Healy.

There HAS to be a fic like that, please, I'm STARVING
