Dear you,
Donât be so hard on yourself. Youâre doing your best and youâre going to be okay.
Hello, I have not been very active because I lack discipline. 2020 was a tough year but I made it. I made it through my final examinations and I did not do too badly. However, they were not up to my standards. Hence, I will be (somewhat) retaking them but at a harder level. I pledge to do my best and persevere through another year of âtortureâ. It will be hard but I do hope i get through it.
how to deal with mental fatigue
Hi, itâs werelivingarts! Exam season is coming so soon, and some of us might deal with a lot of stress and mental fatigue while preparing for the exams.Â
Here are some tips on how to prevent and deal with mental fatigue (before it becomes too serious and leads to burnout). Exams are just ways to test your knowledge and understanding, so please do not expect too high and take care of your health! đż
Hope that we would all do well! đ

some things iâve learned while studying in quarantine
drink more water instead of more coffee.
weekly goals are bullshit. set yourself 3-day goals. youâll be less laid-back.
donât just mindlessly stare at words. before you start studying, know your approach to it. have a plan.
summarizing the concept in your own words is the key part of taking notes. donât just copy things down, convert them into your own way of talking, your own vocabulary, no matter how dumb and unprofessional it sounds.
donât let the âstudyblr aestheticâ fool you. studying doesnât have to be pretty. summaries and notes can be messy as long as theyâre comprehensible. you can always rewrite and reorganize them later. (honestly, you better do. and you better keep them.)
donât throw away the papers youâve solved your problems in. staple them to the fucking textbook. you need to see them constantly. cause youâll need reminders of how far youâve came, when youâre feeling discouraged.
donât be an armchair analyst for your issues. if you have an idea then act on it.
remember: the exact point where it becomes difficult, is where your growth begins. take a deep breath, and try to focus on the paragraph in front of you.
get off your high horse and understand that if youâre a zero, you wonât go to 100 in a couple of days. first, youâll need to reach 30, then from 30 to 60, and then from 60 to 90. nobody is 100 everyday. that happens very rarely.
you need to have fun everyday. you need to have peaceful time every single day. even on exam night. especially on exam night, actually. so make sure youâve studied enough so you can have some time to yourself.
once youâre on a roll and in need of some challenge to stay on track, start writing down your studying hours. tell yourself youâre not allowed to do less than 80% of what you did yesterday. whatever the hell it was, even just one hour. so if yesterday you really studied for like, say 8 hours, today your goal is to study for at least 6 and a half hours. if you canât keep up with that, make it 70%, or 60%.Â
be forgiving of yourself. be kind to yourself. even if you bounced back and lost your streak. start again. as slowly as you did before. take your time. itâs okay, you were there once you can get there again.
actually even though weâre in the era of zoom, i do want to sayâŚ. if anybody just listened to students, at LEAST 60% of them would be able to give you a specific & identifiable thing that is standing in the way of their education. they already know! even second graders are able to tell me - my mom is sick. this class confuses me. i donât like how math is taught.
and high schoolers - sometimes mere months before being able to vote, before being poached into the military - will tell you things that ring absolutely true in scientific studies. they tell me: âthis is only meant for 1 type of learner.â âI donât feel that teacher/student ratios actually allow teachers to get to know their students.â âsome teachers are only here for a paycheck, and we can tell you which ones.â âmy mental health is a fucking joke to the administration and my actual physical safety is not guaranteed by my living situationâ âi was horrifically bullied but we both were threatened with suspension, so now iâm still bullied, just without me being able to report itâ âi was told i would fail, so why would i try?â
and yet nobody fucking listens! the admin says over and over - well, it has always been done this way, so itâs fine. itâs cool we wake kids up WAY too early for their natural patterns, donât you know? and itâs horrible. because the mental health of students is treated as a natural sacrifice for the sake of convenience.Â
and i just! want it to change! if it is ever going to change, this is the year it needs to change! and i also know it wonât because a devil person is running our national education department! but for the love of all that is good! if you are an educator! just! Freaking! Ask! Your! Students! What! They! Need!!!!!!Â
iâm studying to become an educator. I had a horrible experience in schools up until college when I got teachers who cared about me. My mental health in school was horrible but the school cared more about money than the students, in fact my friend even tried to hang themselves in the hallway and the school tried to sweep it under the rug. I was bullied horrendously and the first and only time I ever stood up to a bully, I was told that if I ever caused another problem like that I would be expelled while the bully had no punishment.Â
I want to be a teacher that can change how people view their school. I want to be the safe space that can help students learn. Teachers shouldnât be there for the paycheck, but they should be there for the students.Â
I donât understand why no one listens to students. Theyâre smart and they donât get enough credit. Ask your students what they need. Ask your students how you can help them learn. Ask your students if theyâre okay. A little bit will go a long way.Â
iâve compiled a masterpost of tips that i have reblogged over the past few months and i thought it would be easier to have it all in one place. none of these posts are by me! huge thanks to everyone that has created these tips.

Hello, lovelies! Iâve gotten a couple of asks about studying so I decided to condense them into one post for you guys! Iâm trying to hit a bunch of different topics so if you need an even more specific post you can send an ask! Without any further ado, have some tips! My studyblr is @spacey-scholarâ
Prep
First, you always need a good base for your day! Especially if youâre studying a lot.
Make a good full breakfast! Ex. Eggs and Toast, Smoothie and fruit, Pancakes and a cup of juice.Â
Howâs your hygiene? Do you need to shower, brush your teeth, wash your face, condition your hair? Do it! Youâll be distracted if you feel messy!
Get dressed like itâs a normal day. Staying in PJâs is okay! But being ready for the day seriously helps focus!
Likewise, your space should be clean. A clean space is a clean mind! Remove dishes, trash, scrap paper, and extra items. Wide down your desk, organize your pens and books. Your space should feel like your space!
Now make a list of what you need to get done! What needs to be done Now, what needs to be done Soon, and what needs to be done Later?Â
Order your list how you want your day to go, and donât put super-tough subjects back to back, or subjects that are similar exercises i.e. reading thirty pages of two different books back to back is no fun.
The Studying
Itâs important to buckle down with No Distractions! If you find yourself distracted put your phone away! If you need your phone, put it on Do Not Disturb until youâre done. I also do this at night for better sleep.Â
Pick the best technique for you, Pomodoro, reward-based, group studying, etc.
Play music but only if it will not distract you! If you sing along or daydream itâs the wrong music! Classical, Lo-fi, and White noise are all good! My Spotify Here has some good ones.
Use a nice journal (I donât mean expensive!) and pens/pencils you enjoy using. I like to have a specific journal and color dedicated to each subject.Â
Take notes on recorded lectures and classes, if youâre doing online classes right now try to screen record or record the audio! That way if you space out you can play it later and take notes, and you can absorb the lesson better instead of being distracted.
Donât worry about your notes, stationary, pictures, being beautiful and your grades being perfect. Life doesnât always look the way it does on Instagram. And the people who spend hours trying to get a good photo of their coffee are not studying!Â
Use flashcards! Quizlet is good if you need premade ones! If you can save up and buy them, Barrons AP Flash Cards are the best in my opinion. Very clean, not too long, very durable, and cover all subjects.
Feeling DistractedÂ
If you catch yourself drifting off and getting into your head, get up and take a quick walk, stretch, or energizer.Â
Itâs okay if this happens, donât guilt yourself! practice affirmation. The best and smartest still get distracted.Â
If you are drifting, why? Are you hungry? Tired? Thirsty? Bored? Get a snack and some water, take a break and rest, find a way to make your studying more enjoyable.Â
Remember that Motivation and Discipline are different things. Sometimes we just wonât be motivated, we wonât want to do it and it will be rather frustrating. But the cure to this is not shaming its discipline. Remind yourself âThis may be hard, and I may not want to do this, but I want to reach my goals and If this is what It takes I will make it happen.Â
Always do just one more page of youâre tired. One at a time and oh you did it! Maybe just one more? One more? Eh, one more just to finish the train of thought, Oh just- Iâm done? Nice!
If you really canât focus just move on and come back to this subject, you can always ask for help.
Supplementary Things
There are so many apps you can use to study, for free! My favorites are Tide, Quizlet, Focus Keeper, Forest, Flora, Egenda, SpanishDict, Photomath, and Kahn Academy.Â
You can also join a study group! You may know one, but if you donât, there are a lot of online ones! Iâm in a study Discord and have been for a while! it helps a lot and motivates me to finish my work!
You can make a studyblr, but donât do it just for the aesthetics! Itâs about studying, and sometimes that gets messy! Sometimes we fail a test, we spill our tea on our notes, we cry because we donât understand the formula. Thatâs the part you donât see!
Having cute stationery can really help, as well as nice organizers and decorations for your space! I donât have much money so I get a lot of stuff on Amazon or FB Marketplace.
Health
Remember that no matter what you are good enough. Itâs okay if you fail, itâs okay if you struggle.
Itâs also okay if your path doesnât go the way you expected! Maybe you go to a different school than expected! Or choose a trade instead! Maybe you take a gap year! Maybe your passion changes! Maybe it changes six times!
Your health is always more important than your school. If you are in pain, mentally or physically, if you are anxious, exhausted, burnt out, talk to your teachers about it! You matter more than a grade.
Your best is good enough! And your best doesnât look the same as someone elseâs best! Donât compare!
Now go get out there and study!

self harm disguised as productivity is still self harm. the all nighter of studying after a failed exam is self harm. studying through personal care is self harm. punishing yourself for apparent academic failure by irrational actions associated with academic success is self harm. forcing upon yourself the image of a person you have not grown into yet is self harm.
Alkanes Notes!! Not my usual type of notes but these are just rushed.. iâll do them properly eventually :)
