I make banners, icons, and silly stuff in the style of tumblr's default graphics. I also reblog tumblr related design things. Send messages or asks for requests! I make no promises but I do beg for inspiration and suggestions. Please feel free to use any images I make. Credit is appreciated but not needed. Note that I also reblog from other people, so if you want to use stuff I reblogged but didn't make, you're gonna have to ask the person who actually made it. I use & recommend the app ibisPaint X. If you make/see other cute default-ish icons out in the Tumblr wild please show me, I love to see them! My primary (but not main) blog is @vacuously-true.

Any tips for creating default icons? I haven't tried what I want to make yet but I feel like I'll struggle with getting the correct line thickness.

Maybe this will help?

I think one thing that really sells it is making sure the lines are not pure black, but rather the very dark gray color. My color palette is linked.

Here's the color set I've been using for this project. The colors with white dots were not original to any actual default imagery but I added them to make a more complete color set.

The original icons are 512x512 pixels with lines generally 16 pixel weight. Dot eyes are 32 pixels across and line eyes have lines around 12 pixel weight. I've made some images bigger than 512x512 if I really wanted more detail.

hello I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. The anonymity of tumblr means that I associate my idea/image of you with your icon and sometimes I look at people’s icons and I’m like ‘hmmm….what is that and why?’

I’m an icosahedron with eye tattoos.

The eye design is fractals that I’ve made for a project, the icosahedron is by @anonymous-leemur I think, or one of their sideblogs anyways.

I put that shape cuz I wanted to explore how it felt to be a shape, on the internet you can be anything.
