Long theory: Alastor’s deals: Lilith and Rosie/Zestial, and what's next this season (Season 2).
I have been writing this theory for 2 days and I wanted to share it with you. I want to mention that so far I have been spared from leaks and spoilers of the second season, so, if any of what I have in the theory is real or is part of the leaks, I would appreciate it if you do not mention it, please. It's been hard to survive not seeing leaks and I'd like to stay that way until the end of the season. Also, English is not my first language, sorry for any gramar mistake or typo in advance.
This theory will include things about the two episodes of Hazbin Hotel Season 2. Read at your own risk.
Now, I'm going to explain in chronological order how Alastor and Lilith are related. Focusing more on Lilith's actions first and then talking about the additional deal that Alastor has and how this relates to Lilith. Then I'll write a little bit about what I think will happen this season and why.
Alastor and Lilith relationship, chronology:
1. When Charlie was little: Lilith, unlike Lucifer, wants revenge against heaven for silencing them and expelling them. She notices that Lucifer is not seeking revenge or at least claiming his place as the king of hell (we know he is, but I doubt he has earned the same respect that Lilith earned among the inhabitants of hell). Then she begins to worry about how she could have an advantage in protecting her family and being able to get involved with heaven. Lilith shares with Charlie and Lucifer that dream of helping hell, but she knows that she must start by fixing heaven first. Lilith believes in redemption like Charlie, but she knows that in heaven everyone is too skeptical, corrupt and in general has a system out of control that they prefer not to question and continue with it, even if it is wrong. So Lilith focuses on trying to change heaven and then help hell.
2. 9 years ago: Lilith looks for ways to return to heaven. That makes me think about the possibility of Lilith leaving someone in charge of Lucifer and Charlie since Lilith is the one who had the respect of hell and Lucifer softened a lot when Charlie was born (in addition to the fact that he was beginning to give up with their mission) and she knew that leaving Charlie alone with Lucifer would be dangerous when hell noticed that she was gone. Lilith looks for a way to go back up and finish off Adam (she knows that he is the one who corrupts heaven and that there is no chance of changing anything if Adam is still there). So, she decides that the greatest protection is to make a deal with one of the greatest threats of hell at that time who would be Alastor (talking about the times of the rise of Radio Demon), but Lilith knows that she has something to lose or give him to get Alastor to accept her proposal. For this reason, the deal arises from the need for Lilith, not Alastor (an important detail because most of the fandom think of it the other way around). So really the one who would have her in chains is him (or it is possible that they have made a deal like him with Charlie, without taking her soul as such because he did not want to or because he could not).
3. Before disappearing: Lilith talks to Lute and possibly some authority from heaven (separately) seeking to return to heaven. At first they reject her, but possibly she convinces them by saying that she knows how to treat and control Adam (it is seen that Adam was a difficult guy even for Sera who is supposed to have the same or more hierarchy than him) and they accept her back. Afterwards and before leaving, she made the deal with Alastor:
Lilith's interest: Protection for her family and a spy in her absence.
Alastor's Interest: Resistance (not immunity) to angelic weapons and perhaps some power related to the voice (assuming that Alastor did not want or get her soul).
4. In the years of absence at the same time as Alastor: For a while Lilith and Alastor see each other continuously (if Lilith was going to teach him some voice powers, she had to teach him maybe to condense it into the microphone), they also looked for a way to communicate in person without being physically in the place (it may be a place/portal where they can both be or perhaps a communication via radio frequency). During that time, she also told him about Charlie and Lucifer (so that he would know what they were capable of) and Lilith was watching and testing him for a while before going to heaven. A parenthesis: The way Lilith communicates with Alastor would be through a hologram (as Adam was in the first episode when he received Charlie in the embassy of heaven in hell) and it would be in that place that we saw her in episode 2 of season 2 just like the one in Alastor's room, each one seeing it in their own way (attached photo of the parallel).
5. The arrival in heaven, possibly 2 or 3 years ago from where the series takes place: Adam, because of how possessive he was, tried to return to Lilith. She seizes the opportunity for her plans, promises to "please and accompany him, but in secret" for a while in exchange for her stay in heaven and they sign something like a heavenly deal. Lilith plans to manipulate Adam into going to the exterminations and gibing him the idea that what Charlie is doing is "wrong". Lilith's plan was to promise Lute to "take care of Charlie" and that was demonstrated by being Adam's "ally", because Lilith was really looking for Adam to go down in person to hell so that he would be vulnerable and there would be a confrontation between Adam and Alastor (Lilith was convinced that the Radio Demon was going to eliminate him in a matter of seconds). That was the plan she had with Alastor.
6. During the first season: Lilith manages to convince Adam and when the massacre happens, Alastor cannot defeat Adam (he fails Lilith, although he does protect Charlie, but obviously without risking his life) and it is thanks to Lucifer (and Niffty) that Adam is killed. Alastor couldn't (basically didn't keep his deal) and although he surely tries to hide it (he is seen worried at his breakdown in the final song), possibly how Adam was killed and who did it, is news in heaven. That's why, at the end of the season, Lute arrives with Lilith to tell her that Adam is dead, that she is free from him (she no longer has to fulfill her deal to be able to continue in heaven) and that now she does fulfill what she said that she wanted to “eliminate” Charlie if she wanted her to continue supporting her as she has until now. Lute does not completely trust Lilith and only gave her support because of Adam's interests and because she believed that she could prevent Charlie from continuing with the hotel, but at the same time it is Lute who has defended Lilith about her stay in heaven until now.
7. Shortly before the start of the second season: Lilith and Alastor communicated to talk about what had happened with Adam. Lilith asked him what he was really hiding from her (considering that Lilith believed that Alastor was really powerful), possibly Alastor tells her that "he was not going to risk dying after the wounds that Adam inflicted on him" but Lilith did not let him go without a warning, she threatens to take away his immunity/resistance to celestial weapons if he does not continue to help her, but she continues to use him. Lilith decides to continue using Alastor because she now needs to protect Charlie more (Sir Pentious' arrival in heaven makes the pressure on Lilith and her promises to Lute greater).
8. Start of the second season: Now that Charlie has proven that redemption does exist, Lilith must act more quickly because she knows that Lute, hurt, is going after Charlie. The relationship between Lute and Lilith is strained, so the message of "You're off the hook for now bitch" is more a threat tan a relief. Lute “used” Lilith in the conversation with Sera to be right, that "not even Lilith supports her daughter". This makes Lilith seem as she is still in favor of heaven. In addition, the message arrives before Lute sings "Gravity", where Lute makes the decision to take care of Charlie herself.
And although I didn't mention it, I think this is obvious: Lilith doesn't answer messages or calls because she knows that if she tells Lucifer or Charlie, they will want to go with her to help her, so she has chosen to continue missing and suffering in silence.
Alastor Bonus Deal (Who Has His Soul?):
I feel Alastor is in the ring of pride because sometimes he's too proud and stubborn and possibly, with that attitude, at some point he was confronted by an Overlord who he couldn't torment and send his voice to the radio. That Overlord could be Zestial or Rosie. Both (until a couple of days ago) were very 50/50 in probability.
If it were Rosie it would be because of what she told him about being an "ace in the hole" (not only can it refer to Alastor's sexuality, but basically Alastor can be her secret advantage). And now with the songs released from the second season for episodes 3 and 4, the fact that Alastor sings with Rosie the song "Don't You Forget" makes me believe that she is going to be the one with his soul (especially since the Reprise is sung by Valentino, Alastor and Vox about the souls that are owners: Angel, Husk and Baxter (?).
The reason why I think it may be Zestial is because of the reaction that Alastor has had when he sees Zestial (it is the only one he seems to be afraid of, I attach a couple of frames where you can see his expression) and because he is the only one with whom the color of the magic and the color palette matches the green of Alastor's seams (but we have not seen the color of Rosie's magic yet).
Regardless of who has Alastor soul, when Alastor couldn't get away with killing them, they decide to spare his life because it was smarter to do that in exchange for his soul and Alastor has become weaker (possibly because he hasn't kept his deal). The deal must have happened in Alastor's 7 years of absence (at the same time he was with Lilith and may even be related) without Lilith finding out that Alastor sold his soul. In this deal between Alastor and Rosie/Zestial, he may have been asked to eliminate the Morningstars (because without them, being able to take control of the Pride Ring it would be easier for the Overlords, considering if Rosie or Zestial requested it).
Alastor got into playing with fire (having the deal with Lilith at the same time as Rosie/Zestial's) because he thought that the perfect way to approach Charlie and family was with Lilith's permission and he was right. But since he has had no results with the elimination of the Morningstars these 7 years that he was trying to recover and fulfill Lilith, they have punished him by threatening to take away more power through his soul and now he feels even more vulnerable knowing that, in addition to the fact that he can no longer defend himself as in his best days, he may loose the immunity/resistance that Lilith had given him.
So what's the future for this season for both of you?
Lilith didn't think the hotel was to work this fast and so, with Adam dead, she's planning to create a revolution like she did in hell (with her voice) in heaven to make them see how corrupt the system of heaven is and what they plan to do with the souls in hell and what they've done so far and the mistakes of Sera and Lute (exposes the the exterminations of the "winners"). Lilith does not want to destroy the heaven as such, she wants to destroy those who make it an unfair place (like Lute).
Alastor is upset that he is now reaching the limit of his dealings (of failing to comply with both deals). He feels that what he was doing in recent years was for nothing and that is why he shows himself in an attitude of: "I no longer want to continue to look like I am enjoying being here in the hotel because I am not earning anything, I am exposing myself and everyone is softening with me". Alastor decides to leave the hotel when he sees that Lucifer is already taking charge (he is less depressed and more protective of Charlie) and because Alastor is tired. Then he goes to see Rosie to talk about what has happened with his plans to get to Charlie and I even feel that Rosie is going to be the one to sew him up or change the seams of the skin of his wound. We would see a passive-aggressive relationship between these two. Alastor is going to tell Rosie about the deal he has with Charlie and how he plans to use it against Lucifer. Alastor continues to communicate with Lilith taking advantage of the fact that she does not know exactly if Alastor is telling the truth (he can tell her that he continues to protect Charlie and in the hotel until she realizes in a short period of time) and even to set a trap for her if he comes to know that Lilith is going to go down to hell.
The Vees will somehow get close to reaching heaven (possibly Baxter will help them make weapons) in addition to having half hell in the resistance. Then Alastor is forced to fight against the three Vees as already seen with Vox in the trailer. What's interesting here is going to be that for Charlie, Alastor is going to be "defending heaven/the hotel" but she doesn't know about his deal with Lilith. However, I think that Alastor is not going to be able to beat the three Vees on his own and, if Rosie's deal is real, he has no one to help him go against the Vees (I think Zestial would not get involved in that, it would not be politically convenient). That would make the Vees kidnap Alastor and it would be Lucifer the one to save Alastor, maybe after Lilith or Charlie ask him to (?) (Unless Alastor uses Charlie by cashing in the favor/deal to get out of that one, but I see more possible being Lucifer the one who saves him). After Lucifer "stops" the Vees, Alastor could leverage that trust/vulnerability with the Morningstars to strategize against themselves. If Alastor does that, it would be a strong twist and even without turning back (to never redeem himself personally or as a villain or antihero). I don't know if for the story they want to go for that alternative with Alastor (to leave him as the villain for the third season), but it would be a way to explain the confrontation and why Alastor is upset without acting yet.
And well, that's the theory why I think Alastor is going to be the real villain this season, making the Vees take a back seat.
Thanks for reading! Love to see your thoughts on this.
