when someone's bio says "be the change you want to see in the world", but they aggresively reject vegan or vegetarianism
I wish every animal could look this content
Okay so after embarrassingly commenting with my personal blog for the second or third time and realizing I don’t know how to use tumblr and my secondary blog wouldn’t be capable of making independent comments (which kinda sucks because I would like to actually interact with people) I decided to just make a new account
which is “animal-loving-prick”
and will no longer be active on this one I guess
so i saw an actual lion on facebook today

I don't think I've ever felt more sick in my life
Happy International Cognitive Disonnan-
oh sorry wrong thing haha
Happy International BACON DAY, guys!!
Some advice for vegans: just chill maybe. You aren’t going to convince someone to change by being angry. No one likes hearing they are wrong. Gently educate. I know you’re enraged about the slaughter and mistreatment of animals. But you want to convert people, convince people. It WILL take time. Don’t give up. Just sound more kind and relaxed. Even if you’re not.
People try harder to hear a whisper.
Sincerely Someone who was convinced using the above methods
“Gently educate“ that’s a new oneÂ
Really, though. People don’t respond well to you getting angry and insulting them for living their lives the way they were raised to - and it’s honestly not fair. What a decent person would do is to offer facts and lead by example, guiding people to think for themselves rather than follow the standard way of life. If someone is attacking you for being vegan, that’s another story - give that rude bitch hell. But the saying “you catch more flies with honey…” may not be the most vegan of sayings, but the concept behind it proves true.Â
When you angrily push veganism on people, they tune you out almost immediately. I like the term “gently educate.” If you gently educate them, they are more likely to listen. That’s common sense…
Sincerely, A vegan who can’t stand aggressive vegans
“What a decent person would do” - a decent person would also get upset after witnessing apathy and deliberate ignorance for years from friends and family and strangers alike. Yeah, yelling at someone’s face isn’t going to help. Amazing discovery.Â
But all vegans are ever, ever told is to be nicer, to be more considerate, to not “force” non-violence onto people - all of which are nice ways of telling us to shut the fuck up. And we need to tell fellow vegans the opposite. You can be loud about it, you can be confident about it, you can “ruin someone’s meal”, you can disrupt people’s day.Â
Don’t you think it’s beautiful and inspiring seeing POC, women, LGBT people speaking up unapologetically more and more? They are focusing on speaking the truth, forcing people to face reality, instead of trying to figure out what “approach” will be more comfortable for the privileged and the oppressors. Being faced with your prejudice, with oppression that you are benefiting from - it will never be comfortable.Â
I just spent like 15 minutes on facebook leaving teary eyed frowny faces on every recipe that mentioned "chicken" it's the small rebellions you know
call me picky but I just don’t like the flesh of abused animals in my food

tip: if you’re a vegan, make sure to also be a massive shredded bodybuilder to avoid concerned talks about your protein intake from family members as much. proceed to bench them if they are unconvinced.
I think more than 99% of people in the US would say that they’re against animal cruelty.
Coincidentally, more than 99% of farm animals in the US were raised in factory farms.
I like dogs and cats so much that I don’t even eat them.
I recently learned that chickens are smarter than 4 year olds and there were some interesting reactions when I told people this.
One person called me a twisted individual when I asked for him to replace the word “chicken” with “4 year old child” after he talked about the proper treatment of a chicken. He was outraged with me. Maybe it’s because the treatment included being kept in a cage for all of its life and then ended with a decapitation.
Which is why it was strange to me when he said that I was the twisted individual.
Because I hadn’t mentioned doing anything like that.

If someone tells me I’m responsible for “plant suffering”, I don’t feel anything. Not even the slightest bit of guilt or emotion. I don’t feel a gut-wrenching need to defend eating plants.
Because I know that the statement is ridiculous.
So it seems that if a meat-eater heard that they were responsible for something as ridiculous as “animal suffering” that they wouldn’t get as emotional as they tend to, that if they really believed the concept was so absolutely ridiculous, they would react in the exact same way that I did to an equally ridiculous concept?
Another short vegan argument. This was an interesting one. Talking to somebody who doesn’t support slaughterhouses but does support personal killing.
