I watched Arcane when it first came out; however, I only watched Season 1, and only during the pandemic era. I completely forgot about it and then recently decided to start all over from the beginning. The first season of the show was enjoyable, a bit melodramatic, but still managed to tell its story. The animation is gorgeous, bringing the League of Legends' unique artwork to life. There's no denying that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) lit a fire in companies to take animation seriously (well, they still don't, but they saw a profit).

My problem comes from season 2 of the show. The melodramatics of the first season were increased to the point where I was rolling my eyes every single time a song started. Even the opening of the second season felt like "it's not a phase, Mom!" As well, I dislike so much that the second season didn't feel like a show; it was more like a music video, with the rest being a 30-minute-long video game cutscene.

Trying to finish the series was a drag, and I should have binge-watched it. The positive outcome: it did tell its story! That wasn't forgotten, and the big twist at the end was a very nice touch that actually caught me by surprise (most of the time I am not very impressed by twists, as I end up catching them early).

I am very happy my favorite characters survived and even saved the day! Now, the fuck do you mean Mel is a disposable Black girlfriend to a damn straight couple?!

Overall: Arcane is a series that I won't be watching again. I am happy I did watch it, as the animation and the characters' designs are so good. Clearly, this show is meant for a specific brand of fans, but I would recommend it to anyone.
